We review and demo the cheapest climbing treestand on the market today. This video shows you everything you need in order to make an informed decision before you purchase. The Field and Stream Stealth II Climber Tree Stand is a steel tree stand that costs only $100 from Dick’s Sporting Goods from one of their flash sales. The regular price is $199 (and it was a 50% off sale), so sign up for their emails and get those flash sales! It's a solid, no-frills, budget climbing treestand from Field & Stream. Items discussed are listed below. Check out www.mountainbuck.com for more content.
I would recommend buying the Summit backpack straps and tether bungee for $22 on Amazon to upgrade the backpack straps and tether rope that come standard with this treestand.

Little hint when hanging a climber. Set the foot portion first then you can rest the seat portion on top of it so you do not have to struggle with angle.

There are quite a few variations of this stand, Muddy has one, mine is the Apache Stealth from X-Stands, pretty much the same design under many different names.

Informative video. Can’t say I’m impressed with the stand though. Seems way too heavy, complicated and cumbersome. The belts seem too flexible and don’t seem to want to move up the tree easily. $But 100 is hard to beat so I’m sure it will work for some. Good job!

Hey Hari’s, thanks for the positive feedback and for subscribing! I would pick up the backpack straps and tether bungee from Summit. I use them with my Summit Viper SD and they work great (I’d probably skip the foot straps for now. The stock ones should last a while). They have the backpack straps and tether bungee as a package on Amazon for like $21. Here is the link amzn.to/38WnhxM

24 lbs isn't bad. The cheap Comfort Zone I have from Dicks 15 yrs ago is 35lbs and a real load. My Summit Viper SD is 20lbs I believe. For a $100 bucks you can leave that in the woods, chain it up and be good. But those flat limp cables seem to be an issue climbing. Junk I wouldn't buy that POS. Thanks for warning us
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck 3 жыл бұрын
Hey David, thanks for checking out my channel! Yep the Summit Viper SD is 20 lbs and you are right about possibly chaining this to a tree for the season. The flat cables are a bit of a challenge, but if you get the right tree, it makes it a whole lot easier. Thanks for your feedback!

DO NOT let this stand outdoors for any length of time. I did the last couple of years. This year, when getting set up pre-season, the upper cable snapped, and I fell 15'. Broken pelvis (3 places), broken sacrum. It turns out, water got inside the plastic and corroded the chain. Keep it dry.

I have three stands like this under the X-Stand brand. They are cheap, but not the best. One needs to sharpen up the teeth or one can have serious issues with the bottom kicking out. I would recommend adding a strap to each side and a cheap backrest. That said, I have killed many deer with these stands.

you would expect that when you do a review on a piece of cheap junk that you would be more honest, if thats the most a hunter can spend at the time then they should just keep saving up and stay on the ground until they have 0ver 250 or more to buy a well constructed climbing stand worse thing that could happen is the stand falls apart or breaks leaving you hanging alone till help comes...
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts. However, did you watch the entire video? My review was honest. I was pretty clear about the difficulty the stand had on the bigger tree due to the smaller teeth/opening. I made specific note about how my Summit Viper SD (more expensive stand) is more capable on the larger tree. I also made a comment on the tether rope being short and stiff thereby limiting your ability to climb (I also mention several times that upgrading the rope to a longer rope or bungee strap would make climbing easier). I comment in the unboxing video about the cheap safety harness that comes with the stand and encourage an upgrade (I do this for all climbing treestands no matter how expensive they are). Additionally, I discuss the moving arms and how it may take some getting used to. Because the arms move, I suggest moving the footholds to a better location. I discuss how the mesh seat is "kind of comfortable", but not sure how it will be when sitting for longer periods. I continue by stating that your back is just against the tree with no backrest. I mention that the shooting rail is low and therefore wouldn't even call it a shooting rail. I also comment on the small backpack straps and recommend an upgrade. I would also like to point out that this stand comes with straps to secure both sections of the stand to the tree (more expensive stands typically only secure the seat platform to the tree). So your comment about the stand falling really doesn't make sense if the user secures it to the tree with the straps provided. I believe I gave an honest review and gave the viewer the information needed to make an informed decision before purchasing. Putting a video together like this takes time an effort. Much less effort than typing out a few baseless comments. Enjoy your day.

That's the most entitled statement I've ever heard. I've used $100 Academy brand for years. Though it might not be as comfortable as an ole man or a summit, it does the job. Who are you to tell someone they should stay on the ground because they don't have $300 for a climber?

Naw get a hang on stand a set of climbing sticks and a ratchet strap for a little added safety and it will only cost 120 bucks. Lighter than this thing too.
