I thought you were talking about the noise level in the dyno. That stone being thrown up looked painful. I recon it’s too good for rallying. Would be worth fully restoring having survived this long.

For a long time people believe the "5k kick" on these was the timing shift, it's actually the engine hitting Volumetric Efficiency, the dephaser activates very low in the rev range. The kick is also meant to be smoother on the 182 4-2-1 manifold as opposed to the 172's 4-1.

Great video, clever editing too. Definitely think you should keep the Clio as stock as possible, too many of them have ended up as track hacks and been scrapped as a result - this one is too nice for that. I have never had any issues with water ingress in my Clio, but I have had my interior lights (including the dash) conk out halfway through a lap at wanneroo raceway during a night tuning session a few years ago. That gave the old sphincter a workout.

Nice vid, another 182 owner here great wee cars had mine since new but the clutch is showing signs of wear quoted £700 for a new one!

Really pleased I stumbled across this channel. Great content and great cars. Had a 172 cup back in the day and the only issue I had was a seized brake caliper. Fun to drive and pretty quick.

Recently had my oil sump pan repaired and the whole front literally had to come off. Crazy… but content like yours is a joy to watch and good for future owners who r keen on having one.

I found your channel as a 182 owner! Love it thank you. Clios alternators all seem to be failing at the moment. Guess they have a 20year shelf life! I had to replace mine last year. Pain in the arse that tensioner!

I'm still here. The stone incident is one of those moments in life that you never forget. You were lucky.

I have a 2005 182 cup, it still runs great and it gets tracked. It really comes down to how well it has been looked after. Don't turn it into a rally car, get it out on a proper track, thats where it shines !!!

Had a 1.8 16v, thing was a rocket. Had race cams and big valve head, air filter the lot. But you need a sparkie and silicone sealant everytime you went out in the rain. Great vid

Some things don't change. My MK3 Clio scuttle clogged up causing sitting water to seize the wiper motor and the alternator went after being sat for a year unused. At 150k miles it's just passed its latest MOT though with no advisories so just goes to show that not all Renaults are dogs!

We have many of these here in Spain and its a car that i had many chances to buy when yonger but never did, every always told me its not the fastest but it a fun car to drive.

Great video. I bought a Renault 5 for £125 in 1999. The FM radio picked up the sound of the engine, AM was a high pitch sound of the engine. 40mph was an achievement 😂

Good vid. Couple of points here... your mate Dave was right and you were unbelievably lucky there. Glad you're OK. Going back to the alternator, they are a very common failure point on the 182 and that's because they're positioned directly in the air/rain stream through that radiator grille.

Good video. Love a Renaultsport clio. The damp in that part where the BCM is will likely be the scuttle drains that are blocked. Check them.

Absolute Renault. Getting my cup out of storage on Sunday to try and figure out a cut out issue we had on the last track day. If it wasn’t for electrical issues the clios are superb especially on track. Wish I was back in Malvern still could give you another one to look at 😂.
