I love jazz so much, but sometimes I do think there's moments where we loose sight of making melodically good music and start making sound. The irony is these musicians are so technically incredible, as well as masters of music theory, but come on; that 1:49 didn't even sound like music, personally I'd rather listen to Autumn Leaves at a jam session.. I don't mean to sound like a hater but I'd love to have a conversation about moments like this in jazz. Maybe I just don't get it?
@julianmitchell3035Ай бұрын
Albert Ayler. Ruin your ears for a bit and then come back. The point *is* to get rid of melody. At least for Ayler Free Jazz. Coleman Free Jazz is much more melodic.
