That really bothers me how they do that.. especially with Ryzen systems. It can't be adding very much cost to use 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB . Then when you do want to upgrade you have to buy 2 sticks anyway. Hopefully at the very least they mention 1 stick in the specs.
@tyaty
@tyaty 2 жыл бұрын
@@fffrrraannkk The real reason that 8g sticks are cheaper amd more avaliable than 2*4 kits. And 8g is pretty much the minimum config for a functinal gaming prebuilt. You either order 16-32, in tzhe case where you are planning to use it for games with the stock config, pr you buy the least expesive RAM option and replace the RAM with a decent kit.

You shouldn't disregard the OEM provided veneril disease in laptops. Its kinda crucial to most functions including RGB controls and even performance controls. I don't know if you used Turbo mode in the video, but if not, you could get better performance on the laptop, because Turbo mode usually OCs the GPU a little and increases the CPU TDP budget as well.

so i had a version of this laptop that had the Ryzen 7 4800 and the RTX 2060 in it for a while. I noticed the bottleneck too with the built in display. Figured out that the built in display uses the on board graphics built into the Ryzen processor as a kind of scaler. It pushes video through the RTX 2060 then through the Ryzen VEGA video to be displayed on the built in screen. If you use an external monitor through the Type C port, you should get better FPS and a more consistent performance through the GPU as it will no longer go through the VEGA graphics chip.

5:20 When you overclock RAM or even just clock it to it's rating, your system can sometimes have a panic attack. When this happens the system either doesn't boot, post, or even turn on. This happened to me when I thought I had 3600MHz RAM when I really only had 3200MHz. I clocked it to 3600 and my pc bluescreened after I booted it and didn't turn on. So when this happens, CLEAR THE CMOS! There are usually two pins on your motherboard (depending on your manufacturer) that you have to jump with a metal object like a screwdriver in order to reset the CMOS. Usually it says something like BAT, JBAT, or CMOS RESET next to it. Just jump those pins with a screwdriver for about 10 seconds and all your BIOS settings will reset. Then go in and set all your customs again.
@photonboy999
@photonboy999 2 жыл бұрын
Sure, but it's a bit ODD that the CMOS was cleared and it defaulted to 3200MHz one time and 2666MHz the other. That's concerning. Having said that, I read something about UEFI being in nvRAM (non-volatile memory) but apparently some things get cleared by CMOS and some things don't. It's very confusing.
@goa141no6
@goa141no6 2 жыл бұрын
Well shitty 3600 ram is usually 3200 OC ram, check the voltage and timings on the sticker, try to run it manually at 1.3 volts or up, 1.45 is usually the max safe but you should check just in case.
@JeskidoYT
@JeskidoYT 2 жыл бұрын
But why would the CMOS keep resetting back the settings and prevent you from overclocking?
@shamerok377
@shamerok377 2 жыл бұрын
@@JeskidoYT You can only overclock your hardware if it supports overclocking and if you have good cooling. Resetting the CMOS resets those overclocked settings in your BIOS back to the rated defaults for your hardware. Therefore, if you overclocked your hardware and your pc crashed and you have no way back into your operating system or your BIOS, resetting the CMOS can fix that. Then just go back into your BIOS and keep experimenting with overclocking your CPU and RAM.

The only thing being is that I bought a 3600MHz 16Gb 2x8Gb kit and then as a christmas gift my brother got me the same kit so I could have 32Gb of RAM but it was only rated at 3200MHz so when I installed it and tried to run the 3600MHz even with the higher voltage, it would crash so I resorted to just keeping it at 3200MHz

I don’t have an ASUS laptop, but in terms of noise, it’s worth noting that recent Lenovo Legion gaming laptops are excellent at making no audible fan noise in quiet mode, while still delivering enough horsepower to run any game at over 60 FPS. For instance, the 16” Legion Pro 7i with RTX 4080 is completely silent in quiet mode even under full load. It comes with a beefy vapour chamber cooler to achieve this in conjunction with slow spinning fans. Performance is good enough to deliver 60 FPS in Cyberpunk with RT on, while remaining completely silent. Very impressive indeed. Their slimmer 14” Legion Slim model with an OLED panel is also quiet, but not totally silent, in quiet mode, while delivering excellent performance and thermals.

To know the correct timings look at the specification on the memory stick. For such a stick this would for example be: PC4 3200/19/19/19/40. It's funny to hear KZfaqrs complain about all the negative comments because i rarely see them. It reminds me of the story i heard, "2 Bad Bricks" One day this Buddhist monk was building a wall and when he finished he noticed that 2 bricks were slightly out of line. This bothered him for days, he wanted to tear the wall down. But one day one of the laymen followers was at the monastery admiring the wall, the laymen was a mason. The monk went up to the man to talk about the wall and before he could say anything the lay follower turned to the monk and said "Wow you guys did an amazing job on the wall" Monk replied: "What do you mean, can't you see those two bad bricks? Follower replied: "Yes of course, but look at the other 998 bricks. They're absolutely perfect! There will always be bad bricks

I kinda like the noise the Alienware makes when the side panel is closed, it's an odd sound, fitting for Alienware.

As a fellow sarcastic sob, I appreciate the quality of David's over-explanation of sarcasm. It's honestly overtly refreshing like an actual hamburger that wasn't made 3 weeks earlier and then placed in a McDonald's heat lamp and sold to you as something new and fresh.

I want to see Doug DeMuro score some cars like this. The sarcastic but not sarcastic at all numbers are great. @Dawid Does Tech Stuff you should keep a running tally of all the scores and do a year end comparison with no sarcasm whatsoever.

Alma’s grandmother 👵 possessed my 2003 Dell PC too! I had the blue screen of death 💀 every time I used the sleep button, it was mysteriously slow though having a fast cpu, and it crashed when I used a USB scanner. I think Dell is expert at infusing Alma into every product it makes!

I may be incorrect, but I believe the XMP profile does more than just change the RAM speed. I believe it's a complete OC profile. Just changing the RAM speed could cause issues. Also pro tip, if you change something in the BIOS and the computer stops POSTing, always start with CMOS.
