Alex: “You know way more than I do” Chris: “Shut up” That dialogue cracked me up, but it shows the chemistry between you two and how great your friendship is. Thank you for these interviews.

Chris, you have become one of the best interviewers on the scene. Every question you ask shows the depth of research you have done prior to the interview and I can tell that your guests notice this as well. I was one of those who developed a morning routine with breathing exercises, cold showers, walking, meditation, etc. one day I realized that I spent maybe 2 hours on prepping for work. Now I get right to it every day and in my breaks I do parts of my morning routine. I get 70% more work done every day this way. Would love to keep on praising you but there is work to be done.

1:30 Open loop vs Closed loop - Cliffhangers, finishing halfway through the sentence (open loops) - reduces the activation energy required to finish the sentence the next day, & more importantly, keeps the sentence active in your brain (so you are constantly thinking about it).

Procrastination is such a killer. I have been using the Pomodoro method my friend in Medical school uses. Sucked it up and bought a chess timer. Best investment ever! Now I throw my cell phone out of sight and just open the laptop to write and prospect. Thank you Alex and Chris, you have both been the mentors I needed to change my life! Much Love.

This is scary....I genuinely believe that he's putting in as deep work as possible for 12-16hours 6 and a half days a week and that scared me to imagine people out there are who we're "competing" with to create our reality. Over 1 year to the average person that's a gap they won't be able to cover. I respect it but damn that's committement. I struggle with the maintenance aspect of having that focus everyday for even 4 months. I got to 3 weeks and life's problems threw me off the path. How do you guys manage it?

The important thing to realize so you don’t get discouraged is this is what a hyper successful 100+ million dollar entrepreneur does to stay ahead. If this isn’t your goal then 1 you don’t need to do this and 2 if you think you want to have hundreds of millions of dollars then it’s a wake up call that you probably dont want hundreds of millions of dollars because this is what it takes. If you want financial freedom it can easily be done with 40 hours a week with intentional work

There is a trick that i do to wakeup whenever i want regardless of how much sleepy i am, i thought i throw it here and i hope you find it useful. The trick is : whenever you are at bed and struggle to get off just hold your breath untill your body feels like it's in danger. That way you instantly get a dopamine boost that refreshes you. Didn't work ?! Do it again. Also another trick to stop procrastinating is that, you're procrastinating because you are already doing something hence you can't start another thing which is the important work. Whenever you feel that empty your time by simply freezing your self and what ever at your hand throw it off and stop thinking only feel your surroundings. After 2 or 3 mins you mind can't just stop doing nothing and then simply you fill your time with important work. For time managment just set deadlines for each task at hand and make sure it's tight therefore you'll race time to get things done 10x faster

I agree but I also feel like for some people this would cause burnout some people need to keep pushing so they don't lose momentum but some people just aren't built that way and need more balance but i I definitely agree regardless when it is a very hard or anxiety provoking task you're procrastinating just facing it and getting started definitely removes that mental block it's usually not as big of a deal as you think it is also even though it shouldn't be used to procrastinate the task at hand I do believe some of the self help morning routine style advice does have value improving mental performance and thus increasing productivity you just have to not get bogged down in the details and it's definitely easy to become addicted to those supposedly healthy habits as a way to avoid the actual work

‘Nothing had gotten done’ - but it had! Good morning routines help you be calmer, get sunlight for wakefulness and later good sleep and vitamin D, hydrated, clean and in the right mindset to do you work day well. What Alex says sounds good on the surface but when you pause to consider it is actually reductionist nonsense, if it was politics it would be popularism - sound bites without substance.
