Finally, someone shooting this gun with factory ammo, if it shoots military-grade ammo and does well then you know it is worth it.

It was really appreciated that you guys explained your process of dialing in your trajectory/velocity and all that. I just got good at figuring that out with my bows. It'd be cool if you guys did a more tutorial style videos for new hunters like myself.

There are plenty of long range shooting channels that talk about those things. PRS shooters would be better to learn about that kind of stuff than a hunting channel. Not nocking the BRO guys, but there are some guys out there that are really good at teaching that stuff.

Seams like a good rifle but to be honest they need to start offering this in short and long action magnums 7mm and up none of these calibers produce the kind of performance that a lot of people like me are looking for, a 300 prc for elk would be awesome. This is the only thing holding me back from buying a cross rifle.

We are definitely pushing for that as well. I had no idea the amount of time and testing that has to be done to get a new firearm to the market. It takes a long time to just test a barrel that you only add a few inches to.

We saw this gun at the Western Hunt Expo and I’m pretty sure they are coming out with the other calibers and it will actually be a interchangeable action and barrel so you can literally buy just the action and barrel and swap them out and keep the base of the gun! The Sig rep said they would range anywhere from a .223 to 300 win mag eventually! He showed us at the show how easy it is to swap the pieces out too. Very impressive!

For anybody wondering the sig cross 6.5 comes standard with a 18 inch barrel, which is what most of them are you see at bass pro and gun stores. I originally got the 18 inch by accident when I realized it I called my gun store they wasn't aware of the 24 inch cross which is labeled "born and raised outdoors" on the side of the gun. After calling around bass pro shop and about 10 other stores nobody even knew they make a 24 inch, I pressed my gun store hard to find one and they finally did. If you look online there isn't much about them and it's like they was limited production, my gun store found someone that has several @ $1999.. anyways I've never shot with a scope a day in my life until today, vortex pst 5x25x50 on my sig 24 inch. The scope was just boresighted at 50yrds, we shot with around 15mph wind today at 75 yards I destroyed a 3inch by 3inch target. At 175 yards I was in 4 inch groups around the bullseye literally at almost dark I could barely see the target at all with 20/10 vision and I was proped up awkwardly on the truck hood without a rest.. I'm very impressed going to try up to 750 yards on our fields once it's sighted in and move up to a larger field once I'm confident but I give the sig cross a 10/10!!! ALSO the 24 inch with the huge pst scope weighs 10.1lbs on the dot and my buddy's ruger precision 6.5 with the 24 inch barrel and identical scope weighs 15.6 LBS they are the exact same height as well for comparison on a similar rifles weight difference.. the cross kicks a little harder than the ruger I'm sure because it being heavier helps recoil.
@dad3562

Excellent comment! Do you think the 18 robs the cartridge of the 6.5? The max I’d shoot is 800 yards on deer. I’m disturbing out to 900-1000 with my 7 mag but recoil is bothering my brain as I get older due to TBI’s.

My first time shooting past 100 yards, I made hits at 1,100 yards on an 18"x18" target with a 20" Bergara B14 HMR in 308. These days most precision bolt guns from reputable manufacturers can make hits at 1,000+ yards fairly easily (assuming the caliber is appropriate).

Honestly, this is a great looking rifle. The only reason I don't already own a Sig Cross is because in my opinion a 16" barrel on a .308 is just way too short. I don't love the hanguard, but if it is removable I might pick one up.

Its not velocity its Trajectory, you use the velocity to predict your trajectory. Then your trajectory gives you your POI (Point of Impact) of course then you have to deal with wind for left and right, your POI (low & High) are easier to predict because at long distance you can't always tell what the wind is going to do. Its better to have a coronagraph to make sure of your muzzle velocity, like you said the box is not always exact.
@BonesMcCrackin
@BonesMcCrackin 2 жыл бұрын
lol, yea, Trent gets ahead of himself now and then. It took a while for me to get what he was trying to say as well... He's wanting to adjust the Velocity (value) that he enters into his app so that the Elevation/Impact is on at said distance... I got it by the end, but it was confusing at first. Kind of like the "vertical" line he drew horizontally on the target...? ; )

I was hoping you would use the velocity calibration feature in the app instead of just entering a higher velocity. I finally got to shoot at 425 yds with mine and it was 4" high, used the velocity calibration and it changed from 2960 to 3251to be on at 425.

Very nice gun! I am not that familiar with long range shooting and adjusting the scope to keep crosshairs on target. So wondering if shooting at an uphill angle like you were shooting downhill at your target is the velocity number the same? Like the videos
@arttrumbo9496
@arttrumbo9496 2 жыл бұрын
velocity is the same, however, the effect of gravity is different depending on the angle. Most whitetail bowhunters use rangefinders with an angle compensation function that calculated the horizontal distance to the target rather than the stright line distance. This gives them an accurate holdover so they don't overshoot the target. It works exactly the same with long range shooting.

Worth noting the stock folds from the factory. So it’s really easy to backpack with. Didn’t really cover that in this video. Amazing gun imho. Stock barrels (maybe not this version) need careful torquing when you add a muzzle brake. I keep reading they do well with a can but I don’t have a stamp so I can’t comment on that. CarbonSIX makes a number of carbon barrels for them that help with weight and give you many other chambering options.
