Meet Richard Overton, America's oldest veteran. Born on May 11, 1906, he has celebrated 110 birthdays (109 at the time of filming) and counting. The supercentenarian has lived through the Great Depression, served in World War II, and witnessed the rise of the Internet. From the Ford Model T to self-driving cars, more technological and scientific progress have occurred in Overton's lifetime than perhaps any other century in history.
The whiskey-drinking, cigar-smoking elder reveals his secrets to longevity in this lively short film.

I remember seeing your report a few months ago, and telling myself that other people still alive lived through so many different times. I have just learned of his death, I look again at your report, and I tell myself that things that were contemporary even yesterday, now belong to the past. It's a pretty weird feeling. (sorry for my English)

Coffee actually has been proven to prolong life a bit... people who excessively drink coffee have 53% less chance to commit suicide.. people who drink 6+ cups a day had 15% less death related diseases in the years 40-50... there was some study done where people were participating for 20 years... their coffee drinking habits were datamined , don't remember the study name but im sure if u'd google you'd find it....

He lived to be 104, and thanks to my family, i got to be present for his 100th birthday, and he astonished me by how he remembered who I am, despite not seeing me for almost 18 years. When I saw my great-grandpa pour himself a cocktail, I aaked my dad if it was wise for him to be drinking alcohol, and my dad patted me on the shoulder and said "Son, he's been having a cocktail a day since I've been alive. I'd be more worried if he chose to not have a drink." RIP Mr. Overton, I'm sure you're missed.

I feel genuine sadness knowing that legends like these are leaving us. Men today are rarely like this. These are the true veterans I admire. And this is the reason I respect all that broke their bodies for what they truly believed in. I have met a lot of broken veterans that I can only help in limited capacity. I swear, that I’ll do more once I can. Not just for veterans but the people that need help and are unable to get it. I was saved recently, both physically and spiritually. I want to pass on that blessing to others. God bless you all.

Because our western culture and dark forces attempt to create divisions between people and this is just another one; creating generational divides between people that have previously existed for millennia. Obviously one who has experience from age has wisdom and knowledge to share with the younger and less experienced. Modern internet culture does just the opposite because the more you can divide people the more you can control and exploit them.

@@Smokiejoe679 If you're curious, one of the comments said that he died on Dec 27, 2018, at the age of 112. I don't know if that's true, but another person said he died in that year, so I believe it. What a great run, though, eh? And it seems like he was literally in the driver's seat for all of it.

I come back to richard every once in a blue moon to remind myself what life is about and how sometimes the little things are the biggest things. And for the hard times just think about what he said “i might give out, but i wont give up”

Crazy how this guy would’ve nearly been a teenager by the end of WW1, and would have many significant memories from that era, including when the automobile wasn’t as common a sight on the dirt roads as horses were. God bless him, and may he rest in peace
