Winter is not over yet. I take an overnight trip to the forest and my load-out for camping is simplistic: The Canadian army sleeping bag, a ground pad and a few original hamburgers.
Here is the video of how the whole thing in the snow unfolded.

Love your accent, listening beyond that your english is excellent , congratulations. Just for the record 20 years ago I worked in Russia building the British embassy. Winter saw temperatures of around 30- at times 10 hour shifts ,this was hard living the Finns who we worked with were the toughest people I have ever seen . They were totally organised as well as acclimatized and we were a shower of incompetent planning wirh no effective winter gear. The Finns were very douer and you had to gain their respect , once gained then they were very helpful. They like a drink too. Respect.

You mention your friend who is disabled. I grew up in the Rocky mountains hiking, fishing, camping, skiing and generally enjoying the great outdoors. But, due to a spinal cord injury I now use a wheelchair. I have made a few videos of some equipment I use that lets me still get out into nature (not quite Helsinkipop level though) so if your friend is in a wheelchair, he might find them interesting.

@@Helsinkipop I am tall (5'10) as well so do understand what you mean! I usually get the extra long everything if it comes in longer for us tall people. Another suggestion would be to put them in the bag and place a disposable hand warmer in the toe of each boot before bed, stuff a glove in each ankle part then close the bag tightly, that should do the trick!

Dear sir, it's not usual for wolves to attack humans. In the case they could approach you while sleeping only for curiosity or smelling the food you made at the camp. Even if they did attack you, that knife alone wouldnt be so effective. It would be wiser to carry a repelent spray (or even pepper spray) or something noisy like blank shots or even a gun (dont know if they are allowed in Finland). Anyway, for my knowledge there are also bears in the region, right? As a tip, you could use the tree branches to cover your belongings and put it underneath the ground sheet to avoid cold from the ground. Be carefull, keep living.

To avoid demonetization, the first thing is to make a very detailed description for the video. Not for people to read, but for the google bots that are sniffing around for forbidden content. The bots don´t like knives and axes, but if you tell them that it´s for camping purposes only, they might let it go.

Hi there Pop .. I've watched this one before .. am just enjoying a re-run (at my age .. 70 Summers, I cannot remember what I did yesterday 🙄). 2:39 .. the Snow-Stamping-Down-Bit .. is that the Finnish Version of a 'Lord of the Rings Irish Folk Dance' Number? As we're going into Winter .. haven't had a decent one here for years in our neck of the Woods (Rheinfelden Switzerland), I need to brush up on my Survival Skills in case I'm 'caught short' and have to make a shuffle out of the Woods back home (Geriatric Bladder 😏) .. dare not use the Forest, those inquisitive 'Swiss Grannies' are everywhere 👀. They are however, sitting at their Windows, the World's best Security Surveillance System. Just some idle chat ..Take care ..

Maybe it's mostly a white mans "sport" because we have the most of Neanderthal in us. :) I like that idea of sleeping pad on army webbing. @@Helsinkipop Thanks! :) I found the boots, they are available here too, sold as working boots, I see. You wouldn't happen to remember how much did that sleeping set on your Alice weight? I packed all my sleeping stuff into one pack yesterday, using light Czechoslovakian poncho as a bag. Tried attaching it to webbing instead of the backpack, (so far I tried East-german and Communist Poland webbing), but it was just too heavy (5kg because it was -12C outside) and kept dragging me down and choking after a while. I have to either go lighter or try a different webbing, I have a very modern one I haven't tried yet. imgur.com/a/LuNPd0m

@@Helsinkipop I'd strap it to the bottom of my British Army bergen and carry it that way. I've seen you use this technique many times too :) . I read this comment on another video: "I’m a heating engineer / wildcamper, and know all thermal 'Btu’s', (British thermal units) and all the science that goes with it, use silver foil insulation under the bag first, then the mat, and another cheap silver foil bubble wrap on the ground sheet..... Everest here we come 👍🏼🥳.", so he recommends using those cheap, silver foil blankets to increase the 'r' value of his sleeping system, one foil mat under his ground mat and the other foil mat positioned under his sleeping bag. I don't know if I'd want to carry all of that gear when on foot, mate, but as the old British Army saying goes, "Travel light, freeze at night.". Thanks for your reply :) .
