From a five star hotel to cold subzero winter camping with the French Army F2 tent. I'm almost submerged in snow as the freezing conditions sweep across Finland. This "Survival Evolved" game mod is very realistic, kids! Solo camping during an Arctic blast is something everyone should try once. So, take the plunge and join me.

I love these tents. We own two and I’m considering buying more for when they eventually wear out. I live in Wyoming where the winds reach 30-50mph pretty much everyday and have camped in this tent with winds gusting to 65mph. It has held up superbly! The only place I wouldn’t camp in this tent is a place experiencing a monsoon as the upper vents tend to allow a minor amount of spray in.

do you use the canvas one which is the F1 or the nylon (same material ass all current tents these days) which is the f2 , I ask because I always see people saying the F2 nylon is terrible for leaks and condensation and everything , I own the canvas one and am yet to sleep in it but hear amazing things about it , hence buying

Ekstra: I was in the army in the cold war era too. Mobile infantry - cannon food, as we called it. Most exercising "fight & retreat" against the Warsaw Pact. I remember, at a special survival maneuver we slept outside on the ground - only w an extra cotton parka-coat and 2 thin wool blankets. It was down to -20 C that winter. I don't have to tell it was C-O-L-D and we froze our asses off :) Furthermore, we had to undress and go shower in a barn after a simulated gas-attack. Well - it was fun and another time, we were not pussies and we didn't complain. Today I guess everybody would need assistance from a psychologist after such an experience... I heard, that todays recruits starts the career with a progress of getting used to boots :D

Haha. Actually have nothing but respect for French military, both modern and the traditional. Its amazing what a few surrenders do to reputation especially in this meme-age. Seriously speaking France has historically always been a conquering nation and has amazing military history. Also today they have a pretty big, efficient military that takes part in a whole lot of things. Greetings from Finland 👍

So appreciate your sardonic insights on modern life. As for the Chinese, when I was teaching there 26 years ago, my university students were almost incapable of going anywhere on their own, always traveling at least in pairs and often in threes and fours. When they asked what I did for fun and I said hiking alone in the forest, they were shocked at such an undertaking. "Teacher, aren't you afraid?"

@RandomButtonPusher

@@redlock4004 Well, as a waiguoren (barbarian) I only made sense to the Chinese when they saw my work unit badge and they knew to what group this "panda" -- i.e. exotic creature that must be cared for -- belonged. I should add, though, that the Chinese were very welcoming to us -- which was not the case experience among the Japanese for a fellow teacher who arrived in Sichuan straight from teaching in Japan. She said she was never allowed to forget she was an outsider there.

Enjoyed your outing. Granny just doesn't get it. As most elderly females. My 70 year old spouse doesn't participate, but tolerates my dementia. I love your wry sense of humor. Winter camping is my favorite, although the temperatures are erratic over here near Memphis, TN USA, at 35 degrees Latitude, swinging wildly from shirt-sleeve weather to zero centigrade and lower, and rarely snow. Tje summers are sultry and ridden with ticks and mosquitos. I live on the wrong end of Tennessee. The Eastern end is fantastic, cool mountains and spectacular scenery. I make the 400 mile drive as often as possible.
