One thing i would like is physical clouds because when you go to planet it would be cool to have giant clouds or storm where you can't see anything unless you are under the clouds. in my opinion this is the best game in space theme. Have a nice day! "i'm czech"

yep, if you look on show "Lost in space" on netflix, you can see that when you are leaving planet or going to planet you cant see anything. or 2 layers of clouds etc.@@helohel5915

"the best game in space theme" may be... but don't 100% right (cuz we have KSP, EVE, Elite, etc), so we should specify what "best", realistic - KSP, Role-play and "wild space" is Elite and EVE. For me - YES, SE - IS THE BEST. SE is the best in "Space Sandbox" theme.

What I would love is the game not having small and large grid but only the small grid but with blocks that are different sizes. That way you could build much more detailed and better designed large ships, stations, vehicles... anything really. You could build ships where the floors of different decks are only as thick as a small block, but only use very few 1x5x5 armor blocks for instance, keeping the pcu low. And you wouldn't have to miss out on decorative blocks when building small vehicles. This was discussed in a life stream once.

Jan recently shared it will be 1 grid size of 25cm blocks. So a standard Red Ship would still be the same, but all the big 1x1x1 blocks would actually be 4x4x4

I feel like "Space" is a bit overlooked even in the current Space Engineers. I'd love to have better Asteroid Belts, asteroid compositions, maybe even events (asteroid shower etc). It feels like since the introduction of planets, so much gameplay is made based on planets instead of the actual space. Also, it feels like the current game changed from a very PvE focused game to a very PvP focused game. I'd love to see more activities and possibilities in PvE.

Been following this man on twitter for ages and seen all his little updates, but man is it good to hear people ask him questions and him having so many answers. Really hope they get water to work well. Want to be able to submerge a vessel without water popping through. Looks like with the damn they got it to work well enough so we'll see eventually I'm sure. Good luck Keen, been playing space engineers for 10 years, lets go for another!

The water physics look great! The overhangs of the world generation is amazing as well. I’d love to see this in space engineers, as well as all the other cool features. Most excited about the new destruction physics, I’ve always wanted to crash a big starship into a planet without watching a slideshow

its so strange that this was the third game i ever bought on steam so crazy the fact that I've been playing this game since i was 13 which is so weird to say that ive been playing the game for a decade and will (hopefully) continue to do so cant wait for the new Space engineers everything looks so sick I hope you keep the steam integration for mods Or have something similar for mod loading and some kind of way to sae mod list for SP playthroughs and coop Playthroughs with a way to share the mod list and load it at once without going through each mod and enabling it

48:10 Someone could mod a fuel and oxidizer tank that shifts its center of mass depending on acceleration forces or make an internal baffle tank mod that adds a little extra weight and power requirement, as well as material costs for working with pressurized or liquefied propellants, that keeps the tank predictable or balanced. Using inertial moments based on thruster positions and weight distributions would be a nice easy (hard mode) feature to implement given the authors were motivated to look into the simple calculations.

17:00 Its still unoptimized if you don't understand parallelism, scheduling, queuing, race, locks, hierarchical and branched structure etc in an efficient manner. If you don't do it right you will just end up waiting for an inefficient pipeline and thrashing buffers and buses while over or under utilizing parts of the compute.

Personally, I find that having some kind of aerodynamics would be more fun than not having it. I think that it would add a lot. I have multiple friends who agree. Orbital mechanics I feel would be more confusing than fun, unless executed perfectly.

I think its more about people making a spaceship design without that in mind. To keen I think they prioritize players having the creativity to design a brick and it function just as well as a paper airplane.

Yes, aerodynamics have many elements, even a simple air drag model would be nice to have. Orbital mechanics would be nice but max speed needs to be a lot higher than 100 m/s and some kind of map view is required.

For aerodynamics I could see a system similar to Trailmaker's or Scrap Mechanic's Wings mod, it's still much simplified but allows for many cool things

I want them to look into higher relative velocities. Maybe they even need to switch to a different physics engine at high enough relative speed to handle collision detection, but the SE speeds are painfully slow for space, and many factors of space travel are irrelevant because of the low speeds (such as orbits).

18:00 I hope that dependency system allows mods to be as good as mod loaders from 17 years ago, when everything was listed in conflicting tree format with ordering, batch toggling, conflict overrides, and overwriting as well as detailed fine-grained error and other data showing the problem sub-areas from the mod code in color 😋

Will we have NPC? Will we have large scale combat at respectable FPSs? Will we have sim speed at 1 no matter how crazy things get. You wish for this game to be more optimzed more connected ant not feeling like youre alone in the whole star system? Stay tuned to find out more.

Very nice, it would also be nice if the rendering of planetary surfaces would slowly remove the changes of the heightmap and flatten the surface when going far away, based on the radius of the planet and not being set for planets up to 120KM, so that large planets with a radius of thousands of KMs would be playable and not have terrain just go flat before its behind the horizon.

Literally grown up from 2013 with the game. Excstatic news that you are half way trough. Let it be its going to be bare bones as the start of SE1, i will regardless support the devs. Only drawback on playing the game constantly is sim speeds getting atrociously low in fights, ten years, so ten times more performance no? Hahaha kidding. Though wish so that would be trough. Currently working as robot programmer, and i came to that position Literally with 10 years prior experience😂. Keep up the work. Probably one of the few normals devs only around left.

Maybe KSH should consider an app that you could create and edit things basic things like character skins, factions, faction banners and logos, and interface it with the game itself. In addition, you could use the app for data references, building and gameplay guides, server standings, and a game lobby and chat like discord but dedicated to SE. An app like this would be insane especially for iPad. Deluxe edition purchases come with the app for free, or it could be a separate small purchase aside from the game like a DLC? I know with VRAGE3 there is a lot going on, but consider this…an app like this would draw in even more of a crowd and allow for a completely different type of gameplay and dedicated followership that would be essentially be able to be “jacked in” the game in some form or another all the time even when not on the game itself.

Great presentation and I'd still blindly step into a kickstarter for SE2 if and when it were to be done and certainly will be a very early adopter once we can get our hands on the (no doubt) Alpha. Some great points made and well presented. The straight answer on UE5 was great and the explanation as to why it's not a suitable engine was one of the few times I heard an actual very valid argument being made for choosing not to. I also like the honesty Jan shows when the usual questions on Linux and Vulkan come up. He is very quick to ask the counter question "why", and he is right.. Vulkan is great on paper, but unless you plan to directly support Linux, there is really no point. And Linux is just not a viable commercial option to support with a very small and then also segmented market share in the desktop market. ppl in that small group tend to forget they are but a small corner in the bigger picture.

Couldn't make out a word of this, people are saying that space engineers 2 is happening? The steam page says there gonna release an update today but then provides no info on what the update will be? Would be interested in real statements of some kind

No one : VRAGE 3 : *WATER* I hope they actually setup their lore too. And alot of new features. SE lacked alot of things mostly fixed by modders but I kept seeing scenario makers just absulutely screaming at keep due Economy. It is very useful stuff. They showed it but balance of it not really that good. Well also quests... Well They just dont work. You can make custom quests now. Many scenarios suffers from that. I hope they get their thing well and clean. I hope many things done in more ... Wellcoding instead of Hardcoding like economy's Quests etc. Good Luck space engineers *2*

Please don't remake the same game again. There are a lot of gameplay potential even within confines of SE1. For example: - add mass to fuels, reaching orbit from ground should be harder. - add xenon gas for ion engines and make it like electricity which does not require conveyors, - add jet fuel for atmospheric engines - improve survival elements with drinks, food and mental health (mental helth decreases with lack of habitat; earth, large sealed areas, beautification plants, decorations..etc) - make progression refined, starting only on planets maybe in safe zones, jetpack shouldn't work in planetary gravity - make center of thrust matter but offset thrust can be corrected by gyro at the cost of reduced thrust and maneuverability, ...

This game is great! Everyone should try it! Consoles... They are killing the industry. Stagnating it's development at best. Sure the "easy" money is tempting, and developing for a common lower denominator sure makes life easier, but from an outside point of view, I feel like we lost half a decade of advancements.

​@jh5kl don't think. You misunderstood this. This is engine vrage 3 is new to upgrade graphics to space engineers. There are no sequels.

​@@masterx5533 VRAGE 3 was build from the ground up. For Space Engineers as it currently stands to receive these updates, it would need to be ported from VRAGE 2 to VRAGE 3. A monumental task, considering VRAGE 3 is a completely different framework.

Rather upgrade space engineers improve ton of which players deserves it. I get it what you say. Vrage 3 is big and probably take time to port on space engineers bigger update and upgrade gen.

Can you guys please make a setting to lower the quality so console players can have a chance at modded servers? Xbox series s with evrything uninstalled just your game and it needs 2 hard resets just to load into a server, it’s a brand new server aswell. Game needs to be better optimized but all I ask for is to be able to improve loading slightly for consoles. It’s not fair

You can't just toss a new engine into an existing game. That's litterally the core/framework of the whole thing. The work required to do so litterally amounts to building an entirely new game. And I'm pretty sure someone asked this question in the last presentation lol

As bad as the audio quality is on account of, you know, just sticking a mic somewhere in the room instead of, you know, tapping the room PA directly, it is, quite ironically, still better in terms of spatiality than Keen's audio in SE where the localization, playback start and stop, and level matching is just broken to Prague and back. Guess it just wouldn't be a Keen product if it didn't contain at least one painfully obvious and embarrassing flaw.

It sounds like the Devs of KSH dont know, that they created the most realistic space game in his kind so far. It would so nice to have a bit more realisim. I understand that the game hast to keep the "fun part", but come on. Why I have to build a ship, when I can´t fail a landing!? xD Learning by doing! And pls keep going! You all doin´ a really great job!

Why are they calling it leaks.... When a dev "reveals" something they usually call it a reveal.... A leak is something that is a bit of information that "unintentionally" gets to the public.... Please use correct words for the definition at hand This is a reveal not a leak You're a developer developers don't leak stuff they reveal stuff have a nice day

Why don't you come back on Medieval Engineers ? You keep publishing update on space but their is no new players, you keep losing base player each months... Medieval could be a new start or base for another game from your studio.
