We've kind of done the opposite. Come from Australia to live in the UK. We really miss the big tropical thunderstorms from Australia/Asia, but we love the UK summer, with its really long days. The biggest thing we miss when we think of The Philippines is the people. The Filipino people were all so lovely when we were there a few years back. ❤️

@pingyu5141

@@lsmith6378 well yes, almost everything is cheaper than from where you are, so if you have lots of money you could live like a king here. But if your level of consciousness about your money is that, filipinos well be running after you or scam you for your money.. yeah that was happening years ago when we still had corrupt governments, specifically after the Marcos era, right to before the Duterte administration. Mostly those people in government did not respect and didn't care for people living in poverty, which in turn those people didn't also think of caring and respecting people, and some even had criminal minds. Lol. But Presently filipinos in general is back to being loving, caring, friendly and generous. We want guests and foreigners to be happy in our country.

@@giggletravels Money don't grow on trees. You can have more people earning enough so they dont sleep on the streets and starve or you can have fewer people on jobs getting higher salary in exchange for more homeless on the streets. If they increase the min wage, either the company will pass the cost to consumers or let go of some of the staff. You're not supposed to make a career out of being a store clerk unless it's your own shop.

I am from the UK and I was there for 4 weeks from Dec 2019 - Jan 2020. I just cant wait to come back. My apartment is in Manila. Philippines shopping mall makes the shopping malls in England look like a cupboard. You can get up to 4 malls within a square 2 miles, unlike England, you have to travel up to 2 hours from one to another. Enjoy it guys and hope to connect on my next visit. I totally agree with you on all points.

The downside is (from my observation), drivers from the Philippines are normally not used to following the rules of the road. It's more of, "whatever goes". That's why EDSA is like a battlefield. This poses a problem when everyone else around you expects you to behave a certain way on the road--like following your own lane or not changing lanes at an intersection.
@EdgarTeoxon
@EdgarTeoxon 4 жыл бұрын
I'm a Filipino, but for me, nothing beats Mumbai and Delhi (and Bangalore, while we're at it). We Filipinos use our side mirrors and not take over lanes if we see that we won't fit. In India, the fold their side mirrors, because they think it is an unnecessary car accessory. My Indian companion told me that I need three G's to be able to drive there and they are, A Good Break, A Good Horn (Busina) and a Good Luck

I am a Filipina who migrated to the UK in middle age, and when I started living here I was so disheartened by the fact that you cannot just walk in a dentist’s clinic and have emergency tooth treatment. You needed to book and you can of course go private but it will cost you an arm and a leg. I needed a specialised root canal and it cost us 600 pounds! So whenever I go back to visit, I have all dental, eye and cosmetic treatments like facials, massages etc. which are pricey in the UK. Other than that I love the UK. I have dual citizenship. Thanks and more power. Will follow your vlog. Watching fr Hoddesdon, England.

I've worked & lived in UK (Coventry, West Midlands). Mostly spot-on on what these 2 said in this episode. Here are other things that are quite unique in UK: 1. Higher tax (salary-based). Other taxes such as TV tax, Road tax, & Council tax. 2. Free medical (unless you want private hospital, and if you are a tourist). 3. Disciplined drivers and their transport system is very good, but less public vehicles during Sundays & holidays. 4. Expensive car park fee. 5. Roundabouts (Rotunda in the Phils.) which can be confusing at first. 6. Beaches are cold (even during summer). 7. Malls close early specially in small cities/towns. 8. Brits' love of Fish & Chips, Football (soccer), tea, reality TV. 9. Brits call lunch "dinner" and dinner "tea" or supper. 10. They love asking "Are you alright?" no matter how many times you've bumped into each other in workplaces. 11. Different spellings of certain words, like paedia/pedia, colour/color. Words like loo (CR/toilet), ages ago, cab (taxi), push bike (bicycle), cheers (thank you), and many others. 12. They tell times differently: quarter past 2 (2:15), half-past six/half-six (6:30). I might have forgotten something else, feel free to add. Cheers!!!

One life enjoy it at least we will all die with a smile in our face with halo halo on a 🏖. 😂10 more years you will see a diverse population. But we hope they will integrate and be more friends with LOCALS rather than co-European vloggers. Telling everybody Filipinos are nice and friendly but no genuine effort to integrate gives them a wrong message that you stay in Philippines for massive audiences and rack up KZfaq income. I know culture and language is way different but Pinoys integrates abroad so can you. No harm!

I remember your post at the start of the quarantines. Good to see that you've completely adapted. Shop assistants here get bored when no one's shopping. Customers provide human contact and you know by now that Filipinos love company. Movies. Hollywood sometimes tests the market by showing movies here first. The only drawback is, with Filipinos practically attached to the (slow 🙄) internet, spoilers spread fast. Social media is the best for getting around the quarantines. You can be at home and eat a previously unknown neighbor's special cooking. There's also "pasabuy" where you can practically ask someone out shopping to buy something for you and just add a little for the gas. Malls are the modern "plaza" where people used to converge. Plazas were usually at the center of the town. The church is there. Local government is there. People sell food there. Dances and concerts are held there. Children run around everyday. Back when the slow community-centered life is the rule.

I love this vlog. And I'm glad you love living in the Philippines. I've been living in the States for 40 years and now that I'm retired, we are planning to move back to Manila soon. I found the 11 ways you mentioned very interesting. The first one is Delivery which I found amusing but understandable. In the US, deliveries are not common. In Manila, they deliver McDonald's or Jolibee, etc. Only in the Philippines! Second, is there is no snow in the Phil. I think the closest you will get to snow is frost and you might see that in Baguio during Jan/Feb.. And lastly, I like your analysis about driving in manila. I agree that you just have to go with the flow instead of getting irritated with the traffic and driving habits of the Filipinos. When I'm there, I don't drive because I get irritated just by being a passenger. I can still drive in Manila but with your analysis, I just may be able to drive with a different attitude. One question and you don't have to answer this. Are you guys applying for residency in the Philippines, i.e. as immigrants? Just curious. Thank you for your time in reading this (hopefully you read it). Great vlog. Take care.

Hi guys , I’m a filipino but I moved here in the UK in 2003 . We lived in the cotswolds which is an amazing place for 5 years before settling in Bromsgrove. We have a house in Baguio , everytime we go home my daughter who was born here in the Uk don’t want to leave baguio, she hate warm weather so obviously anywhere outside baguio is hot” 😅Hopefully she can change her view as she grows as she is more a Brit than pinoy .&I’ll show her this video of yours. Thanks ,cheers 😀

I couldn't agree more with you regarding driving there, Lucy. You really do have to adopt a more flexible, relaxed and go-with-the-flow approach. The "chaos" actually becomes quite pleasant and enjoyable. And I noticed how relaxed drivers are there. Thanks for reminding me of the things to be grateful for about my country and heritage. Love the UK, too! I love the art and cultural diversity of London :-)

I think the reason why your orders get to you in just a couple of hours is because you're in Manila. In the Philippines most of the suppliers for online selling is based on Manila or any parts of Luzon. That is why for some of us who lives here in the southern parts like Visayaz and Mindanao, we can relate to you about your orders taking about a few days or weeks before it gets to you.

Hindi kasi araw araw sila nag dri drive. Minsan lang ata palabas pa ng Manila and they usually drive sa provinces sa pinas. Pag foreigner ka and you work in makati at nag dri drive ka araw araw ma stress ka talaga pero pag monsan lang at palabas pa ng manila, mas maluwag talaga ang policy natin compare sa ibang bansa lalo at marami masunurin sa ibang bansa

@pashonfroot
@pashonfroot 4 жыл бұрын
People are friendly, yes. Those rushing to get a tube train would even stop by to help me with my suitcase, etc. I think what they meant was that here, people just do their thing. When you enter a shop, some staff may greet you but will leave you to browse while they carry on with their job. In the Phils, you have staff that are doing the job that needs to be done, then you have people who will follow you around to make sure there’s someone there to help you. When you’re walking around in the UK, some people think it’s weird if you smile at them and they don’t know you. In the Phils, people will smile at you or even go the extra mile to say hi or something.

I was born in the Philippines but I live in Ontario, and I noticed the same thing that you guys did when it comes to store staff. Recently my family and I went back for vacation and as soon as I entered the SM department store to buy some clothes, I had about two or three of their workers come up and ask how they can help and what stuff I was looking for. One of them even walked with me throughout the whole store to help me locate each item. Needless to say, the shopping experience was smooth and the only trouble I had was choosing from the huge variety of styles. And I agree with you 100% about the size of the malls in the Philippines, they're huge! I swear you need like at least a full day or even more to fully get through all of MOA.

I've always considered the UK my second home, mainly because I was married to an English gentleman for four decades, who sadly passed away over two years ago. I have lots of British friends I've met four decades ago. I find the British friendly and helpful. I got stuck in Gatwick for a week and moved around airport hotels a couple of months ago because of the bad weather and the imminent coronavirus that was making many people in a state of panic. However, I'm planning my post-John life and might choose Cebu. Why? It doesn't seem to get earthquakes. Also, I love the Cebuano language. It's not repetitive unlike Tagalog. Your observations re the Philippines is 97% accurate and that says a lot about your being a workaholic. Thank you for opening the eyes of many people. Thank you for being there and enjoying life, young as you both are. Cheers from getting warm Spain!

Thank you very much for all the positive views about my beloved country. I totally agree with your opinion. I now reside in the UK with my family. We are very fortunate to be UK citizens and there are things that you can’t compare a first world country to a developing country such as education, healthcare system, infrastructure, public transport, pollution, environment, political system , quality of life, etc. You are absolutely right when you mentioned about the warm and happy-go-lucky mentality of Filipinos. They are resilient because challenges and hardships in life are just part of their day to day existence. I love my home country hence I acquired dual citizenship. I invested organic farming in the Philippines to support employment and sustainable way of life. I intend to retire soon in both countries and explore tourism business to attract UK citizens to visit the Philippines and Filipinos to visit the UK. Good luck to you both and I wish you success. All the best!

Great observations! Very honest! Surprised about the driving, lol! When my pastor and his wife went to visit, they were stressed with the driving:). There’s little discipline, but I’m so used to it that I forgot how others would see it:). BUT I know exactly what you mean as well! I currently live here in the States and have been living here close to 20 years, but I still prefer driving in the Philippines! It’s basically coz I feel I can do anything, lol. I turn when I want to, unlike here where there are tons of places you can’t turn, you have to do a left turn to go right (Michigan left, they call it) coz of a No right turn sign, etc. There are many more rules:). I feel a bit more carefree when I drive at home in the Philippines:).
