Battle between Yuri Zkharevich - Stefan Botev (250KG CLEAN AND JERK!) - Rizvan Geliskhanov...
Here is the third session of 1990 European Weightlifting Championships (Aalborg, Denmark). Sadly I only have 90, 100, 110 & +110kg's session, because there were no tv-broadcast about the other categories. In this 110kg's | heavyweight category we can see such an athletes like the soviet - olympic, world & european champion - Yuri Zakharevitch, the great Botev and the silver medalist at the year before Geliskhanov (in the +110kg, 1989). In the snatch Botev was the third with 195kg (2nd attempt, also he had the highest bodyweight), Yuri made 200kg (3rd attempt) and as a surprise Rizvan made 202,5kg as a second try after a huge 10kg step (1st att 192,5kg). In the clean and jerk: first attempts: 225kg for Rizvan, 227,5kg for Yuri, 230kg for Stefan. Second circle: Rizvan made 232,5kg; Zakha missed 237,kg, Botev waited... Third circle: Rizvan finished with 237,5kg; Yuri moved up 5kg - after a wrong attempt - to 242,5kg to win.. and he made it! BUT THEN... Stefan Botev had 2 attempt, the weight moved up 20KG compare his first attempt... big breath, big pull, ridiculous speed to go under the bar... tight lower back, really hard standing up... breathe, jump, jerk, hold it!, hold it!... and he holds for long long seconds, where the hell is the down signal? Botev was really upset, but... juries give 3 white light; he made it! Botev who was only third in the snatch nad has the highest bodyweight just nailed 250KG CLEAN AND JERK (full raw, without belt, or something). I consider myself as a Yuri' fan but this was really awesome!

This category is almost amazing... i remember number of "110/108/105/109" able to destroyed supers...stephan Botev or Youri Zakharevitch ...more last .Timmur taimazov

Zakharevich had some lockout problems with his jerk after 1988 due to his elbow injuries, although his snatch was still the best in the game. Never knew why he didn't compete in the 1992 olympics.

alexeev wanted to ban kurlovich in favor of taranenko but taranenko told him that he wouldn't do too great due to his knee injury so kurlovich was let in. but i never heard about any bans of zakharevich by alexeev

In 1992 Zakharevitch would`ve been 29 y.o.. For some it`s an old age. I have arthritis, but I`m 62. They all age at a different rate. Viktor Solodov wouldn`t compete in 1988, he was only 25 at that time.

@@-waltt3467 well, taranenko won european championship at the age of 40 so I think the age wasn't a big deal

Да, у Захаревича спад. 1988 год оказался пиком в его карьере. Как и у Тараненко, да и у Курловича. Хотя Саша потом ещё не раз выиграл, да и вырвал 215 кг, но в общем пошёл спад. Тараненко тоже выиграл ещё ЧМ потом, но уже на пик не вышел. Но ещё в 1996 году выиграл ЧЕ. В 40 лет.

Что случилось с Захаревичем после 88? В 89 мимо с толчком, здесь и в рывке сам не свой.

Он, Храпатый и Курлович прекратили сотрудничать со своими личными тренерами посчитав себя звездами и из за жадности. Все трое стали сразу деградировать в результатах. В общем христоматийная история неблагодарности человеческой.

@@andrewandrew5674, а есть более подробная инфа? В общем похоже, тем более что Храпатый всегда ассистировал обоим, а при той самой попытке Курловича толкнуть за 265 кг видно как переживал Захаревич. По моему скромному мнению всей тройке закрутил гайки через допинг контроль, свои закрутил, что бы неповадно было самодеятельность устраивать. Как тренироваться все трое давно уже знали, свой организм давно изучен.

@@Oleg_Zaharov здравствуйте! С Храпатым я тренеровался и это было все на моих глазах. Про эту троицу Тараненко говорил много в свои интервью печатных. 25 летию барселоновской олимпиаде интервью он давал . Есть в интернете оно. Почитайте интересно. Там интриг больше чем в театре было. Алексеева они скинули в первой половине 80-х.

А на счет личных тренеров , то они их с детства вели. Ближе отцов были. Они знали психологический подход к ним. И все таки дисциплинировали их. Одного таланта мало оказадлсь. Посмотрите их резудьтаты в кардиффе на чемпионате европы 1988 и в следующие годы. Деградация в килограммах. Курловича тренера инфаркт ударил после того как он его отодвинул и стал тренером писать своего брата...
