I have a king nitro 12g. Have shot it numerous times No problems at all.

I have a 1906 Le Fever Nitro 12 gauge double barrel, I use it to shoot skeet and I use modern shot shells, no problem. I also own a Remington 1901 double barrel in Damascus steel and was told not to fire it, well I used it for skeet with modern shells and never had a problem with it !!!

Looks like a Hopkins-Allan built for Sears. Test using a heavy modern duck load , tie it to a tire, pull trigger from a distance with a string. Then, if it holds togeather, it's probably OK to use light trap loads, or avoid chance of wrecking it, and reload shells with black powder?

I have an nr davis double barrel shotgun with a twist barrel. Some people do shoot them with modern shells, however they are made for black powder and that is considered safer. Also you might check the chamber length as many of those old guns were made for 2.5 inch shells.

I have a king nitro 12 gauge. A double nitro breach. Breach is hexagon for about half of the barrel length to round. Heavy. I have shot many times. Without problems.

Best and safest way is to use brass shells and black powder

No Go on the smokeless ammunition, UNLESS you put a smaller gauge insert adapter into it, then you should be fine.

Genuine Twist usually means what they call a damascus barrel. Except in this situation it isnt a cool layered blade steel, it is wire twisted on a mandrel with steel applied after. Dont shoot as the layers can seperate because of time. I have an original Tobin side by side made in the original American facility that so far as I can tell was made in 1907. It is, however, safe to shoot once I get the chambers opened to modern 2.75" standards.

This would be a perfect candidate for some short lane adapters. Get the 3-9 inch adapters to shoot handgun loads safely.

First, ascertain if you have a 2 1/2 inch chamber. Most guns made before WWII did not come with the common (today) 2 3/4 inch chamber. Second, is the action tight? Third, how is the inside of the barrel? If there are no big dents, no really big pit holes and the gun action doesn't rattle, I'd shoot it but only if using the proper fodder. I recommend you look into buying a case of RST shells. I shoot these in my 1896 German hammer SXS.

...it's called backlit... ...light coming from behind the subject instead of in front... ...makes your camera underexpose the subject...

I have a nitro hunter 12ga that looks similar and about the same age I’d like to know more about mine it has a smaller loop behind the trigger guard if that helps. I hung mine up on the wall in my room after i shot it of course just because id like to get it restored soon. I think you’ll be fine though. Does anyone know who makes the single shot lever style break down nitro hunter’s? Mine looks very old

"Genine Twist Barrel" is Damascus steel. NO GO for smokeless powder. Damascus Steel was made from so many small wires that were heated and hammered into a single sheet. Much weaker than than cast steel. If its not marked "Forged Steel", I'd be dubious of its integrity. My suggestion is pull the firing pin, hang it over the fireplace and use it as a conversation piece.
