Thank you Patrick for bringing back some wonderful memories. I took a holiday at Symonds Yat 25 years ago and the weather was perfect. Walked along to the Biblins and over the bridge several times and climbed up to the lookout. Stunning scenery and a beautiful area for peace and quiet.

Great film as always Patrick ! I lived in Mitcheldean for many years as a child. I used to cycle around this area as a child. One day my brakes failed on the steel hill and I hit the car in front of me at speed. Bent my wheel so a long walk back to Mitch. Oh happy days.

Patrick, I have been watching your videos for about a year now and have greatly enjoyed them. The scenery is fantastic and you do a great job of capturing their beauty. And, your music is very soothing. I watch one of your videos almost every night as I wind down for bed. As an avid outdoorsman living in an equally beautiful part of the world (Tennessee in the US) I can really appreciate the Forest of Dean. I hope to see it one day soon. By the way, my Skipper ancestors came to America in the 1600's from Lincolnshire. Thanks again for your videos and do please keep them coming! Andrew in Nashville.....

This is my old stomping ground as I was born in Gloucester and grew up in Chepstow, so knew this area well back in those days. Not so familiar with the Cotswolds, but went there a few times in later years. Cheers Chris 👍

Patrick that was wonderful,all your films are amazing but I haven't enjoyed one as much as that in ages,I didn't want it to end,it could go straight to tv as it is,everything was perfect about it,the views the music the information,you're relaxed soothing presenting style that makes you think you're just talking to the one viewer,I will probably watch it again tonight,I'm so familiar with that Forest of Dean composition too,I love it. I was in Croatia when I got the alert you had uploaded a new film and I wanted to wait until I came home to watch it and have looked forward to it,and it was my Saturday night's viewing,headphones on,a large cherry brandy from Dubrovnik,and I loved it,thank you so much,you have become a master of your art. Brilliant. Best wishes,Pete.

You are so kind Pete with all your lovely comments as usual. I'm so glad to hear how much you enjoyed this and that my "Melody of the Forest of Dean" is now familiar to you. It was a tune I used to hum in my head as a kid when I came to Symonds Yat, as well as other places in the Forest, for picnics with my family, so it's wonderful to know that this old tune has become a recognisable theme with others. Thanks again Pete and all the very best. Cheers, Patrick :)

Really excellent as always and what a bridge straight out of an Indiana Jones film. Loved the old fashioned river ferry and what views no wonder you love the place so much. Hope you have been coping well with the recent floods up there, see Lyme park took a battering such a shame. Thanks as usual for your top notch walks.

Yes Biblins Bridge does look like it could have been in an Indiana Jones film doesn't it. I've had no problems here with regards to the floods, it's been a few miles further north that's been more serious, i.e. Whaley Bridge. Thanks again for watching :)

Brilliant. I always love seeing that area Patrick. I tell you what you made some mighty fine statements there. 'The best views in Great Britain.' It is a fine view! When you got to the ferry I remembered watching the same guy happily only a few months back. There's something therapeutic in it. As for the Biblins bridge I imagined what Paul and I would be like had we come across you. I know we would have stopped on the bridge and said, 'alright mate,' (in stereo). And talked enthusiastically about the area and probably your filming. Hey I got 1957 right! How about that? Well, thoroughly enjoyable. I trust you're well. Mark

Hey Mark, how you doing? Great to receive your wonderful comments as always. Yep that view is really something isn't it? This was the main place I used to visit as a kid with family from Chepstow for days out and picnics, etc. Never tire of Symonds Yat. So you met the same ferryman when you were in the area a little while ago? He was definitely a cheerful chappy, nice to hear him serenading us as he took us across! :) What a great thought that is of perhaps encountering you and Paul on Biblins Bridge, that would have been wonderful. And yes 1957 was the correct answer, at least that's what I found out during my online research anyway. Well always great to hear from you Mark. Hope you're well too. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)

@@solitaryrambler I'm doing alright Patrick. Like you still out exploring. I resonate with your routes - that's forever there now. It simply won't go. As for the ferry man I was only watching him but it was calming. Yeah Paul would have liked you and we would have loved you together bro. It's what we were like. I like the 1957 - it goes back! Where you were standing on Symonds Yat Rock is an ideal place from which to view Buzzards and Goshawks. On the opposite side of the viewpoint you can see the Peregrines during the nesting season. As you observed, you can see down to where you walked previously.

A wonderful walk and beautiful part of the UK! It must have taken quite a while to cross Bilbins Bridge, with all the variety of shots and set-ups. 😃 I’m wondering if your walk coincided with the Wye Valley Walk. 🤔
@solitaryrambler
@solitaryrambler 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jean, I don't recall it taking too long to cross the bridge, but yes there were certainly lots of shots and set-ups. I would have walked a very short part of the Wye Valley Walk in this - it crosses Biblins Bridge and I would have followed it for a very short distance along the riverbank as far as the point where I turned off right along the track leading up to Mailscot Wood :)
