Yeah, I don't really know if the video maker wanted to make a joke or not, but the MA5 is obviously a body-kit for a M4, you can even see the bolt release, the long-ass slit with the charging handle poking out and the shortened magazine which actually holds the bullets rather than the fake bullpup magazine. I hope you can at least put a spare one into it.. 😂

interesting facts about 2 of the South African weapons platforms and the iconic german Mauser C96 (broom handle) pistol and it's cousin the Lugar 9mm pistol *Striker and Protecta 12 gauge shotguns (South Africa / SA) :* the striker was manufactured in small quantities and today exists only in the hands of collectors, specialized small units and museums like the royal armory. The protecta is more widely available and extremely reliable and practical for short engagements, provided that the weapon is properly maintained (prolonged use in combat though it is impractical due to it's very long reloading time - much like a single action revolver with an extractor rod) *Vektor H5 pump action rifle :* very robust due to being based off the galil and even more reliable due to it having even less moving parts. The weapon is primarily chambered in .223 and not nato 5.56mm (yes there is a slight difference in the casing shape near the "neck" of the round that makes extraction/ejection or even cycling a problem for most semi and auto rifles and even some bolt actions; yes there are a few weapons that can fire both without issue, but they are few and some sacrifice accuracy for this feature - Paul Harrell's youtube channel has an in depth video on this subject) on that note there are many other firearms that are availble from SA, not just the shotguns and pump rifle. There are also a range of curious pistols, anti material rifles, military issue assault rifles (mostly custom galil clones and FN FAL clones) and a very good range of bolt action hunting rifles (especially those based off the Mauser bolt action system which is famous for it's accuracy) *Last but not least:* yes the Mauser C96 broom handle pistols and the Luger WW1/WW2 9mm pistols are very rare and expensive in most countries, for the average gun owner who would love to own one on a budget there is a solution. Many companies around the world manufacture exact working replicas of those very same pistols but with modern manufacturing standards. Once purchased just take it to a gunsmith to add the military metal finish of the period, historically correct iron sights and a period correct wooden grip. Then just have them do a proper inspection and test of the interior workings and correction if needed (to prevent part wear or jamming) and go enjoy it on the range.

@wmpriest123
@wmpriest123 7 ай бұрын
@@trickmiller8169 that may currently be the case. However I remember back in the 80s reading an SA gun magazine about a firearm company in India that only manufactured replica firearms from flintlock to modern cartridge vintage weapons. Back then their range included the major WW1 and WW2 weapons and even replicas of japanese WW2 pistols. Did they go out of business, have they restricted manufacture to muzzle loaders and revolvers due to poor sales like you mentioned? Who knows. However with the newer generation of collectors perhaps a crowd funded project could encourage a small replica manufacturer to reproduce late 19th century, WW1 and early WW2 weapons. I know I would appreciate that.

The Vektor H5 you show is chambered in .223 Remington calibre which is not the same as the 5.56mm NATO. Differences between the two are small but can have a large impact on performance, safety and weapon function. The first difference is the higher pressure level of the 5.56 NATO cartridge which runs at approximately 58,000 psi. A 223 Remington is loaded to approximately 55,000 psi. The second and most important difference between the two is the fact that a 5.56 NATO chamber has a .125” longer throat. This allows approximately one more grain of powder to be loaded into a 5.56 NATO cartridge; this is what gives it higher performance than its 223 Remington cousin. The biggest problem with these differences is when firing a 5.56 NATO cartridge in a rifle chambered for 223 Rem. Due to the longer throat that the NATO chamber employs this combination will cause a 223 chambered weapon to run at approximately 65,000 psi or more. This is 10,000 psi higher than the 223’s normal functioning pressure of 55,000 psi. This is NOT safe and will cause primers to back out, or worse, cause harm to the operator, the rifle, or both. The reverse of this is firing a 223 Rem cartridge in a 5.56 NATO chambered rifle. Due to the throat difference between the two chambers a 223 Rem cartridge may not work optimally in a 5.56 NATO chambered weapon. The cause of this is the lack of pressure built by a 223 Rem cartridge fired from a 5.56 NATO chamber. The 223’s 55,000 psi will not be attained and therefore velocity and performance are hurt. Problems start occurring when this combination is fired out of a 5.56 NATO chambered rifle with a 14.5” (or shorter) barrel. The lower powder charge of the 223 round coupled with the pressure drop that occurs when it is fired in a the 5.56 NATO chamber will cause the rifle to cycle improperly. NATO chambered rifles with barrels longer than 14.5” should function properly when firing 223 Rem ammunition.

Even if it has a locking pin, there is a reason ar platforms and 90 percent of rifles have a locking pin or twist lock handguard. If that is even a thousandth of an inch off when you pull the trigger, you're looking at a catastrophic failure at relative close range to your face. I give you props for wanting to shoot it and think it's cool, but I have no reason for an AR to fit in a purse.

I can imagine it. Keep your finger off the God damn trigger of whichever one you don't want to fire. It's not typical to have two fire arms in one platform but everyone in the world is expected to keep their trigger finger off the trigger until they're ready to fire. A few hours of dry fire practice ought to do it. Of course people out there will ignore every basic rule of firearm safety, proceed to Crack open a but light and ND into their own crotch

8:11 - Actually, as the data stamp on this firearm states, it is chambered for the .223 remington round, NOT 5.56 x 45 NATO. It's very important that these two are not confused. Because, though the size of the cartridges is virtually the same, the size of the chamber (especially the freebore) is not. The other, and arguably more important difference, is that there is a significant enough pressure difference between 5.56 and .223. Though they ARE measured differently, using different equipment, it's not advisable to fire 5.56 out of a .223, because 5.56 operates at approx. 5,000 psi higher than .223. This is why it's okay to fire .223 out of a 5.56, but not the other way around.

@airplanenut89

It's an AR15 with a skin. SBR - Short Barreled Rifle is ANY rifle with a barrel length under 16in and is a Class 3 item under ATF rules, and must be registered with the Federal Government with an extended background check, and $200 tax stamp in order to own. After looking at that part again, he is indeed using an AR15 with a 16in barrel so it is just a standard rifle with a doofy skin that just screams the We have (insert thing) at home meme.
@carlsteffens
@carlsteffens Жыл бұрын
@@airplanenut89 there's a guy with a kel-tec p30 in a "skin" as you call it, that's actually a bullpup design and that barrel doesn't look to be 16inches that's why I called it a SBR. And unless you have a way to prove that is a 16 in barrel I'm sticking with it
@airplanenut89
@airplanenut89 Жыл бұрын
@@carlsteffens I remember the Kelt-tec video, and that because of the trigger mechanism he might end up being the reason for future ATF rules since he's used an electronic mechanism to bump-fire the trigger to mimic full-auto. He just slapped a full .22lr rifle into a skin. Since .22lr is a tiny round compared to the 5.56x45 (don't give me that fuddy-duddy "5.56 es .22, and .22 es a vermint rund" shit) the receiver area is much smaller so it better fits into the Halo AR skin better. I especially remember this video because I got into an argument with some dingus from Australia or the UK who didn't know squat about firearms designs. Anyway I can tell it's just a normal AR because I sold them for 5 years, have hands on time with the actual US M4, and: A) SBRs are annoying as fuck to get, and stuff like this Halo AR skin is done on the cheap. So why would someone go through the Class 3 process when you can just get a normal AR, and slap a skin on it? Saves time, and money. Especially when he did this for a video that is 67 seconds long. Yes, I watched the original video. Class 3 can take from 9 months to a year, and comes with ATF strings attached. SHIT GUN OWNERS DO NOT LIKE! B) Look at the position of the actual magazine, and ejection port vs the gas block, and the amount of barrel sticking out past the gas block. That is a 16in barrel. The M4 style AR15 is not a very big gun to begin with. The gas block has your standard bayonet lug, and hand guard retaining ring, and the barrel is an A1 style barrel but on an M4 style carbine since most people don't really buy the OG 20in AR. SBRs are largely for the high speed low drag CQB crowd and the A1 barrel is heavy and made for longer ranges. C) The gun is largely seen at an angle, which can mess with one's perception. Pause at 3:31, and run your mouse in a straight line up the front of the mag. This is basically in line with where the breech starts. The ATF measures from the breech to the end of the barrel, whether that be a threaded end, or a pinned, and welded muzzle device (the latter is for people who want as close to an M4 or XM177 as possible without the SBR stamp.) Again, that is a 16in barrel. D) This guy has a Facebook page where he posts his 3D printing projects. Not the sort to go out and waste time and money dealing with the ATF when he's out to make KZfaq, and Facebook content showing off his 3D printing skills.

@@airplanenut89 given that the trigger mechanism was still one pull one shot, just because it has a short trigger pull and no weight to it so he can fire it really fast and adjust the electronic actuator controller to control rate of fire, the ATF doesn't have anyway to reinterpret (ignore legal definition) the guidelines for what is and isn't a machine gun, unless they claim electronic triggers can be coded to fire the weapon with a single pull of the trigger, they'd have to stamp, regulate, and control the buying and selling of the electric components he used (which are all over the counter and readily available so therefore not eligible to be regulated) which would be tantamount to regulating computer, and there's no way the people would give up game consoles, laptops, desktops, tablets, and smart phones because a government agency claimed they're all machine guns
@airplanenut89
@airplanenut89 Жыл бұрын
@@carlsteffens "The ATF declares that the use of electronic motors, and MOSFET switches to augment a firearm's rate of fire in order to mimic automatic fire hereby constitutes a machine gun. Using these parts in a specific combination on or in place of a firearms trigger mechanism is deemed illegal, and will result in jail time" Not my best attempt at legalese but that's basically all the ATF would have to do. They wouldn't ban the parts outright. They would rule that combining the pars in a certain fashion for a specific purpose would be illegal. For example: Diesel fuel, certain fertilizers, and electronics are all legal, and readily available. The ATF can't outright ban these items however, should one combine them in a specific fashion without proper licensing from the ATF, they would be breaking ATF regulations. Rulings like these are also generally used to automatically tack on a hefty prison sentence should one be caught ignoring them.
