This is out take footage from "Through The Eyes Of The Sculptor" a Gina Minervini film for PBS. Edited this from lots of footage not seen in film. Watch the precision, detail and time it takes just to create a bronze pour for a small new sculpture. Everything needs to be perfect and documented before the pour occurs.
As director I learned alot about his art form. Who knew the furnace can get up to 2000 degrees. Voices heard in background are myself, and others that are part of the film -
Emmanuel Fillion - Master Sculptor/Host, Lynne Streeter, American sculptor and director of Marble & Art Workshops. Cameramen: Robert Kronovet and Massimo Zeri. Owner of Mariani foundry: You hear his voice explaining the process and what we are seeing. When pour is done they recycle the bronze that remains in the crucible.
Note we had to stay back to shoot because it was very hot and we could not risk damaging the camera. When they appeared in their "armour" to pour that was a surprise for me. Let us know your thoughts...
