Shore power is not always needed, but when it is available, it's a huge convenience that you really appreciate! You need to be sure your install is proper and safe. This video provides the initial tips to that end. Stay tuned (and subscribe) for the rest of the details.

George I put the magnets in a ziplock bag first. When your done take the magnet out of the bag (over a trash can) and all the metal filings drop off and your magnet is clean to start again.

I like it. That's essentially how my magnetic sweeper works. The magnet is inside an aluminum case, and when you pull a lever, it pulls the magnet away from the housing so all the shavings fall off.

More great info for the DIY crowd that learn so much from you. I remember when you made that shelf for your pleasure way. That was in the old days when you were doing lots of mods to it. Now look how far you’ve come👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼 l love watching every build. Boy with the current price of fuel your mini me’s are likely going to be in high demand. Have a lovely week George and crew. What a treat this week a double feature 🚐♥️

It's been a wonderful experience! All of it! Yes, I ran a Promaster City for a few years as my personal daily driver just to make sure it was a viable option for the Mini-Me project. I put 50,000 miles on that little mule and averaged 32 MPG under load!

Good morning! Only half way through….lol. I’m sure you’re aware of 3d printing. Might be something to look into. You know, in your spare time. That could solve things like putting the backer plate on that curved away. Ladi and Margaret do some cool things. Nice to have you back!

I was going to make a similar comment. I’m thinking for a small scale outfit, it might not be worth the time or effort. Time + effort = money = lost profit. But it would be nice to put things exactly where you want by making a spacer perfectly contoured to the sheet metal.

My thoughts exactly. If the location was absolutely imperative to the success or failure of the project, then yes, print it.

Have you considered 3d printing a backer that could have a matching curvature of the sheet metal panel? Love the end! Some of the best ideas come in your sleep. The trick is to remember them, lol.
@HumbleRoad
@HumbleRoad 2 жыл бұрын
I did consider a 3D printer spacer. Ron is a maestro with his 3D printer. In this particular case, the integrity of the shore power plug was more important than the space it occupied inside the van.

I have a strange idea of using a small lithium battery on the back door in the inside of the van to power phone and to recharge tablets. As a recharging station for kids when the van is locked and it is on its own battery bank and not on the house battery bank, and mistakenly they can not run the house battery down. I do not know if anyone has done anything like this is having a designated battery bank for kids to use. Where the recharging station can be used both inside and outside of the van. Regards Hope

George, that big cavity is only in the XL van, the 148 wheel base has your perfect box on the flat spot 😀. I like your hydraulic hole punch but shouldn’t you have rust proofed you cut out hole? (I am sure you did in your dream…) I also prewired plug first, probably since I learned from the same teacher you did 🤔 Hmmm putting that shore power plug through the body panel seems to be commitment to me….

If you want the Transit van to be more stealth you can use the OEM square grommets holes under the van to install the shore power plug. It is definitely not the most convenient location for use, but if the van is more intended for boon-docking not a big deal. The wire goes up into the frame of the van and comes out in the raceway at the very back sides of the van.

So far, none of my clients were interested in stealth. Ease of use and maintenance are key objectives.
