You should pour another coat of resin over the pop corn to make sure it is completely coated and then when it's set use your smallest coaster mold and put a small amount of resin in it then set the bowl on it before it dry and then you will have a flat base! Just a thought, Julie your imagination has no bounds 🙂

I would suggest making a jelly bean bowl next! I like the popcorn bowl ! It’s really cool..... the jelly beans would make a very colorful bowl! What do you think?

Hi Julie, would the popcorn be less likely to rot, or be impacted by insects if you did a second coat of clear resin on the outside? It wouldn't have to be thick, so you didn't lose the "bubbleness" but it might help provide an extra seal on the popcorn, in case any of it was missed when you coated the popcorn initially. I am also thinking an extra resin coat might prevent mice taking a fancy to it, lol. Loved the idea though :)

Almost 40 years ago My Sister gave me a Jar filled with un-popped Popcorn 🍿 It had Popped Popcorn on the jar lid that was resined. She bought it at a Craft Fair. It was the cutest thing! 💗

This is super cool! I would have also done a coat whilst it was on the bowl and cut the excess off before it was fully set, just to make sure it was fully coated, That idea you had about putting a puddle on the plastic was good for a bottom!! I’d use a single coaster mould then the resin wouldn’t spread!

This is a cute idea. I probably would have gone with the square shape though. I think the square would have been a nice change. Those different shaped licorice candies might make a cute bowl. Very cute! Colorful cereal in a matrix of semi- opaque white "milk" would also be cute! Or if you did the popcorn in "caramel" and added peanuts, you have cracker jacks. Or you could do ice cream sprinkles and candy. Lots of possibilities!

as far as I am aware, food safe means you can put say a banana or orange in the bowl, as you don't eat the skin of those, you shouldn't put apples in if you are eating the skin, cakes etc that are in their own wrapping ( cupcakes etc) are ok, otherwise you need to use a doily or napkin between the food and the resin. So in the case of this type of bowl, just line it with a napkin, just to be safe.

This is the best way to do it. It’s a great idea and love how it turned out. I watched someone make cereal and milk coasters. Fruit Loops in the clear resin let that set for a while then poured white resin over the top. You could do Coco Pops and Nutri Grain.

You could use one of your coasters to put in ressin and so you have a finished bowl that is stable. I think that would be better then put some ressin on a plastic and put the bowl on it... just thinking out loud...

Can't wait to see the end product. What about gummy bears or worms. How about different kinds of dried beans and split peas, I've actually seen one in a housewares store with the beans and peas. It was made with pinto beans, red beans, white beans, kidney beans, and split peas. If you would have encased the popcorn in resin then you could wash the bowl.

I had the idea that you could make a small clear coaster and resin it to the bottom so it will sit flat and not wobble.

I wonder if a person could cut a wedge out and pour a small amount of resin to join the pieces together to help form the bowl?

Should get a bigger bowl to place on top of the popcorn to mound the popcorn into a bowl shape. Smaller bowl on the inside, bigger bowl on the outside.
