They are locksmiths, not unlocksmiths, or lockpicksmiths ;) - seriously though, picking the lock, and letting you replace it, makes them less money than drilling it out and selling you a new (garbage) lock with an markup; picking it also requires skill, you can teach everyone to drill a lock and replace it afterwards, which makes for even cheaper labor, and you can send out minimally trained (cheap) people to do the job

The Schlage B560P is certainly a decent lock. Remember that LPL is a very talented picker, and that pick resistance isn't everything for a lock. You must also consider durability, reliability, and forced entry resistance. For that, the Schlage B560P is far superior than any Kwikset product and certainly is more than a 'decent' lock. If pick resistance and decoding is a major concern, you can always swap the cylinder for something higher security; this is why these deadbolts use KIK cylinders.

Imagine a burglar with LPL's knowledge and a small fraction of his tools. "Your honor, I didn't break into that house. I had a key."
@garryaumann2102
@garryaumann2102 8 ай бұрын
The term "Break and Enter" refers to breaking the seal of the door not actually opening in a destructive manner. Just opening a door or any means of entry without permission is a break and enter.

This is hilarious. We just had a new deadbolt installed on a door at work and that got me talking to a coworker about how I started watching lockpicking videos. I saw "SCHLAGE" on the lock body and got kind of disappointed because I'm much more familiar with Kwikset locks. I come back home and the first video on my feed is about a very similar looking lock to what was installed.

Looks easier said than done, that deadbolt can be six pins as well. And LPL didn't seem to encounter any spools in this example

I always thought LPL had been pronouncing Schlage incorrectly ("slayge" instead of the German "schlah-geh"). I just watched the companies's official pronunciation video and even they say it, "slayge". My life is a lie...

I bought a handful of tools from your website to get me started, including a Lishi 2 in 1 SC1 tool. I had never touched lock picking instruments before in my life. I put the Lishi tool into a lock and within 2 minutes it was opened. The tension seems to be one of the harder skills to get a feel for but I opened 2 more right away, each taking no longer than 30 seconds.
