Always ask about holiday. It's part of the package. If you're scared to ask about the benefits/compensation you're not ready for a job. Also, a lot of jobs now are two stage. For example, I've had a two stage interview recently, first a technical interview and second a HR interview. You can tell the difference but obviously pay and holiday were discussed at the HR interview.

Very ridiculous how it's taboo to ask about salary, we need to know if we can afford life on the job we're choosing. I know they tend to tell you the salary once you're offered the job, but in some fields, you may end up going through 4 interviews and a test, I'd much rather know if going through all of that will be worth it before applying.

True but get the salary range from the recruiter or the individual setting up the interview with the hiring manager. The recruiter has the salary details its their job to provide it before you move to the next step.

I've been watching your videos after looking to return to work after a 5 year gap, due to family chronic illness. I've been terribly depressed at the job opportunities local to me and being in my 50s thought it's over. Due to this particular video I believe I gave an excellent presentation, asked the right questions😉👍 and was informed that there's a few roles which I would be seriously considered for and will definitely be contacted and likely be offered something within the next 2 weeks as the new manufacturing lines are set up! On a serious note I think you helped me massively get a great opportunity with future prospects and would like to thank you for making these videos. I won't forget you in sometime, you may have just changed my outlook on life as well as secure my future. Have yourself a drink tonight on me From a fellow ginger bearded subscriber 😁✌️

Great video and I like how you listed more than five but I gotta say the first question is a big no-no. It comes off presumptuous and the boss will be thinking he just wants a raise or another review in that 6 months...

With reference to your first question not to ask, whilst it's not worded very well, surely it's important to get a feeling for how the company feels about the work-life balance?

Id it just me, or is anyone else concerned about ambition being seen as a threat by the hiring manager?? having worked in multiple work places where my supervisor or manager was threatened by my skills/knowledge, I worry about this a lot going into interviews.

What do you mean, "ambition being seen as a threat"?
@Strider9655

@@asmitaghorai7332 Because workplaces are a cut throat environments these days, people constantly trying to throw others under a bus, or make colleagues look bad in order to get ahead. No manager wants to hire their own replacement.

@@Strider9655 Wow, cool insights! Never thought of it all that in way though but yeah I see how fvcked up things technically are.. Well, as dippy as this may sound, do you happen to think by any chance if managing to display [act out] a slight "dumber" version of yourself at the interviews/workplaces might work fairly well [at least better] LOL? Of course, not necessarily overcooking it though. [You didn't have to delete your comment.]

@@asmitaghorai7332 No, because an interview is not a one way thing, I've worked for companies where I had to dumb myself down, or end up with a long line of spurious disciplinary hearings to "put me in my place". I don't want to work for a boss who is that insecure, because ultimately they'll be hell to work for.
