In my experience, I walk by Americans and if you make eye contact with them, you would either give them a small smile or a nod or both or ignore them altogether. Now the weird part is if I initiated a “How are ya?” first, they’d reply “good” and walk off... they’d never asked how I was. It’s okay, I’m fine but if they initiated first, I’d just reply “Hello”. I still get confused with that social norm.

For organization on a computer I find month first to be way more useful. If you name files by day first, then sort, you get the first of each month followed by the second of each month (Example: 1Jan, 1Feb, 1Mar, etc...), if you sort by month first you get everything chronological (Jan-1, Jan-2, Jan-3). For the most part the 'date created' doesn't reflect the date of interest and I find going through the properties for each file to be way more of a hassle than just name it by month.

As an American, tips ARE weird. And, how we do it is frankly offensive. Name another profession where your salary depends almost entirely on the whim of a random person, no matter how well or poorly you do. And varies hour to hour based on things entirely out of your control. Tipping should solely be for extraordinary service. And waiters should be paid like all other restaurant employees. I've been all around the world, and seen how at least 30 other countries do it. The US system of tipping is, as I said before, offensive. It exists solely to benefit the business, not the employee, by pushing off costs to the employee while allowing the business to artificially pretend its products cost less than they do.

No, you need not be overfreindly anywhere else in the world unless you're working for tips. And tips are the weirdest thing in america because anywhere else in the world if you really like the server's work for your table you give em a $5-$10 tip because you actually liked the server's work, but in america if you dont pay tip you are instantly considered a piece of s* and get cussed on by the servers even if they served you poorly. And dont get back at me saying that its because the waiters dont get paid enough so they depend on tips, WHY do they depend on tips? Because the job payers give them really low wage, why do they get low wage? Because you pay them HUGE tips. Its your fault to begin with. Dont pay them tips, they will change the system.
