A 13-year-old who pointed a pellet gun at police officers chasing after him was shot and killed by one of the officers late Friday night, the Utica Police Department said Saturday morning.

I mean, it's not that unusual tbh. When I was a kid, I stayed out pretty late, especially around the summertime. We played with airsoft guns, etc. However, when cops showed up, I didn't run, and I sure as heck didn't pull and point anything at officers. But then again, I never gave cops a reason to visit me to begin with

Great idea my dad taught me gun safety and started teaching me to shoot when I was 5. At 5 I had perfect gun safety and better gun safety than 99% of adults because before he’d let me shoot he drilled it in my head. I’ve never gotten careless and comfortable and slipped up a single time. If I’m holding a gun I’m focused on every safety step. My friends on the other hands always flag me or do stupid shat I tell some them all the time they shouldn’t have guns because they don’t think enough even if I try to tell them it’s always loaded even when it’s empty they still do stupid stuff.

A lot of comments asking where he got the fake gun. Or who bought him the fake gun. That doesn't matter. What matters is why did he point it at the cops thinking nothing would happen? Who told him it was ok to point a gun, or fake gun that looks real at a cop? Cops only have micro second to decide to shoot or not if they see a weapon. They can't and should not be expected to wait to be possibly shot to determine if a gun is real or not.

A pellet gun is more lethal than an airsoft gun... same general rules apply - don't point it at anything you aren't ok with shooting. With the facts as stated, I see no fault with the outcome, merely with the kid's decision to threaten police with what looked like a proper deadly weapon. (whether or not anything was said - pointing it at people was still a threat).

Information, for people who don't know. They make exact replicas of Glock handguns, for airsoft. They even have the removable magazine. They have the feel of a real Glock. They do have an orange tip, but kids are known to remove them, so they look real. I have considered buying one for myself, to practice, but they don't make my model. A lot of people who conceal carry, do so, so they don't have to be drawing their real gun, to practice.

There no proof nor it obvious he had a pellet gun and/ or pointed at them, except of testimonies of executers. That’s their words and doesn’t mean he actually pointed anything at them. He was executed in cold blood

The video says it all, he had a gun, pointed it at police, fought with police and got shot. Charge the parents. The police acted correctly.
