This week we take a look at the Lord of the Nazgûl and his very long history.
This guy is like 4000 years old, and we only see him for a short time in Lord of the Rings. Criminal. Let's look at why he was the chief of Sauron's servants.

Tolkien uses one of his of his obscurest words about the Witch King. 'Dwimmerlaik!'

I do rather like your discussion of the dangers of sorcery in Tolkien's world. You are accurate in relating that sorcery, necromancy and the like are seen as very dangerous things in Catholicism, and that Tolkien's faith informed his writings in this way. That being said, Tolkien also reflects the other side of the idea of "magic" in Catholicism. Wondrous things that are good are often like the "magic of the common every day sort" we find in hobbits, for example. I didn't realize this as a young guy, but came to learn eventually that in Catholicism, the wondrous is seen in that every day magic inherent in God's creation and God's plan. So, when looking at Tolkien's writing, the special, wondrous things are also often very down to earth: mercy, for example, courage, sacrifice, and generosity weigh in much more significantly than blades from Gondolin (though those are pretty cool, too). The idea is that we protagonists of our own stories, just like the peoples of Middle Earth, are quite remarkable in and of ourselves, especially when we choose to walk with Iluvatar. Also, in regards to musicals and horror, a few years back a high school in New Jersey, USA, turned Alien into a musical. I heard it was great. Maybe we'll see it again

We will tear you a new one if you let anymore Balrog jokes out. Or Fell Beasts jokes, either. Especially if they aren't actually Balrogs or Fell Beasts.
