Күн бұрынHey guys, I wanted to showcase some Datapacks released over the past month, for Minecraft 1.18.2. A lot of these packs add new structures to the game, and there's some cool ones too! Since putting this video together, a few have been updated too.

Overhauled villages along with terralith makes for one of the most incredible vanilla enhance data pack

@@iunnoo world generation is a tricky thing and a lot of mods / data packs often don't work nicely together terralith changes a lot of generation for instance and overhauled villages may expect other generation :) but i'll be trying it next week so we'll see :D

Towns and towers is explicitly compatible with terralith too, would def recommend trying it out

Really wish we had more structures generated on the surface and underground. • Dungeons ( not mob spawners but an actual dungeon small or medium can generate, look at simple dungeons for example ) • Ruins both surface and underground

It's crazy too see just how much can be done with data packs. The sheer amount of content produced by the community for free that outpaces Mojang themselves is very pleasantly surprising. That's not to say Mojang doesn't do any hard work, but when comparing people who's jobs are to add content to Minecraft, and just people doing it as a hobby, the differences in results are quite interesting, and that's just limiting it to features that would fit well into the normal game.

By far the most impressive one here is the Realistic Cars. I’m learning how to read and code Java, and I can’t even begin to think of how this could be done as a mod! Let alone a Datapack!! Seriously. I sincerely want to know how this was made.

Blockbench is a 3D modeling software that let’s you export models in both Java for modding and in json for data packs

@@izofar Well yeah, Blockbench can easily explain how the car’s model was created. But if I’m not mistaken (and I could be because i only started learning Java’s language 2 weeks ago) opening the door, shifting gears, and turning on headlights, would’ve required the introduction of new code into Minecraft. But since this is a datapack, that can only mean no new code was introduced to the game. It’d have to be strictly Minecraft/ command block code. I can imagine the car’s code for mobility and collision awareness MIGHT be derived from a vanilla hoarse’s. But the door animations, lights, gear shifting has me stumped.

@@izofar Unless, or coarse, these features can be applied via Blockbench, and I just didn’t know that.

@@wisefool722 There is an .mcfunction file format for command block execution, where you can do animations etc. I'd suggest downloading the data pack and poking through the directories and looking through various files. No decompiling needed, and a great learning experience!

Nope! By how 1.18.2 structure datapack works, it will be compatible unless he deliberately make it not to.

It's a good thing the need of mods gets reduced due to Data pack becoming more and more mod... Ish This is so much better for servers, where you don't need to run Fabric or Forge, but Paper, which increases performance a lot

Except paper breaks a lot of of functional datapacks, and fabric has a lot of performance increasing mods on top of not breaking anything. I don’t really see the point in going with paper if it breaks so much

there is a datapack folder in the wold file of the server, you add the .zip file of the datapack which you download into the datapack folder of the server.

Is anyone aware of a datapack that keeps ocean monuments from spawning? I have a terrible guardian phobia, and my old one that would turn them into ruins stopped working after 1.18.

9:20 i really like this one but i think its a little unfair that you can just get 1 diamond instead of 3 to make a diamond axe i think you should at least use 2 to make an iron axe a diamond one

Usually you can. Some Datapacks require a resource pack to work (such as catapults)

No, mods are different to datapacks. Datapacks are supported in-game, however mods need a mod loader. Datapacks are made in a very different way to mods and are more limited in what they can do
