I've watched 50 of these videos and yours was by far the best. I don't even know what all those specs and benchmarks mean. Yours was real and to the point. I got the m2 15inch 16g with 1tb ssd because it was $400 off and the 15inch screen was made it beat out the pro.

The M2 15 inch air I have it for over 5+ months now close to a year and it’s an absolute beast! I only maxed out the RAM to 24gb ram with 256gb SSD cause i don’t really see a difference with the speeds and I always don’t mind the waiting on the downloads anyway since I’m doing something else to keep me busy. Overall, I’m very satisfied with it! Use multiple tabs, have photoshop open while watching a stream or KZfaq, pretty much have multiple applications open and the 24gb ram REALLY helps to not wear out the SSD swap or MacBook itself, absolute powerful machine!

Great video, Craig. My daily work routine includes using DaVinci Resolve, VS Code, Affinity Photo, MS Office Suite, and having loads of tabs open on two different browsers. I also have a M2 Air with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, and it works flawlessly. The screen size and portability this machine offers are unbeatable. The only thing I would change is adding a bit more RAM. From the Pro, I could use the higher resolution screen, but I don’t really need the extra processing power, ports, or fan.

Great video which helped me make my final decision to get this same model of MacBook Air instead of a 14 inch MacBook Pro. Thinness was also a major factor for me as well as the performance.

Craig, I love how down to earth, and clear, your video is. Can you please advise whether this model that you’re talking about would be sufficient for a PhD History student who works with PDFs all day long, opens multiple tabs on Safari, runs various apps and keeps PDFs etc open simultaneously across 5 to 6 desktops? Should anyone watching the budget be better with 512GB SSD and just work with Cloud or external hard drives instead of forking out an extra $600 (in NZ) for 1TB?

I have one, except I got the 8GB one and kind of regret that decision. It works fine if I don’t have too much stuff open as I’m prone to do. I recommend getting the 16 GB version for most people. If I was to buy it again I would get the 24GB version because I want to run a VM and need some extra ram for that. Ram selection aside, it’s a pretty nice laptop.

Nice video! I just bought a 15 inch M2 with 16gb of ram and 1TB SSD in Space Gray. For $1399 from Best Buy and they gave me $575 on my old 8GB M1 MacBook Air. I was going to go for the M3 but for me I don’t think the performance difference would be that great. I mainly do image editing and with some AI tools I was running up against the RAM limitations. The larger screen will be a big plus as well.

Real nice review. I’ve got those older eyes as well. Just bought an Apple refurbished 15” Air with 16gb/1/TB for $1,499. It took me many videos of the 15” vs 14” Pro but your very rational video put my mind at ease. Many great points. I too beat Apple for once!

Best Buy has the Macbook Air 15 16GB 1TB for $1499 In all colors except silver. It's definitley worth the extra $100 for double the storage and colors other than Midnight in this cofiguration.

Thanks for the video. Yeah I agree the 16/512 GB version of the 15-inch MBA is an excellent value proposition. I do have one question for you though: How do you feel about and what are your thoughts on someone using a combination of a Mac Mini and iPad Air/Pro + Magic Keyboard together as opposed to one just using a MacBook? I am a college student and am trying to figure out if that would be a better long-term and versatile value proposition than just a standalone MacBook and am tempted by the Mac Mini + iPad idea. I really like the iPad's versatility of being both a tablet and laptop while still having access to the Mac to run full programs and the ability to use universal control and sidecar when I am at home. You can get a new 13.6 inch m2 16gb 512gb for under $1400 if you look around to anyone who needs to save a little more $ or just want a more compact machine. I got mine for $1369 last August and I can see one right now going for $1349

A 14 pro is better in power, speakers, screen res and ports, the air 15 is better in screen size, lighter, better typing experience, better battery life. And because 95% of the time you won't feel you're underutilizing all that power, and 300 or more cheaper.

Thank you. I’m just a light user. No editing or anything like that- really just basic browsing, lots of movies and a few other things. BUT it is really important to me- I don’t leave home much. I also live in a hot environment and get concerned about no fan . I currently have a 2015 15” MacBook Pro. ( it is my 3 or 4th Mac and had no need to get anything else). I love but it will no longer receive security updates in the near future. Absolutely love the size of the screen and the mac environment in general I also have always considered or just thought of the MacBook pros as more… I don’t know, robust than airs? Or longer lasting which I do need. Is that silly too ?

I bought the same 15" for the same price. But 10 days later I had to exchange it. While working on a light task on Xcode, the app had Stopped Responding twice. I did a factory reset and the issue persist. My original plan was to get it exchange for another 15" but the 14" M3 Pro was on sale for $1749. I went with the 14". the same files and same Xcode light task, the app has not crashed yet. I will admit, I really do miss the bigger 15" screen but the battery life on the 14" is a lot better. there's a good chance I might go back to Best Buy again for a third transaction by saying I want the 15" 16/512 instead. I have a feeling my first 15" just had a defective M2 chip. I rather save the $350 difference to use towards Apple Care + on the 15". 15" M2 16/512 = On sale $1399 14" M3 Pro 18/512 = On sale $1749

I did the same, I went to the Apple store and put the M1 air next to the M2 air both 13" and didn't notice THAT much of a difference, so I just went with the M1 Air. 16GB is DEFINITELY a must. I know people will say 8gb is fine..and maybe it is..but I can't do it anymore. I had 8gb ram before and I know, 16gb is minimum for me. I love capcut. It's also mobile on iphones and can be used on desktop. This is why I switched from FCP to Capcut. So straight forward and easy. Plus I don't want to spend extra money to buy the full version of FCP on my iPad.

Please can you help a beginner here. I am yoga teacher. I use one setup (frame), one video, 40 min or so, fade in, fade out, little colout grading (brightness mostly) and ad some music in a background an background noise reduction. I normally have 1080p videos but considering going to 2k or maybe 4k in a future. How long does the export on this video lasts? This is important because I have yoga centar in Croatia and on top of my 20+ videos a month of editing, I have 30 more from my yoga teachers. So I need to have quick export. My edit lasts for about 10 min TOPS because I don't have much to do and it's all simple and automatic, but I have a lot of videos to process. Thank you very much for your help. 15" Air is probably the ultimate laptop for most Mac users. As for the fingerprints issue, I would use an external keyboard/mouse (I use wired full size Apple keyboard/mouse with a much older MacBook Pro at home) . But the screen size its light weight is what makes this model so appealing.
