Number fifteen in our series of watercolor Christmas card tutorials for 2023 is a quick and easy landscape, which is very beginner friendly if you follow my step by step realtime instructions! I start and stop your videos to catch up with you. Then hit the back button to catch what I missed. Then after, I watch the whole video again and am blown away by how quickly you can paint a lovely piece. When I grow up I want to be you! (I’m 68) Ha!

I'm so excited, I just downloaded 14 of your designs, living here in the USA wasn't sure just how it worked, but I was SUCCESSFUL!!! I have also purchased the Bright Light board with which to transfer them. I am amazed at just how clearly my transfers show through the 140 pound paper!!! Hi Jean, so glad that you are excited to find these things out! The, Meeden hot pressed paper is very good for all our paintings, as it is not the same as some types of hot pressed papers, being somewhat more receptive to watercolour than many of the glossy types, which I can’t really recommend. So glad that you are enjoying it, and to be honest it does make painting easier!

Love the idea of hanging the baubles on the tree - they could definitely replace the glass ones we no longer have because our cat "played" them to death last year! Also like the technique of scratching in the fence wire.....will have to be careful cat doesn't watch this video.

I've noticed recently that you are putting out 15 minutes short videos. This may be very well for your own good, and if so, carry on lovely lady! Hi Sherelyn, thanks so much for your lovely message, and I’m so glad that you enjoy the videos! we are not stopping from doing longer videos, far from it, and in fact, we are planning to release a series of very long videos and have already released three of them, which are three or four hours long. Yes, I said three or four hours. So you can sit and listen to me, non-stop for four hours, with or without music. The recent shorter videos are just for the Christmas card season. There are going to be 20 of them for the month of November. After that we will be going back to the normal length of 30 to 40 minutes, as I say plus the very long compilation ones, hope this clarifies things for you and other people! Sending you best wishes and Holiday happiness!

Wonderful! Yes, I’ll be featuring them all going forward. The cat’s tongue is great for « cutting in » when you paint a background after the main subject, and for doing leaves and petals on flowers.

Dr Martins is reliably opaque I find. If you use Winsor & Newton white gouache I think it’s pretty similar but some brands might not be as good. So to be on the safe side I recommend Dr Martins.

That is my Kuretake 48 set of paints which I have reorganised into the lid (strong plastic) of a Meeden studio palette (this one: tinyurl.com/meeden-large-palette) but any plastic tray would probably work. I hold them down in position with a little bit of blu tack on each one.
