Here’s my 15 minute video on how to install and lay the pipes for a central heat system , hot and cold water taps system . How to solder copper pipes: • Soldering copper pipe

Another option is the get the gas safe done which is essentially nvq level 3, however saying that, it is quite tricky.

Good video mate. Out of interest did you lag your pipes or as it was above insulation and assume you were floor boarding you didn’t need to?

Do you have an updated list of all the parts needed to install a boiler, combi, and six radiators, e.g., horizontal flue and plume kit and so on, etc.

Old video, but well done you. One thing I gleaned from YT is that not all Rads are fed to the left, some are fed through the TTRS Valve on the right (Arrow markings I believe) so make note if someone else is having a go. Also I would want to pressure test my joints before flooring. Not sure what you'd use in this case? Maybe some sort of air pressure gauge. Would be a nightmare to rip up all the floor if indeed a joint had failed.

Really good video but you really should have a double check valve after the stop tap to prevent black flow and prevent contaminating the water mains

Nice job mate. But I wouldn't use compression fittings on new installation especially in cavity walls. Also I would use pipe bender to avoid using so many elbows.

I’m trying to learn, but I thought cold water feed had to go to kitchen tap first then everywhere else with a no return valve, but here it goes to the toilet first? Can the water not come backwards and contaminate drinking water?

Hi Marcus, no worries. No the contaminated water goes out through the sewer and clean water goes into the cistern above the toilet. So it’s allllllll good :)

Matt Hutton - thanks for the reply mate. So in the plumbing world there’s no way the water can come backwards down the pipe and contaminate anything? Wait, isn’t inside the cistern where the water feed overhangs the main body of water and never comes in direct contact with it?

Marcus, I don’t know I’m not a plumber. But, you can drink the water from the cistern as long as you don’t poop in it lol

Marcus just seen the second half of your comment, I’m sorry. Yes the water feed hangs over the main body of water in the cistern and drip fills it.

Great stuff mate. There's an issue with installing a boiler yourself though as building regs need to be notified about the installation. If you do it yourself you'll end up pleading with gas safe plumbers to come and sign off your installation. Which of cause they won't do as it'd be like putting you on their insurance :)

Quite a few draw offs as in cold water and hot ect. Prob be better with a pressurised cylinder. Also really should of done as many pulled bends in as many places as poss. And the fittings not cleaned at all. Just try to use less fittings. But not to bad.

Any chance of doing a boiler installation from start to finish?

David Henderson I wanted a gas safety certificate for the boiler install so I got a gas safe engineer to do it. If your are building somewhere you want to rent or live in, it might be better to get a gas safe registered engineer to install the boiler because they will take on the liability for the installation and if something goes wrong they are insured. Also your council won’t sign off the building as completed if you don’t have that certificate.

So you connected a mains pipe to the boiler with a hot and a flow and return?

David Henderson yes I don’t usually film the stuff I didn’t figure out myself. Our combo boiler has a gas in connection, hot flow and cold return connections and a cold mains water in connection. Yes you definitely overheated them but fair play. As soon as you see that soldier run take off the heat. 👍 If the pipe is black it's overheated.

Heating circuit pipe work requires insulating as it will lose heat to the subfloor ... just saying
