I agree. I think it sucks that women don’t help other women out. Some women didn’t get the chance to have a close relationship with their female figure . I like to joke a lot with my mommy but at the end of the day I consider it would be any other woman as well ; she didn’t get to have her mom in her life as much so it makes me sad.

Bordeaux, to me, is the color of vampires. I love it and I think it looks amazing on people with dark contrast and deep colour palettes but it certainly brings this "vampire" look. You put into words the feeling I've always had about low sleeves t-shirts, even though they're so comfortable hahah

I think the secret is that *wearing your wrong colours makes you look ill/tired/washed out.* I recommend EVERYONE, but especially those of us interested in body types, personal style, etc, to get a professional 12 Seasons draping, or at the very least try to identify your 4 Seasons type. Being draped as a Bright Winter quite literally changed my life and transformed my style, I would have never reached my full potential without having an expert show me how beautiful I look in the most extreme and saturated colours, the kind that overwhelm most people! It's astounding how bad even the most beautiful people will look in colours that don't harmonize with their natural palette.

@alexandragatto
@alexandragatto 2 жыл бұрын
@@katitadeb I completely disagree. Merriam uses different names but she still divides people into Cool/Warm and Muted/Vibrant - it's just the old 4 Seasons system from the 80s. 12 Seasons goes so much further and is completely objective (not subjective) as well. It is based solely on how your skin (and to a lesser extent hair and eyes) react to proximity with different wavelengths of light, aka colours. I know that some people are left in doubt after their draping if they did not have a competent analyst but if you are draped by a true pro you will NEVER need another colour system and you will never be typed in any other season by any other pro either. You have one true season and it is completely obvious when you are draped in your own colours, you can SEE before your eyes the positive effects they have and also the negative or neutral effects of other seasons. 12 Seasons has nothing in common with fruit body typing, it is literally the science of which colours make up your personal (skin, eye, hair) palette and which other colours complement those.
@alexandragatto
@alexandragatto 2 жыл бұрын
@@Astr0629 I was lucky enough to be draped by Christine Scaman of 12 Blueprints. If you cannot visit her in Atlantic Canada her website lists analysts who have trained under her that are located around the world! I highly recommend her website blog and YT channel as resources regardless, she's brilliant. Any analyst trained in Sci/Art 12 Seasons is probably a good choice as long as they have good reviews! A tip, draping is generally very expensive (but worth it at any price!) but my mother and I were able to be draped for free because we volunteered to be models for a training class!! Being in the room while the student learned was super interesting as well, there's almost no downside.

This is an excellent. The only thing I don't completely agree is with bordeau outfits and velvet clothes in deep color. I think for SOME women with high contrast coloring (such as deep autumns and deep winters) it can look amazing for a bolder look when they really want to make a statement. It's still a strong look but for these specific women it can make them look incredible on certain occasions. For everyone else it's definitely a no though, specially for women with low contrast or very light coloring

Your example at 18:00 is quite interesting, because Zooey Deschanel (bottom left) is actually a natural blonde but never felt like herself in the color, and with your description you can really see why! So interesting to see how sometimes people's natural coloring is not necessarily the most flattering🤔I feel like that's usually the exception though, but maybe I'm wrong about that

plus trends usually wear off pretty quickly. I learned way to late that you should dress for the body that you have and not for the body that you want (=find out what suits YOU and don't follow trends because they usually don't even work for you and they always end and you'd have to run after the next one). same goes for your hair. if you got fine straight hair I'm sorry but L'oreal just will not give you a lion's mane.

Hi! I’m theatrical romantic and deep winter. My skin is fair too and my natural hair color is dark brown. I went with a “soft black” shade because I don’t want to wear heavy makeup to make unnatural blue black work. (Also dye your eyebrows to match and you’ll only need mascara to look your best!)

TR and winter are the best lol! After a $300 disaster, I did my hair myself, but I don’t know too much about hair coloring. Definitely do your research since you're covering up ginger/warm undertones. The black I used (garnier olia 2.0 soft black) had a green tint which nicely neutralized the red/orange highlights. Going from the least flattering color (warm&light), to the best hair color for TR/DW (cool&dark) brought back my confidence instantly. I wish you good luck!!!

Thank you Aly. Now I understand why these very light, matte and shimmery eyshadows never works for me! I stopped using all eyeshadow because I don't like what happens (my eyes look dry, tired and very aged and my upper eyelid skin suddenly looks very old and wrinkly(by at least +15 yrs! 😭) when I apply any eye shadow after I reached the age of 43, even when putting a wing to try to create lift. Wearing almost no make-up now, because makeup makes me look old and tired, accentuating every single sign of ageing, ageing me by at least +15yrs when I apply makeup. My natural moisturiser skin condition is very good, so now I look better With only soft eyeliner with a lifting wing and properly heavier applied mascara in lifting awake technique like you explained in another video. Why is foundation and eyeshadow so accentuating ageing? Please point to your video about very awake fresh looking daytime minimalist make up for older women (age 45-55) with very light cool skin tone and blonde hair. Thank you for all the years of awesome advice!

I disagree about the velvet fabric and the burgundy color.. it depends on the style of the dress or the outfit, i mean velvet has been in style since ages for a reason, it gives that classic timeless look and has nothing to do with tiredness. It actually makes anyone who wears it look more preppy and elegant. The burgundy color as well, depends on the skin tone, some colors complement skin tones more than others so it’s really not a general rule to avoid it

Same for me. Like her examples for the eyeshadow placement on the lower outer V. Most of the ladies have droopy downturned eyes to begin with. And Debbie Harry certainly does not fit Aly's description at all! The look with the drapping of her purple blush makes her look fresh imo. It's iconic. So Idk where this comes from. For me personally grungy greens, muddy beiges and warm yellows make me look unwell. But there are so many people that look extra suave and chic in them. It just doesn't make sense to give out universal rules on colors that will fit everybody. It doesn't work that way.

Your advice years ago about making your eyes bigger with makeup changed the way I look at makeup. You are an artist with good eye and great understanding of visuals. Thank you so much for your continued tips! Love from Finland xxx

I finally understand why I never look good in liquid foundation, it's because of the puffiness! Thank you, Aly, for making that clear to me!

For my coloring I actually look more alive in any kind of blue red tone but I look washed out and sickly tired if I wear eggplant. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone doesn't have a slightly different color that does it to them based on your undertones and contrasts and stuff.

1:29 the girl on the bottom left is a makeup artist. She's actually very good. That pic came from a video she made making fun of the makeup trends in the 90s. 😆

But I do understand where she’s coming from, rounder faces (not tight as she described) like mine already make me seem younger than I am, hence the dewy complexion would make me look like a sweaty kid 😂😭

Can you please make a video for olive skin tone. Sometimes my olive skin can look lively but sometimes I can easily look tired.

You are really a very gifted person!

I have one of those fleshy Slavonic faces and I always mattify it to high heavens, bc the fashionable "dewy" finish makes me look like a wedding guest after four hours of partying. Now I know exactly why. Thanks Aliona, you're a lifesaver!

I never understood why people used pale blue shadow.It is not a shadow, it makes everything stand out.A lot of blue eyed blondes used frosted white or blue when I was a teen back back in the day.

Just like I learned (a VERY long time ago) to choose hairstylists whose hair I like, I'm learning to trust make-up and style advice only from those whose own style I'm comfortable with. Aly's personal style is great, both lovely and classy; and her advice is ALWAYS good, and always makes sense to me. Thank you so much, Alyona! 😍❤
