Of all the facts about Mauritius, these are the ones you chose? That Nissan is the top seller? Damn. I'm disappointed. Here are some examples of what you missed: - Port-Louis and Curepipe were switched on to electricity long before London. - The battle of Grand-Port was the only French naval victory over the British during the Napoleonic wars and is the only naval battle commemorated on the Arc de Triomphe. - The existence of hormones in the human body was first postulated by the Mauritian Charles Edouard Brown Sequard who even has a neurological condition named after him. - Although small in size, Mauritius has an exclusive economic zone larger than those of countries like China, Italy, Spain and Germany. It would be even larger if not for the treacherous misappropriation of the Chagos Archipelago by the British.

Also during the american war of independence, Mauritius (then ile de france) made and sent around 300 ships to enforce the naval blockade of the french navy on the us.

Ile de France (now Mauritius) was a FRENCH colony at that time, so, obviously the REPUBLIC OF FRANCE is responsible, not Mauritius.

We had the first mobile telephone operator in the Southern Hemisphere, we also have the Mauritius Turf Club which is the oldest horse-racing club in the Southern Hemisphere and the second oldest in the world. Mauritius has progressed from a “three pillar economy”- sugar, tourism, and textiles- into a modern strong economy revolving around agriculture, manufacturing, financial services, ICT, real estate, and hospitality. Most of us are connected to the Internet via optical fiber, we have free education, hospitals etc... we are a very peaceful nation, we don't have a military!

Just arrived in Mauritius today, and i have to say it is a very beautiful island, however when searching for hotels prior to booking we found the hotel called 'The One And Only' to be the most expensive when comparing similar rooms, and thanks to my wife this is where we are staying, its a tropical heaven though and no regrets!

liizzset actually yes the tourists are nice. From my own experience, even though they don’t know you they do smile at you when you are passing by. Yes you will have a great time here and there are so much places to visit. Being a multi cultured country, you will experience different festivals throughout the year. Well to be honest the beaches are real pretty along with the sun. Mauritius has also a beautiful history and guess what there’s a museum where weapons , barracks which were built during the war, canons and other stuffs are kept. It’s actually easy to get a place in a hotel since there are now so many hotels here.

liizzset mauritius is effectively a tourist friendly island.I am 100% sure that you will enjoy your time in our beautiful beaches and mountains.The best thing i think to be the best is the 'cazela'its an amazing place to visit. (The best beach is at 'le morne brabant')

I love that the 5 am club takes place here makes me wanna go there even more now. To be honest when I read that book it was the first had ever even heard of the place and I embarrassingly admit I thought it might just be a fictional place me up for the book. In the books it's described as such a paradise you almost don't believe its real. But I'm very happy it is! Thats so awesome , I wonder if foreigners can buy property there.🤔

@@saladhub2928 Well Seychelles have 3 main islands (Praslin, Mahe, La Digue) - all stunning. Mahe is the biggest and offers many amazing beaches, smallest capital city of Victoria, beautiful botanical garden and amazing viewpoints. Praslin offers many beautiful beaches and national park with waterfall. La Digue can only be done by foot or cycle through the island and has the world renowned beach Anse Source d'Argent there. Now Mauritiius has different cultures and religions there compared to Seychelles IMO (mainly Hindu but a good Christian and Muslim community too) The country has lots of beaches, quite a few different national parks, waterfalls, huge botanical garden, the capital Port Louis, beautiful small islands off the main island for day trippers. walking with lions in Casela National Park, The Grand Bassin close to the large statue, mountains...and it is less expensive than Seychelles

10:08 is te best hotel in Mauritius.. it is called : Le Paradis. I’m from Réunion ( the island next to it ) Since I’m 10 month old I’m going there quite often .. and I love it 😍 I’m not 16 and I’m still going there Nice place to visit... I especially recommend to visit the Island if u are European

It's true the Royal palm Hotel is out of this world. Very luxurious and fit for a king. I went there in 1988. Really the best. Loved it so much.

Mauritius is amazing and I strongly recommend going. One note though, the seven color earth doesn't nearly look that amazing. Photoshop to the max!
