I've known since I started playing the game when I was 10 and I'm 29 years old this year and I'm not surprised all 10 elite prism tanks are enough to kill 7 Brutal Ai easily

I’m genuinely surprised on how robust the game engine is. It’s crazy. 2500 units and still can cope.

The thing I've always loved about C&C is that those games didn't have a pop cap. Westwood were mad lads with supreme confidence for doing that back in the day.

I was expecting the Apocalypse tanks to win the first two rounds, bit surprised with Prism's emerging victorious. As for the Elite battle, not surprised at the outcome and it wasn't even close at all. We all knew Elite Prism tanks especially in large groups will crush almost anything on ground.

It comes down to range. There are about twice as many Prism tanks firing at any given moment.

The Elite Result is kinda expected. Especially if Elite Prism tank far outrange apocalypse that 4-5 ranks of this stuff can take out 2-3 full ranks of elite apocalypses at the same time in a couple volleys. Actually a 100% survival ratio is possible if the prism tanks weren't stupid moving forward of the firing line.

I knew Elite Prisms were OP, but never new they could dominate APOCs like this. 3:12 😮 It was interesting to watch the Veteran fight, and see how, one by one Prisms were being promoted to Elite. I missed the bugle sfx in all the melee. @greenelf - Do the Elite Prisms have any advantage if they have the high ground? I must figure out how to get the game working on my laptop. I still have the original CD's, inc Uri's revenge!

Unless you have an era CD drive, most likely not. The CDs use secure disk, a hardware level security system, who's drivers don't work on Windows 10 or newer drives. You can get the games through Origin though.

When the Apoc numbers start dropping faster than a freaking glass cannon anti-infantry/anti-structure weapon, you know something's wrong with game balance. RA2/YR is still damn fun, though.

Always thought V3 was an improper long range unit for the Soviets, especially considering the V2 from RA1 had a fast fire rate, just a very long reload time; the same criticism goes for the Dreadnaught vs the Aircraft Carrier, they may be strategic, but they're way less versatile even comparatively.

The aircraft and the missile are too fragile to be versatile i guess like gatling is able to gun down a missile less than a second and they re very slow too lol

The Dreadnought and the Aircraft Carrier are OK because they are both similarly vulnerable to antiaircraft fire, but yeah V3 vs Prism Tank is a tad unbalanced. They could have given the V3 a substantially longer range perhaps.

@@BlameThande v3 and prism tank aren't really comparable, one is 50% more expensive and needs a tech lab, so you're comparing early to late game units. Would make more sense to compare siege choppers to prism tanks.

The interesting thing here is that if instead we had 3 elite prisms vs 2 elite apocs it would be a joke - apocs would win without losing any lives. So elite prisms need the critical mass before the damage stacks up and they become this deadly

It's no surprise. The APOC fully heroic is just an overkill. Fires way too many shots. A veteran APOC is much more effective, "one" shotting the prism and quickly moving on to the next

Something about the prisms being able to hit multiples in one shot is the deciding factor. 1v1 apoc steamrolls.

Yeah, this was very foreseeable Prism is truly a balanced unit. But it does make it extra funny that in competitive games its all T1s anyways

For Soviets yes. The allies actually do rely heavily on their mirages prisms and battlefoetresses. Also rocketeers or jets as a tier 2 strat but their t1 tank is trash

@@mwperk02 As far as I know in competitive games the only allied faction that is regularly played is France for their grand cannons Maybe Yuris Revenge meta is a bit different though

@@adamxue6096 Korea and America are both played for Korea just the threat of buffed jets is enough to make some players preemptively make anti air thus wasting time and money if Korea decides to go ground. And when they do go air and you don't prepare for it those jets will absolutely devastate you. America gets free units they can sneakily deploy anywhere on the map 8 deployed gis are no joke when it comes to destroying buildings. It is all dependent upon how it's used and how your opponent reacts to it though. No one plays Germany though absolute joke faction.

@@mwperk02 Ig those two are understandably playable. I've watched some championships and it's pretty much never allies in original RA2 (Only seen when it's team fights), so it's interesting how Yuri's Revenge changed that. And yeah nobody ever uses Germany because "no armor, is too tough" It's so sad that Tank Destroyer is quite garbage, they really didn't need to do that... Or at least give them Howitzers darn it.

Big surprise that unpromoted prisms did worse than veteran. I thought the promotions to elite would make a huge difference in favor of veterans. I guess apocs' veterancy bonus is also pretty significant.

Engine isn't very good. Don't forget recommend specs was 266MHz. Modern CPUs are over 60x faster. Modern CPUs have up to 6GHz with 200-300% IPC Advantage.
