For all of you who have been given morality lessons instead of the Gospel, hear how Dr. Rod Rosenbladt (of White Horse Inn radio program fame) succinctly presents Christianity as first and foremost a genuine truth claim about Christ as our righteous substitute, instead of a never ending list of popular religious recipes for personal success.
If you've struggled with your faith in your church because of what you're seeing and hearing (and maybe don't even go to church anymore), you don't want to miss this powerful address -- an unabashed analysis of the church today and what it is doing to many believers -- from one who has experienced it himself.

Thank you, thank you for this message. I live in the UK. I go to a baptist church. I couldn't understand why I was so unhappy and struggling. There are no lutheran churches anywhere near us, so we will continue to attend but will boost our knowledge of The true Gospel of Jesus, thru this channel, Pirate Christain Radio and the White Horse Inn talks Thank you again, I can freely breath for the first time. X

Wow! Simply wow. I can only wish there would be more speeches or sermons from Rod Rosenbladt. The gospel is not preached any longer today, and to hear it so clearly again is just amazing. No christian will ever tire of hearing a message like this one, he actually needs to hear it every day. The gospel is for christinas not just a the time of conversion but after he has been converted.

Balm for the soul! After years of a 'Do More, Try Harder' faith, and being certain I was getting better, I found instead, I was always taking 2 steps back! Thanks be to God I was found lacking by my Mod/ Ev friends and the congregation at large. (They eat their own, ya know!) Thanks be to God- He brought me out of Mod-Ev and into Confessional Lutheranism!

Of course the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all iniquity; there are, as Rosenbladt points out, many whose understanding of this is not congruent with his. But the Bible says "no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost," and there are many such men and women in the groups he calls out. An old pastor I knew said, "My job is to point them to the Fountain and let Jesus take them on from there." This advice was spoken In love and with the greatest respect for the truth and authority of the Bible. I suspect there will be many from the groups attacked in this sermon "jumping into heaven" too. Praise God!

"What the sad alumni need to hear, perhaps for the first time is that Christian failures are going to walk into heaven, be welcomed into heaven, LEAP INTO HEAVEN LIKE A CALF LEAPING OUT OF IT'S STALL, laughing and laughing as if it’s all too good to be true. It isn’t just that we failures will get in. It’s that we'll probably get in like that." My favorite part of the lecture :-)

I don't believe those who feel "broken by the church" necessarily no longer believe. I feel those who feel "broken by the church" still believe, but they no longer feel they can trust organized religion - not the people who are in the body, but church leaders, who will not listen to different interpretations that have been ripped out of context by the church and have a violent reaction to anyone who does present a differing interpretation. I understand the basics that should never be compromised on, but if they are not even open to debate on non-essentials, and "drop the hammer" so to speak, on anyone who dares bring up a different viewpoint, I cannot in good conscience stay. This is about issues in such as a churches that continue to teach (wrongly) one particular interpretation of two passages that essentially repeats the scribes' error of "devouring widows' houses". When you sit listening to someone 3x/wk who cannot speak w/o bringing up tithing and giving in every sermon and every lesson, it is spiritually destructive.

But sometimes those folks are the ones who have "ripped things out of context." And not everything can be justified by calling it "a different interpretation." If words mean things, some interpretations are right and some are wrong. And I think it would be a serious mistake to miss the point that the problems Dr. Rosenbladt describes in this talk finally boil down to wrong interpretations, or at least interpretations expressed so badly that what people hear is wrong.

Although I anderstand for his coming from we must remember that many people leave the church simply because they don't want to hear the truth. Many people leave for that reason or because someone let them down as though anyone is perfect.

And quite possibly because the Gospel Dr. Rosenbladt is describing is offensive to them. Some folks manage to convince themselves that they ARE good enough. Even our own fallen natures really want to believe that. The cross is a scandal. Paul was right about that.

The world is full of the Law, especially in our modern society. For many people, it takes very little to convince them of the extent of their transgression of it, if they're being honest with themselves.

I suspect that he is addressing this to people who are already feeling convicted by the law, and the previous answers as to how to address their hopelessness have always been more law rather than the true gospel.

quote rod rosenbladt: "Our repentance is always imperfect and always half-hearted. . . This is preparation for believing the gospel promise (of forgiveness). . . and we do that half-heartedly, too. But God saves us in Jesus anyway.” Really? Jesus want HOT hearts...see revelation: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
@RomGabe
@RomGabe 6 жыл бұрын
He is not speaking about being lukewarm. It is the GOSPEL who makes us hot. If we look and examine ourselves, we still find sin and dissapointment, no?
