Hey, Brother Dale. I hope you’re having a blessed Saturday. Day before Pentecost. I’m so lucky that I e enjoyed an extra fifty days of celebration and observance. Anyway, I just wanted to share just a tiny bit of the intro to a book I just got. The book’s title is The Loving Search for God by William A, Menninger. He worked with Fr. Thomas Keating and Father Basil on Centering Prayer and is, as far as of the publication of the book, a Trappist monk of St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado. He writes in the introduction, “Child of Gods, this book is for you if you want it to be. If you love God or if you simply WANT to love God, this book is for you. Someone recently told me that, in her experience, religion was too often a matter of culture and not a matter of commitment.” Today, I want to commit not just to want to love God, which I presently do. I want to commit to actually love God. I want to commit to love God. To be filled with the Holy Spirit. Pray for me, Brother Dale. And thank you for your guidance. And patience. And for your prayers. Well, a lot of them believed in baptism of children whose parents were within the covenant, a sort of new testament circumcision. But it was not considered to sacramentally effect regeneration. It got very complicated in New England, with the halfway covenant. Search engines have all the rabbit holes one might wish.

@@dalecaldwell Halfway covenant? What do you mean? What should I put into said search engines to effect the result I wish? This is deeply interesting to me as one who was raised Baptist and over the last year has changed my views on Baptism's effects, and in so doing has seen a lot of Puritan influence in the Baptist Church.
