This really warms my heart and makes me grateful that there are parents that teach children AND animals to be gentle and respectful to each other. They have such a sweet bond, Cher is licking her face and hair, they are cuddling, playing together. I’m glad he doesn’t let her feed the snake until she’s older and I’m glad she didn’t have a bad reaction to him saying no. That is a good bond between all of them. Very proud for all three ❤️

I'm really glad he said that she's been taught safe handling, is never unsupervised and doesn't help feed. It sounds like this guy actually knows how to keep and respect large constrictors. Most people who obtain burmese pythons have no business keeping such large and potentially dangerous reptiles, which is why you hear stories about people getting hurt, so it's nice to see that there are some responsible owners getting showcased. Large snakes are fascinating and beautiful, but require a lot of work and should be respected for the top predators they are.

Exactly. My family had pets even before my sister and I were born… they were always in our life, and we were taught very early to be respectful, calm and gentle with them. We were part of their lives, we sometimes fed them, brushed them, gave them water… we learned to be responsible for them. I will be always thankful to my parents because I learned so many important lessons so early - it didn’t even feel like learning or doing chores, they taught us to see the joy in caring for another living being (and we both have enjoyed it ever since). I genuinely pity and feel sad for all the children who grow up without animals (or with animals, but nobody shows them how to behave with them) because they miss out on so much.

This is amazing. He tamed the snake and learned his daughter to behave, so there won't be any conflict and no danger with the snake. There's a wrong perception all snakes are aggressive and dangerous. As long as the animal is fed and is treated gently they have no reason to attack cause there's nothing that would make them feel danger. But Every being has it's own personality and it's the same with snakes too, there are more calmer snakes and there are also more aggressive snakes out there. @@unkownshoo1038 first off, I love snakes and other reptiles. I’ve owned large constrictor snakes and they are amazing creatures - so I’m not one of these anti-snake people. I also have a degree in biology and have taken courses specifically in herpetology. I do agree that certain species of snakes are more docile than others. Some snakes with routine handling can become acclimated to human contact and tamed to a degree. But saying a snake is domesticated because it is calm and doesn’t behave aggressively is a big stretch. Unlike cats and dogs, which underwent thousands of years of careful breeding to finally become domesticated, snakes function almost 100% by instinct. That snake in the video is a beautiful specimen, no doubt. It appears to be well taken care of. However, make no mistake, that snake isn’t hanging around that little girl because it thinks it’s a friend and wants to play Barbie dolls - she is a heat source, nothing more. Hopefully she doesn’t become a food source. It could easily kill her, could even do it accidentally. So again, I’d encourage anyone who is responsible to have a snake if they want one. But it is more of one of those pets that you observe as opposed to having a 2 way interaction like a dog or cat or even a hamster.

@@unkownshoo1038 if you released that snake into the Florida Everglades it would do just fine. It is not trained. It would do fine because it functions on instinct. It’s coloration would not help it because that is not natural (lack of camo), but a 16 footer won’t come across too many predators that can take it out. What do you think it is trained to do? It’s not going to fetch your slippers. They are amazing but aren’t too bright. If you want a reptile that does give feedback and you can train to a degree, try a bearded dragon.

With her size I'd rather not even give the snake the chance to confuse her with the food so never having her scent and the food mixing until she's bigger is the best move. One goofy moment food moment I'll never forget is once I was feeding my garter snakes some toads and as the snake struck the toad jumped out of the way and he bite a leaf instead. That genius was chewing on the leaf for a good 2 minutes before he realized something was off.

When my niece Kayleigh was about 10 months old, she was spending Christmas morning at our house and the cat, Lizzie walked by. Kayleigh of course toddled over to Lizzie and patted at her, and her mom said "No, Kayleigh, be nice to the kitty." Kayleigh looked at her mother, then the cat, and started stroking Lizzie gently. It's not hard to raise kids to be gentle with animals, you just gotta be on top of it ✌🏻

@@Gocolas You're right. The way the girl is holding up her arm and leg, it looks to me like she made sure not to let her whole weight rest on the snake. This isn't grabbing, it's gentle hugging, which is fine to do with socialized pets in my experience.
@leia3618

I can see this being safe and enjoyable for both the kid and the snake, as long as the snake doesn't become extremely stressed, or extremely hungry. But the dad seems to have socialized Cher and taught his daughter the proper way to handle a snake. Cher also looked to be a good weight, so she seems to be on a regular feeding schedule and seems to be feed the right amount of food, too; so long as proper feeding and handling continues, Cher shouldn't get scared or desperate and everyone should be safe. I'm glad that the child is not allowed to feed Cher for many more years, though, so that the snake won't associate her with food.

"The snakes haven't bitten us, the cats have bitten us. And scratched us..." As a cat parent, I felt that. My dogs (play) bite me too. I've come across wild snakes and they havent bitten me. And I even stepped on one accidently. Snakes are actually good guys. Except one that came on the bed with my sis and her boyfriend, gunning for the window above their heads, lol.

All animals, dog, cats, snakes, birds.... they will bite. It is how you train them, and yourselves, that will tame them. But wild animals are... well... wild. They will never truly lose their prey/food drives. And even dogs have their thresholds, no matter how sweet one is. So respect for the animals in your care is a must.

No they don't. Plenty of animals do have complex emotions such as monkeys, whales, crows, etc. but the vast of majority of animals do not possess emotions, or only have primitive emotions such as fear and aggression, which is what snakes fall under. The closest they come to human interaction is trust, but they do not bond in any other way.

Snakes don't develop individual loyalties. If a snake is hungry it will eat the cat, dog, or anything else it sees as prey. A hungry 10-foot Burmese python will eat a child if it is hungry and sees the child as potential food.
@darkhouse8487
@darkhouse8487 20 күн бұрын
@dv8322 incorrect. Pet snakes can not eat people due to diet and expansion. Which is why no pet snake has ever eaten its owner or a child. Not that they would want to in any situation bar starving. Wild snakes out of desperation eat large prey. It leaves them vulnerable to predators and very uncomfortable . She is not seen as prey

Sadly she is no more she was my neighbour's daughter Last night, a tragic and horrifying incident occurred. While Mr. Johnson was away on a business trip, his daughter's pet snake escaped from its enclosure. In the dead of night, while everyone was asleep, the snake made its way to her room. Unfortunately, by the time anyone realized what had happened, it was too late. The snake had constricted and consumed her, a nightmarish scenario that has left the entire neighborhood in shock and mourning. Emergency services and wildlife experts are now at the scene, trying to piece together.

Oh how I wish my rats could live just a bit longer but just as you get to really know them it's over. 2 to 3 years. No one breaks my heart like a rat. There is a med that some diabetic get, they do not make them live alot older but keeps them 'young'. With this I mean far less old age deseases. It's called rapamycin or metformin. This actually also works with humans and it's weird that such a big transformation is kept under the closet. This could change many lives as people get older. Ahswaganda is a natural (and cheap) way to get a natural form. It works great at reducing physical and mental stress and even wrinkles.
