I know for a fact that I can make at least one ISTJ (my mum) go into "grey rock" mode, just by existing. They're so afraid of things I've said, which could have changed their worldview, that they just don't want to perceive that there can be such a way of being. "You're non-binary? Well, I didn't *hear* that information, because it conflicts with my traditionalist views. I'll just scrub that from the memory banks and continue to misgender you and use your full name, even though no one else has in the past 15 years." There's a reason I only visit once a year...

What failing? The 4 ESTJs in my life are literally monsters when it comes to work and acheiving something they want. Literally the person that i am most impressed by is an ESTJ. That woman acheived so many things and all the ENTJs i know couldn't keep up with her or with her hustling. She's my college professor and has soooo many degrees and scientific acheivements and articles. Even so, she is still sweet... but scary because she's intimidating just the way she is not because she wants to be that way. She actually makes an effort to attend to people's wellbeing. - INFJ.

Even though I feel bad for the ESTJ feeling like they're failing, I must say Thank you Kristin for pointing out that INFJs aren't "just" people pleasing diplomats/counsellors; we're also pretty smart, and fast learners - especially when our Ni-Ti goes into overdrive. 😅 Normally INTJ is "the smart Ni one" and INFJ is "The sensitive Ni one" in these kinds of videos, so I appreciate that you didn't go for that "low hanging fruit". 😁

I (INFJ) had an ESTJ boss that lashed out and was constantly frustrated because she felt (and was) unappreciated by the other managers. All I had to do was express appreciation for her efforts and offer sincere commendation and we got along great after that. I also did my job capably and took her advice when it applied. We haven't worked together in years, but still talk. I appreciate types who are easy to read, is my point, I guess 🤣

Really? ESTJs traditionally dont care what others think, we're self driven, self motivated and self accomplished. We tend to hate positive feedback (true fact) we can even see that as weakness. I've dated a bunch of INFJs and they can be very different at times, usually though they cant read me coz of my low Fi and high Te, what so ever, it causes many arguments over silliness. Not totally sure your friends an ESTJ, they wouldn't go to an INFJ for help i can promise you that, unless you're family or someone they have known for life. We like being brick walls with no needs lol (fake of course, we still are human) might be an ISTJ? they are way more emotional & needy of approval then ESTJs.

Well said! I just finished a project with a site superintendent being an ESTJ. The first day I showed up on site, I wanted to make sure I understood him. He took no shit from anyone, and had no reserves when it came to reaming people out for doing things wrong. Being an Infj, as you would assume, I was really sensitive to how he conducted himself as a leader. By the end of it, we ended up having an amazing working relationship, and we had extreme mutual respect for each other. On a jobsite of about 24 people, I think I was the only one he wasnt harsh or hard with. I never intentionally brown nosed him, I made plenty of mistakes. I tried to have unwavering respect for his position, and that may have contributed.

as an ISFJ I actually relate to the way how ESTJs see XNFJs. I’m still not over that one INFJ friend I’ve had who constantly told me things/hidden truths about me in such an inconspicuous way that I’m still unpacking some of their words and advices from years ago. Yeah INFP can be scary sometimes, you do something that they think is bad and they’ll take revenge by annoying you in subtle ways, Fi-Ne can be extremely subtle and imaginative when it comes to punishment As an INTP, I’d say I have two modes. First one is to tell it like it is right off the bat, usually solves the problem but sometimes it’s sparks a heated argument. Second mode is do nothing until you can’t take it anymore and then explode in a ball of rage at the person yelling them all the most terrible things you think about them

As an INTJ, I think you’re bang on about us not being “sensitive” in regards to thoughts, beliefs, and principles. This may be a misattributed paraphrasing of a Mark Twain quote, but one must re-evaluate their stance should he find himself in agreement with the majority. I can easily say I do not align with the majority on a great many issues, but popularity is not an indication of correctness. A good read on this I would recommend to everyone is Plato’s Socratic dialogue “Gorgias”. It truly pushes home how just effective rhetoric can be, in influencing the minds of people. In terms of principles, it is 100% better to be right than to be liked, but in life one should be pragmatic about how to achieve one’s goals. If I simply shared my true thoughts and opinions on everything verbally and publicly, there would be outrage, and most people would no longer wish to associate with me, I likely would no longer be able to volunteer where I volunteer, and I may be terminated from my university. I do not hold extreme views, simply ones that go against what is currently popular and accepted, what is in opposition to the current government of my region and country. But the winds of popularity are a fickle thing. That does not mean I lie to others, I simply do not share, instead listening, learning what I can from others more willing to speak, building a rapport with them based on this information, developing a useful relationship I may be able to leverage in the future. Even if I completely disagree with a person, I can get along with them perfectly fine, and genuinely like them. If they simply assume we agree on things, then that suits me just fine. There’s no need to indicate to them otherwise, and threaten a useful relationship. This may sound cold and utilitarian, and I can see how, but I am not a utilitarian. I think there is such a thing as good and evil, as well as a neutral a category that many things fall under. Regardless of justification, an evil act is evil. It does not take courage to support evil when it is popular and encouraged. It does take courage to oppose evil in such a case, but it is better to take the time to actually make a difference, and improve the world, then to simply sacrifice oneself, ones reputation, ones ability to get a job, in a brave but futile attempt, leaving no meaningful change.

I personally don't think I could be close friends with someone who doesn't share most of my values. That said I'm not also not going to scream at my boss during a work event if we happen to have a difference of opinion. Even as an INFP with strong Fi I know better than that and I do care about keeping my job. I also like it better when people around me are happier rather than stressed. However, I'm very selective about who I let in to my life and who I let see what my values are. I know better than to let everyone on everything I'm thinking all the time. Or at the very least I save that for one or two very close friends. I try to express general warmth and care towards others. I try to be outwardly mellow and polite. I don't always succeed in hiding all my feelings but again I know better than to be cruel. And even if I really dislike someone that doesn't mean I can't learn from them or figure out how to get along -infp

Brilliant work. I did not know that ESTJs saw INTJs that way, but, from this video, I can definitely see how they would draw that conclusion. INTJs are Fe blind, and ESTJs are not (though Fe is at the very bottom of their cognitive function stack in the 8 function model). And, do ESTJs notice the subtle signs of emotions in others? I noticed that the ESTJ seemed very focused on competence and incompetence, both in himself or herself and in others. I have yet to determine the exact cause of this focus, but I suspect that it either involves having Te specifically as a strength (or a dominant function specifically) or having an extroverted judging function as a strength (or specifically as a dominant function). Let's unpack this. Keep up the (educational) entertaining videos, Kristin. I very much enjoy the series on getting into people's heads... and those UK subtitles.

ESTJs have Ni as their blind spot, which coincides with both Ni-doms presenting themselves as superior through ESTJ's lenses in this video, as the blindspot function is a driving force of any type's painstaking insecurity they're often aware of to some extent... However, INFJs, though Ni dominant, have Te as their trickster (aka ESTJ's hero) so they both would be intimidated by one another and felt as if they were intrinsically inferior. INTJs, on the other hand have significantly increased possibility of exercising their strengths in a direct manner of bullying ESTJs. Not only do they have a hero function that ESTJ is absolutely hopeless at, their auxiliary is Te (so they're very adept at operating same steering systems at ESTJ's wheelhouse), and they have Fi under more control than ESTJs... Hanging out with a type whose cognitive functions are stacked in such a way that preeettey much each interaction between them is a sole reminder of ESTJ's shortcomings.

But I also love seeing her using her baby Te and I just want to like pick it up like a little baby and snuggle it and take care of it ENFP: Low key this scares me because obviously I like to talk and feel special like everyone else, but afterwards I sometimes feel bad that I wasted someone's time like that with nonsense ENTJ: This one actually really hit me because I am so used to MBTI memes and content making me feel like ESTJs are just the inferior and useless version of ENTJs (not your content though I will say) that seeing/hearing this skit just really... made me feel seen and valued specifically as an ESTJ. It made me feel like ESTJ and ENTJ are just two different types with different strengths and weaknesses and none of them is "better" than the other and it's kind of making me emotional and I just want to say thank you so much ENTP: STOP, NO. My best friend is an ENTP and I just... I love him but holy smokes does he also infuriate me at times haha. As an ESTJ yup the failing resonates so well. Oi... also we don't like to have other ESTJs in groups cause we will try to crush each other lol 😆 however we value each other from a distance

0:59 SO ACCURATE. I love how smart infj's are! (Im estj) I think my mom and sister are enfj and they know me thoroughly. I was relieved finding about my mbti. I am not one bit bothered that i cant understand people. I'm just glad i know that about myself. It takes away my frustration, helped me accept myself, and I can also warn about my weaknesses to others.

*Ideas for Types through INTP lens:* *ESFP:* You think I talk too much, but I boost your ego by calling you smart - sadly, you don't know how to respond to compliments and fall in an existential crisis every time. *ENFP:* I somehow forget everything you say to me in a day, but remember times you "overspoke" for years to come. *INTJ:* On the [gives exact date, with time and DMY order], you spoke to yourself in Klingon about the [obscure nerd book] you were reading, I replied back in Klingon, and a friendship was formed. You like me as I respect your boundaries, and share the same niche interests - but you fear I may betray you when the revolution comes. *INFJ:* You like me as a friend, but you stay away from me, so I can stop talking about astrology. *INFP:* You wonder how I am more Introverted than you, and fall in an existential crisis when near me. *ESTJ:* If we spoke, we'll find a lot in common. For now, our contrasting views lead us to debate or argument. *ISTJ:* You believe you were as organised as me, when you were 8; now you are a disappointment. *ENTP:* I am you after a few shots of hard liquor. *ESTP:* You like me, because I credited you for a joke I made after you said too quietly for anyone to hear. But besides that, you see me as a cliché athlete bully and believe I'll end up in jail. *ENTJ:* You see me as a great leader, but I am too scary and argumentative to approach. I'm not sure about the other types. Also feel free to ignore my comment, I just wanted to share my ideas :)
