This series is based on a true story. Five teenagers were accused of a crime they did not commit. This is the story of five broken lives. Will justice be served?

His support of his friend isnt the problem. Its the amount of power the police had and using law degrees and tactics against kids to close cases that aren't truly solved

I’ve watched this several times, and Korey’s suffering in prison gets me every time. I cry the entire 4th episode because it’s just so infuriating!!! He was only 16, yet they put him in jail with fully grown men who took advantage of his sweet spirit and youth. They all suffered wrongfully but his story touches my heart I’m so glad they’re not “The Central Park 5” anymore but are now “The Exonerated 5”! They should have gotten more than they did for their pain, suffering and lost youth.

The victim didn't even care that they were wrongfully convicted, and neither did her supporters. I'm from Harlem and there's still tons of people who still believe they're guilty because of the confessions smh. It also makes me cringe when they make the prosecutors seem bothered by what they were doing, despite them also claiming they were guilty because of the confessions in real life

It was uncomfortable to watch, but during those moments when I wanted to look away or turn it off, I had to remember that. It was much worse in reality than any mini series could ever capture and depict. I felt like I was being disrespectful to even think like that when he LIVED IT!!! So I really would rethink about watching it.

Excuse the long post. This still makes my blood boil! This story is both a saga and an epic. There is, of course, triumph. Yet, the injustice, corruption, and inhumanity of what these five men endured is heart-wrenching and indicative of the racism and classism that runs throughout law enforcement and the criminal justice system. When ppl of color, especially Black men, receive justice, it’s the exception to the rule. It doesn’t exonerate or consecrate a system that has cost dearly and done unimaginable damage to innumerable men and women of color, especially educationally and economically disadvantaged ones. I don’t know how to fix this. Besides, there appears little incentive to overhaul and right-size the lethal combination of over-policing and railroading communities of color, given how much small towns, public officials, investors, and cooperations benefit from it. It’s gratifying and remarkable to see how these men manifested resilience and experienced vindication. However, 41 million dollars can’t compensate them enough for their physical and psychic indignities and the years taken from them. Moreover, the money does not cover all the families they live with. After all, whenever a person does time, so does their family-not counting the strain such ordeals place on a family system to absorb and adapt. What a damn sin and shame! At the same time, what should never be overlooked is that Trish Meili’s was forever changed. The sexual abuse and psychic trauma to which I was subjugated are harrowing and unacceptable (abcnews.go.com/US/case-settled-1989-central-park-jogger-believes-person/story?id=63077131). Still, I’ve seen nothing to suggest that had any sympathy for five young men whose lives were ruined, too (www.oprah.com/omagazine/oprah-interviews-the-central-park-jogger/all). Perhaps she did-or does, but I never saw reports of that. Admittedly, that may be too much to expect of a victim of such a horrendous crime. Finally, I’m appalled yet not surprised by the fact that the prosecutor, lead detective, and the interrogating detectives never seem to be held accountable for railroading these young men. Some of them, like Liz Lederer, experienced minor blowback (e.g., she quit teaching law at Columbia because of pressure from the Black law students). However, that’s a mere pittance of punishment compared to the disservice done and the incalculable damage for which she is in no small measure responsible.

Both sides to this has been so full of bs. First, the public knew there were confessions from some, so how does that make someone racist? I can't imagine anyone being happy if a neo nazi had confessed either. Second, from what was stated from the police was that there was physical evidence. Are you going to say you think they are innocent? As far as them being innocent, they were not innocent considering what they were doing in the park. That being said, these were kids! Kids do stupid things and that's no reason to beat them and starve them into confession. That they weren't appointed attorneys from the beginning was the biggest crime. As for lawyers, that they charge so much should be a crime in itself! People should be able to afford a decent lawyer. These men will never get back their childhood. These parents lost their children because of corrupt cops and lawyers. The man who did this, and let children be jailed for his crimes, should be given more decades for that. I know he's a serial rapist, but he's also a killer of children. He took away their childhood. He's the reason they were tortured mentally, physically, and sexually...There's just nothing short of Hell good enough for him.

Inregards to what they were accused of they were innocent. Totally innocent!!!! And one of them wasn't even at the park at all so he is completely innocent!! The only people who are guilty in this case were the police and prosecutors who got illegal false confessions from children.

Korey's sister. You kept misgendering her again and again even though the source material clearly states she's Marcy

So I ask those of u that say y’all go through the struggles, oppression, and prosecution American heterosexual male face. To the LGBT community and BW do they round y’all up like this , even as kids and put cases on y’all?? When a white woman, better yet any race of woman says an unknown black man assaulted her every black man in a 10 mile radius is a suspect
