Featured is the key game 17-year-old Gukesh D won which propelled him as the sole leader in the 2024 FIDE Candidates. His victory in the penultimate round against Alireza Firouzja gave him a narrow half point lead over Nakamura, Caruana & Nepomniachtchi. Gukesh D, India's #1 ranked chess player, would maintain that lead after the 14th and final round was complete. Gukesh finished with 9 points, and made history by becoming the youngest challenger ever for a world chess championship title. Gukesh D will soon challenge World Chess Champion Ding Liren.

Incredible spirit by Gukesh. The fact that he lost against the same player earlier in the tournament, after being in the winning position, due to time pressure. And then finding himself in a deja vu like scenario in the penultimate game, only to held his nerve and convert, shows his tenacity.

For me the most amazing part is when he said in the post match interview when asked a question, that for him, if he had to point out one moment when he felt he can really do it, was after his loss in the 7th round!! Because after that loss he felt at his absolute best and that loss really motivated him to give his best!! This speaks volumes about his mental resilience and his composure, and for me that is what separated him from others.

It's remarkable just how mature and confident Gukesh's games have been. I am excited for the Liren - Gukesh match. Chess has been called the gentleman's game, while those who are in this world know that it's also filled with Ego and drama - but I feel like this matchup actually reflects this old sentiment. Both carry a cool demeanour, but a tumultuous storm rages within them.

Maybe cover Fabiano-Nepo game too because it was quite complex and I couldn't understand how the computers showed win for Fabi and suddenly changed to draw without Fabi actually making a blunder. How is that possible ?

I've seen the analysis of that game by English grandmaster Daniel King. He was staggered that Fabi had trouble with the clock, but got himself to the time control, had chances to win, but didn't think for long enough so blew it.

This is really great analysis of the game and the best part is that the way you explain it, it teaches the viewer a lot about the game. There is so much one can learn from watching the video. I guess this is my first video, but I am subscribing. Your channel needs to be much more popular than the absolute rubbish like Gotham chess. It is absolutely beyond me as to why people watch that channel.

My rule of thumb when playing chess is, the less pieces on the board (especially the rooks) the more my king will try to centralise itself as and when I can.... Otherwise I leave him on G1 or C1..... And only move if I calculate a threat within a few moves ...... Man I love this game, and this channel 🥰

@oddpoppetesq.3467
@oddpoppetesq.3467 Ай бұрын
@@kendragonesgamer3506 yh that's what I meant by a calculated threat, if I know the opposition wants to take the B file before castling, I go G1 castle (bishop depending), if not it may be a C1 castle followed by B1 depending on the pawn structure and if the oppositions black bishop is still on the board.... I speak from the white players perspective, assuming they still have control of the board... Dang I love this game, so many tactics and possibilities that completely change each move thats made.....
