On this week's episode of Midwest Whitetail, we take a deep dive into one of the most epic single season deer hunting stories ever captured in the whitetail woods. A roller coaster filled with the lowest of lows to the highest of highs, we couldn't be more excited to share this one with you. Kaleb Greiner entered the 2023 hunting season with high hopes but he could have never predicted what followed next. Kaleb, to do this is incredible in the first place. The effort was second to none, but to get this on video (the kill) is astonishing. Explaining the equipment at the end is so important, but just one of so many choices have to be made and all the stars that have to align! This has to be one of the top hunting stories I've seen. Love the long detailed explanation of the hunting year for Kaleb. Watching the earlier episodes I felt so bad when he was finding top deer dead and how discouraged he was getting. So happy for him and glad I got to see the ending!

I know everyone has their opinion and I have mine. I've been a deer hunter for 37 years. I've watched thousands of hunts, from videos, to tv, and now youtube. This is the best, most entertaining, gut wrenching at times hunt I have ever watched. Not just a giant of a buck being takin, but the story telling, the emotion, the rush. He is so adamant about giving back to the landowners and making it a two way street in the relationship and he prides himself on that! It's a special situation when you can obtain new friends and deeper relationships with the property owners and often results in longevity of having that spot to hunt! Turns out, we got to the tree and he was done! It's incredible when a plan comes together like that because we all know way to often while hunting whitetails, the plan fails. When you combine that epic ending with the high and low points throughout the months prior to that, it really creates one of the best storylines we have ever had. It just goes to show you that no matter how down you get in the season, it can turn around in the blink of an eye. Goodness guys, we really do appreciate that. It's crazy to think about the time that's passed since that late November evening but it feels like it was moments ago. What a story, and what a buck. I cant believe that stalk worked. Congratulations. I have seen deer live in tiny blocks of brush especially when there's water and food immediately around.

The stars definitely aligned for that stalk! From the wind direction, topography, Vendetta being between us and the doe, and most of all the little buck running and really helped us sneak in tight! The tiny blocks are definitely seeming to be productive for Kaleb and I'm sure more people will be looking at them after this! What Kaleb and Rye put together that day could have gone wrong hundreds of different ways but using wind a topography to there advantage they were able to make it happen! Any area that contains water, food, cover, and low pressure can truly be an overlooked area when it comes to whitetails! There is no doubt the emotional level at that moment was at an all time high and with Kaleb and Rye being such close friends it was nothing but good vibes and high fives.
