My friend shot me in the right hand while I was driving us around one night decades ago cause he's an idiot. He claimed oh I thought the Safety was on lol. I was like you asshole !! But the point I wanna make is I was shot in the hand with just a Pump Pistol by Crosman "The American Classic" and once that Copper coated BB entered my hand it hurt like a Mother Effer !!! My whole hand instantly was just crippled. I couldn't move it or bend my fingers or anything. I managed to drive myself to the Hospital with my left hand that night and that wasn't easy either considering I was driving a 5 speed manual. The doctor couldn't even get the BB out of my hand cause it came to rest pretty much dead center of my hand and he said it may cause even more damage if he fished around in there trying to get it out. So yeah still to this day I have a BB stuck inside my hand and I'll be taking that BB to the grave with me some day. But point I was trying to make is that was a hand pistol not a rifle. It was enough to stop me dead in my tracks. You don't have to kill somebody to stop them. Chances are as long as you break the skin and cause them great pain they will not continue to try and come inside your house or come at you once they're shot and feel the pain. They'll be like oh sh!t that hurts like a mofo and turn around to get the hell outta there lol. It really was an intense pain that I had never felt anything like it before. I think the FPS on that particular pump pistol was 600 something. It was pumped atleast 10 times when it was shot at my hand. Crippling intense pain !!! And that was only 1 single shot I took. If it had been multiple shots who knows what woulda happened. Glad I didn't have to find out.

@@DonnieJLCarson I would argue that volume of fire makes a pretty big difference as well, especially in a defensive situation where you're under duress and don't exactly have time to take a single well aimed shot. Impressive test, especially considering you used several layers of loose denim, each one absorbing quite a bit of shock, and people tend to wear only one. Also the plastic is a lot tougher than skin. That all being considered, the impact of the pellet can be considerably harder in a real-target situation. All I can say is WOW!
@STKO20116 жыл бұрын
Thanks!
@Madara8989 Жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment but > Also the plastic is a lot tougher than skin. This doesn't matter, because while the plastic is more "harder" than skin, it's a lot less resistant to impacts explicitly due to that difference in rigidity (the plastic can't bend and warp without suffering massive internal stresses and then breaking). Airsoft guns would make shrapnel of a tupperware container, but they won't do much of shit but welt someone's skin because our skin & muscles flex to dissipate the impact force and prevent lasting damage like tears or cuts. Hell, you can see this in play by throwing a baseball as hard as you can at a plastic bowl, then throwing it at a person and seeing that the bowl took far more damage than the person's body part did.

I swear, you are the only guy out there that has the balls to really get to the real questions about airguns and their abilities in low caliber. Thank you for posting your information! I personally think, anything that is within 50 ft is really hurting or is going to die within a well placed shot. This evening there were two doe's and 2 fawns that were about 50ft from me as I was driving up to the house. Now, if I had to eat, I wouldn't of thought twice about one of those doe's. I know that it would of died pretty fast with a precise shot with my .22 1000fps - and that's my mrod second gen. Even with your headshot video, I learned I could even take a deer at that footage with a .177. They are definitely underestimated. I am glad so far they are available. But, soon we know what will happen and we air gunners will have the upper hand, because the bullets will eventually disappear. Still can't compete with a firearm. Unless you had a thermal scope and a nice moderator in the dark, then the tides could be even

It's pretty obvious that a real gun does more damage, however if you can't get your hands on a real gun for whatever reason, air guns can provide some sort of safety might it be visually or physically.i myself take this has you may, have shot someone with a .177 pellet air rifle and a 395fps pistol and trust me when I say that it does enough to give you the chance to breath and not get robbed.its easy to make fun and joke about people who have air guns but when your life or your family's life are at risk you would like to have some sort of protection in what ever form it may be.

In most parts of the world and some parts of US, killing an unarmed intruder can get you several years of prison time (at least). Regarding using an air-rifle for self defense: an attacker might not feel the penetration of that tiny projectile, and could possibly continue the attack. Hopefully, if he saw he had been shot, just that knowledge might make him break it off. When I was a boy, I shot a large bothersome dog. I used my Sheridan Blue Streak 5 mm air rifle. The dog acted like it didn't feel anything, but it trotted off. It was found dead later. This happened in the 1970s. To this day, I still feel bad about it. As an adult, I shot a skunk in our yard with a break-barrel pellet rifle rated at 1000 fps using .177 pellets. The air rifle was advertised for use against skunks. It killed the skunk, but only after multiple body shots. A few years ago, while hunting, I shot a rabbit with my Benjamin Marauder .25 cal pre-charged air rifle, made for hunting. A body shot failed to drop my rabbit, and it ran off. Then and there I decided that for hunting rabbit I'll only use a .22 LR firearm. The air rifles I've used do not have much stopping power.

Imagine having a fully automatic .22 pellet gun that can shoot 100 pellets. The Air Ordnance SMG 22 Tactical shoots up to 12 rounds per second. So, in less than 10 seconds you can shoot 100 .22 caliber pellets at someone's face, neck, torso or groin. If you shot just at the head, you would probably kill that person. One of the advantages is that you are not going to blow out your eardrums like you would if you shot a firearm. Would you consider it as an option for self defense inside the home?

My Dan Wesson 8" revolver would probably scare any burglar in the UK without even having to pull the trigger. Most UK burglars are only armed with a crowbar, as real guns are very hard to come by over here. I think it needs to be emphasised that you have more chance of scaring a burglar off with an airgun in the UK than you would in the USA. If I lived in the U.S, I probably would buy the real thing.

Even air weapon stronger than 10,5J and velocity more than 200m/sec(around 650fps) we have to do register in the police office. So this is very good video to peples see that is posible to deffend home with strong air rifle, specially wity 5.5(.177)cal. I was watch video by Iraqyveteran, when he say that by military standars, weapon that can penetrate half inch wood table can do deadly wound. So I was done my test with 7,5J 180m/sec=591fps(factory data but I think is litle bit stronger, they put that data coz in some European country that is maximum strog airguns that you can free own) B3-2 rigle and 16J 250m/sec=around 850fps Hammerli 850 AirMagnum. That rifles are cal. 4,5mm (.177) and bouth of them easely penetrate 15mm(thats litle bit more of half inch) wood at 15 and 20 meters, bouth rifles. Im sure that they will penetrate even at longer distance but I did not do that test more coz that enough for me, I do lots of plinking cans and that stuff at 40 to 50 meters, somethimes Iwas shooting pest and do small game huntig, and I know that air rifles are not childrens toys. btw, a air rifle can kill someone. If you hit them in the eye it can go through into the brain. If you have a PCP based airrifle that can fire more than 1 round, say full auto or even semi, at the skull, enough rounds can crack, break, and soften the skull, which can lead to shards of bone peircing the brains tissue ect. Which can fuck someone up. 1 air rifle shot wont kill someone in most cases, but being shot anywhere by one, will soon cause the intruder to loose concentration. In the UK our air guns are restricted to 12ft/pounds but I remember (1990's) getting hold of a box of pellets called NATO rounds they were solid pointed with a chrome-like finish with a nylon skirt, they would shoot straight through a steel bin with no deformation of the pellet, I think they got banned I haven't been able to source them since. They would kill. There again they might have been for firearms rated rifles over 12 ft/pounds then you need a firearms license which over here is nearly impossible.

@Gator-357 Жыл бұрын
The Umarex .50 cal pistol with the steel core hard plastic or solid steel balls will do some damage and allows for a pepper ball option and can be upgraded for more power with a valve change. I also have a Red Dragon .30 cal pcp air rifle that will sling a 300gr lead slug at 2300 fps and is quite capable of taking a deer. The only issue is that you can't keep it pressurized and at the ready because it will damage the seals. The Umarex .50 cal pistol is a decent option for self defense with an air gun. But a beak barrel hunting rifle with an 800fps rating or higher will definately penetrate skull or torso bone with the right ammo and probably the best option but lacks quick backup shots like a CO2 pistol allows. I would chose a repeating pistol using BBs. Although much lower fps, you have the option of up to 20 rapid fire shots and if landed to the face or neck, would make for a bad day, especially at ranges for personal or home defense of less than 20 or 30 feet are average. Another option not often thought about for home defense is a flare gun. Although care would have to be taken with a crefully aimed shot placed so you don't burn the place down. Definately not a first choice but it's a viable option and better than nothing or going toe to toe. If you have better options, use them, just offering up some ideas here.

This is new to me , if you live with in the US and have a record that prevents you from owning a firearm I had always thought your only options if you liked to shoot, hunt, or defense was air guns, bow and arrow (not tipped with ammunition cartridge) / crossbow, and or any primitive type weapons that don't use any type of combustion IE gunpowder to propel a projectile. Learned this just this past Friday (now it may only be with in the state I am in or it's a new law altogether) that you can actually be charged with felony ccw or felon in possession of ccw. Now cc or ccw to me means concealed carry or carrying a concealed weapon, meaning a pistol hidden from sight or in close proximity out of site. So when a buddy of mine was mistaken for a person of interest and was in the yard with a single shot break barrel pellet rifle , the police officers told him they could charge him. Which blew my mind as well as his. They said because it's pneumatic and just as the videos host said its possible to kill someone with a .177 caliber (can also be killed with a pencil a fork a knife a bow etc.) What confuses me how can you get a concealed on a long rifle. Plus correct me if I am wrong not all air guns are pneumatic are they? In the end because he honestly didn't know they only confiscated it. Still dumbfounded if anyone knows the actual law on this please elaborate.

I have 1st and foremost a concealed handgun license, a lot of pistols, rifle, 2 shotguns, and AR 15, but however there are still places you go or I go that are firearm free and cannot carry and in those cases I have C02 revolver that shoots 550 fps pellets & 510 BB's and also a Beretta APX C02 with clip holding 20+ BB's 495 fps. Both of those feet per second ratings are factory and have since tuned them up increasing the power but don't have a speed measuring device as of now. I appreciate these videos myself and actually do things like this to learn and I should really setup a channel. I always see clowns in the comment section trying to act tough but I guarantee if you get hit with one of mine or the guy in this video if it doesn't kill you will be crying not laughing what so ever. To be honest it only takes close to 500 feet per second to penetrate at least 4 inches into your body. I am in no way saying use these in a gun fight I am saying they are not a toy and can cause serious injury and or death without much effort. There are now some air guns that came out this year that actually I would prefer over a firearm but I don't own one of those yet anyways. Even a couple my friends tried to be cute cracking a joke until I showed them the videos and now they want to see one of their guns to buy one of 3 of these I showed them. One is an automatic and it is not .177 cal either and then one rifle was shooting and having the speed measured and hitting consistently over 2300 fps and small handful of times he hit as high as 2500+ and so he decided to shoot an old car he had in his backyard and it was going through the metal door through the panel and into the seat and lost it. People are using these to take down big game hunting so the days of laughing and giggling like a girl have come and gone I assure you and in fact ill be the one holding air gun you can have the firearm and I will be the one laughing and giggling.

If you only have the option of using this for defense, keep a few "special" pellets. What are special pellets? These would be normal pellets that may have a slight bit of Vaseline placed in the back skirt. This creates a dieseling effect and in turn significantly increases fps. But, the only drawback is that this will damage the air rifle over time. Hence why I used the word special.

Shoot To Kill Outdoors Email them, you have enough subs right now to get their attention. But why limit yourself to only one brand? All airgun makers will become interested if you keep making videos and getting subs. Good video. Good luck.

i have ownes 2 of these guns ...the first one suffered from the magazine split being plastic ...the later iteration seems worse ...i wouldnt reccomend buying this gun as lovely as it feels .the plastic mags just arnt up to 15 rounds ....if you do get one i would suggest a max of 10 to stop the magazine if you dont want it to sp;it and shoot out the bbs and the spring...such a shame for such a nice gun

Ik this might be a bit out of everyone's price range, but I recently got sumatra 2500 .25 it's a 6 shot repeater lever action putting out (on average with 48 gr slugs) about 90 ft lbs of energy. A far cry from some of the big bores, but I most definitely would use it if it was all i had considering it's a very powerful pcp with an adjustable power wheel(plus indoors it sounds almost like a shotgun, please use ear protection). Put it on full power, keep cocking it after every shot, and already have some mags loaded, you'll be ready for an intruder in no time.

A riffle would be a little too much guys. My 100 pound pit should take care of that for me no sweat😂

Here in Italy burglers got smart, they use a sleeping spray first, so when they enter they find you sleeping like a baby beside your gun.

It might not kill them but they'd retreat to think about not trying that again. What if you had a automatic fire that puts alot of BBs down range?
