@@STKO2011 I regret to inform you I've hunted a turkey that was in a large group they ate over 10 of my fully matured melon plants leaving nothing but a sprig with no leaves or flowers,so I got out my .30 breakbarrel with 40x illuminated scope ,laser sight,canted sight,and a nice sling mounted on and put my shot center on the left side towards the spine of the bird ,the first shot ricochet off the wing and sent feathers across the shot path snapping the wing in two, the second shot was a both leg and body shot closely missing the entrails and ruining the meat ,I took a disabling shot which went almost clear through, it contacted the leg muscles and ripped out the other side leaving a large cavity,it went into the birds body smashed through the muscles on its back and came out at the top of the leg at the joint, it went into the bird for the third time destroying it's leg with a huge impact point where all the energy was dumped, I found the pellet while cleaning... it was sitting in a cavity inside the compound leg fracture between bones ,broke completely in half through the bird with a clearly open oozing entry wound ,and the third shot was for uhm humane reasons I put the shot into it's spine sending it down immediately it was light out for the tough bird in under a second.

Customer review of a .45 cal up to 1000 fps pellet rifle "I'm posting this as an update to my first review. I took the Texan out Saturday morning for whitetail rifle opener. Took a 275 lb 8 pointer at 90 yards with a 300 grain slug. The bullet passed thru a right side rib, detached (destroyed) the right lung, passed over the heart, thru the left lung, key holed thru a left rib and lodged just under the hide without exiting. That tells me the 300 grain is the ideal 100 yard slug for a vitals shot. Ballistics are different for different weight bullets, so do your homework at the range before you take this beast out to the field and you won't be disappointed. Thanks Midway for carrying the Airforce Texan!!!"

May daughter had a Red Ryder. Shot my lab with it. He didn’t get hurt, but I wanted to make a point. So I took her out with her gun, my .22 and a can of tomato sauce. I told her to press on the can. Then to press on her arm. I said we’re a lot softer than that, right...she nods. So is Bear. Shot the can with hers and it actually put a hell of dent in it. Actually penetrated it, cracked its surface. Shot it with mine, and just exploded it everywhere. Got her, me, everywhere. I told her they’re both little bullets. She could have killed Bear if she had hit him in the right place. I think of the BB gun fights we had as kids and other stupid crap we did, dirt clods, rock fights......and I’m not sure how the hell we all lived this long. She was raised around guns from day one. She could handle one, safety wise, just as good as any recruit in basic. Wouldn’t flag you, good muzzle awareness, but that kid, that curiosity, is something that needs to be satisfied by showing them what these can do and how dangerous they can be. She’s a full grown woman now, hard to believe, and she is very safe with firearms, and a proficient shooter.

It should probably be noted that the deer was found by Fish and Game. In other words, the shooter didn't get to harvest the deer because it got away and died a lingering death. Traditionally, poachers used 22 shorts to poach game and deer, but in every case shot placement was key to success. A lung/heart shot with a pellet won't yield a successful hunt because the game will get away much more often than not. Thus the rules and regs specifying what is allowed for legal hunting. A long needle in the eye can kill. That doesn't mean it's advisable.

All you need to know to know that pellets like this are deadly is to know that 1. It's a metal projectile, and 2. A lot of airguns are 1000 - 1200 fps. Plenty of 22LR are around 1200 fps. There are only marginal differences between getting shot by one of these and getting shot by a .22 and people die all the time from .22 accidents. there are other factors of course. it doesn't have as much range so the farther from the muzzle the less energy it will retain, and if the person getting shot is wearing a lot of clothes then a pellet will have a lot less penetrative ability than a .22, but if i was standing like 20 feet away from someone and they were pointing one of these air guns at me i would fear for my life the same way i would if they were pointing a .22 rifle at me.
@IntrebuloN3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but 0.22LR bullets weigh about 5x as much, so there's 5x as much energy at the same velocity. Even the heaviest 0.177s are only 20 grains, which is half the 0.22 LR avg weight. And that airgun rated for 1200fps is not shooting a 20 grain 0.177 pellet anywhere near that, maybe 600-700fps.

Air rifles are legal for deer hunting in North Carolina, where the state regs allow "ANY" rifled device (not machine guns) to hunt deer. It does NOT require a minimum caliber, and the device does NOT have be a firearm. It just has to be rifled. One exception is the airbow, which for hunting purposes North Carolina considers a rifle. So yes, you can legally hunt deer here with a .177 air rifle. Perfectly legal.

I have been a gun enthusiast for years and I am also an Army veteran (MP). I have fired just about every type of pistol and rifle. When I had kids, I sold off my guns and just over the last 10 years, I started buying air pistols and rifles. BB pistols aren't that powerful. Most of them fire at around 300-350 fps using CO2 carts. Will barely cause a bruise and might break the skin. BUT....When you get into rifles, it's a whole different world. Pellet rifles range from 500-750 fps. Some, can even go up to 1200-1500 fps. That's about the same speed as a 9mm or .22 round. I have a Crosman M4 .177 that if fully pumped could easily take down an animal or even a person. I fired a pellet at 5 pieces of sheet rock, leaned against each other and went through those and embedded in plywood. Air guns, in general, should NEVER be underestimated. Under certain conditions, they can be as deadly as a firearm.

@@Templar-jj3ig I agree. They're super powerful, and I wouldn't want to be hit by one either. But a .177 or .22 or even a .25 caliber pellet shot from a break barrel air rifle would have to be such a perfect freak accident where the pellet passes between the rib bones and both lungs of a mule deer. I seen a small white tail doe, under 120 pounds, taken at 25 yards with a .357 cal 145 gr pellet shot from a Benjamin Bulldog. The pellet did pass through both lungs but not the hide. It wound up in the side of the deer's neck at the hide. That was a 145 grains of pellet shot from one of, if not thee, most powerful .357 air rifles on the planet. All I'm saying is that assuming this small caliber pellet was shot from a break barrel air rifle rather than a precharged air rifle or a rimfire .17 hmr is 'jumping the gun' so to speak. 🤠

@amitachalal853 жыл бұрын
@@STKO2011 Thanks so much.
@frederikmare90023 жыл бұрын
Hi Amit. The power (energy) of a bullet depends on ONLY 2 things!... The weight of the bullet and the velocity at which it travels! The mere fact that a bullet spins can't give the bullet more energy!!! a Rifled barrel don't give more power to the projectile that you shoot, it just stabilizes the projectile (which increases accuracy). a Round projectile don't have to spin to be stable in flight since it is round, therefore all side same side... However a biablo pellet is shaped such that all side is not same side... a TUMBLING (head over heels) diablo pellet will not fly straight while a tumbling round ball will still fly straight... Also a diablo pellet tumbling head over heels will have MUCH MORE wind resistance than a round ball, therefore the diablo will loose its velocity more rapidly! Downrange the round ball will eventually have higher velocity (remaining) than the diablo, therefore the energy of the round ball will eventually become more than that of the diablo. However since the diablo spins (which stabilizes it) this don't happen. It is really a pity that you are not allowed to use rifled barrels, since that gives you a larger choice of projectiles to use! I believe the best you can do is to shoot ROUND LEAD 4,5 mm (. 177) bullets since they don't need to spin in order to fly stable! You can shoot steel BB's as well. Steel BB's will be faster and have a flatter trajectory than lead BB's but lead BB's (since they are heavier) will have more energy!... Get both steel BB's and lead BB's... Lead BB's will also be less affected by wind than steel BB's... Get both (lead and steel) and decide which one to use depending on the circumstances! To shoot a small bird or a rat (for instance) at short distance while there is not much wind, use a steel BB... To shoot something larger/tougher (maybe over a longer distance), use a lead BB... Most important, know the capability of you and your gun and don't take a shot when you are not comfortable to take that shot!!!
@amitachalal853 жыл бұрын

Don't eat them, and I think there's a warning now on them saying you need to wash your hands after use..
