I would shoot at the tin wall of our hog barn, which was about 50yds away and that BB would just smack the piss out of it in the blink of an eye. I’m really surprised I’ve had that BB gun still working for the past 10 years. The trusty Crosman pumpmaster. Not a speck of rust and I’ve done absolutely no maintenance to it besides the 1 time I Greased the pump lever.

@@STKO2011 I regret to inform you I've hunted a turkey that was in a large group they ate over 10 of my fully matured melon plants leaving nothing but a sprig with no leaves or flowers,so I got out my .30 breakbarrel with 40x illuminated scope ,laser sight,canted sight,and a nice sling mounted on and put my shot center on the left side towards the spine of the bird ,the first shot ricochet off the wing and sent feathers across the shot path snapping the wing in two, the second shot was a both leg and body shot closely missing the entrails and ruining the meat ,I took a disabling shot which went almost clear through, it contacted the leg muscles and ripped out the other side leaving a large cavity,it went into the birds body smashed through the muscles on its back and came out at the top of the leg at the joint, it went into the bird for the third time destroying it's leg with a huge impact point where all the energy was dumped, I found the pellet while cleaning... it was sitting in a cavity inside the compound leg fracture between bones ,broke completely in half through the bird with a clearly open oozing entry wound ,and the third shot was for uhm humane reasons I put the shot into it's spine sending it down immediately it was light out for the tough bird in under a second.

Customer review of a .45 cal up to 1000 fps pellet rifle "I'm posting this as an update to my first review. I took the Texan out Saturday morning for whitetail rifle opener. Took a 275 lb 8 pointer at 90 yards with a 300 grain slug. The bullet passed thru a right side rib, detached (destroyed) the right lung, passed over the heart, thru the left lung, key holed thru a left rib and lodged just under the hide without exiting. That tells me the 300 grain is the ideal 100 yard slug for a vitals shot. Ballistics are different for different weight bullets, so do your homework at the range before you take this beast out to the field and you won't be disappointed. Thanks Midway for carrying the Airforce Texan!!!"

Perhaps in many cases, but even a 22lr has pretty close to 20x the energy of a .177 pellet from an air rifle. Dont be trying to hunt deer with a little sub 10 ftlb airgun, your more likely to cause unnecessary pain and suffering and likely to not actually be able to recover the deer. I'm going to usr this to show my youngest grand children that a pellet rifle can be deadly to humans. BB guns and other pellet guns are NOT TOYS, paint ball puffers or Air Softs in any fashion. However, they can be effective pest control, target rifles and training devices. Do not let those that you don't tust handle one. If they are interested enough, they will ask to be trained and tested. Later in life they will become trusted adults. Safety First

May daughter had a Red Ryder. Shot my lab with it. He didn’t get hurt, but I wanted to make a point. So I took her out with her gun, my .22 and a can of tomato sauce. I told her to press on the can. Then to press on her arm. I said we’re a lot softer than that, right...she nods. So is Bear. Shot the can with hers and it actually put a hell of dent in it. Actually penetrated it, cracked its surface. Shot it with mine, and just exploded it everywhere. Got her, me, everywhere. I told her they’re both little bullets. She could have killed Bear if she had hit him in the right place. I think of the BB gun fights we had as kids and other stupid crap we did, dirt clods, rock fights......and I’m not sure how the hell we all lived this long. She was raised around guns from day one. She could handle one, safety wise, just as good as any recruit in basic. Wouldn’t flag you, good muzzle awareness, but that kid, that curiosity, is something that needs to be satisfied by showing them what these can do and how dangerous they can be. She’s a full grown woman now, hard to believe, and she is very safe with firearms, and a proficient shooter.

That's crazy how it punched through all those layers of denim first, and then continued through everything else. Wow, didn't expect that! I bet if you had used those little zinc bullet things with the plastic sheath, I think they're called sabot pellets or something, anyway, I bet one of those would have punched through everything and kept going. I've experimented with them before and they will punch a clean hole through a steel cooking pan at 10 yards. I shot one at a steel barrel too, and it punched a clean hole right through. It should probably be noted that the deer was found by Fish and Game. In other words, the shooter didn't get to harvest the deer because it got away and died a lingering death. Traditionally, poachers used 22 shorts to poach game and deer, but in every case shot placement was key to success. A lung/heart shot with a pellet won't yield a successful hunt because the game will get away much more often than not. Thus the rules and regs specifying what is allowed for legal hunting. A long needle in the eye can kill. That doesn't mean it's advisable.

All you need to know to know that pellets like this are deadly is to know that 1. It's a metal projectile, and 2. A lot of airguns are 1000 - 1200 fps. Plenty of 22LR are around 1200 fps. There are only marginal differences between getting shot by one of these and getting shot by a .22 and people die all the time from .22 accidents. there are other factors of course. it doesn't have as much range so the farther from the muzzle the less energy it will retain, and if the person getting shot is wearing a lot of clothes then a pellet will have a lot less penetrative ability than a .22, but if i was standing like 20 feet away from someone and they were pointing one of these air guns at me i would fear for my life the same way i would if they were pointing a .22 rifle at me.
@IntrebuloN
@IntrebuloN 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but 0.22LR bullets weigh about 5x as much, so there's 5x as much energy at the same velocity. Even the heaviest 0.177s are only 20 grains, which is half the 0.22 LR avg weight. And that airgun rated for 1200fps is not shooting a 20 grain 0.177 pellet anywhere near that, maybe 600-700fps.

Airguns can be deadly and be handled like any weapon that can launch a projectile.

Honestly, look up some of these PCP air rifle videos. .177 .22 and .25 airguns are very capable of putting down big game, from bucks and hogs up to .50 airguns putting an elk down in its tracks. If the projectile is moving fast enough, dispite it's form of propulsion, they can be as/if not more deadly than powder. These aren't your walmart red riders. Some of these airguns can haul ass.

I love to shoot my guns but I'm respectful of wildlife and taught my kids to be too but I have to admit that when I was 8 or 9 I had a Daisy BB rifle and I did take out a few birds but when dad found out he wore me out and put the gun up and I never saw it again. Today I'm 64 and love to plink and bullseye and with the technology and fire power of modern air guns it's just as much fun today as it was way back in the day. Hi, Man. I really like your channel. Actually, I liked the tests you just performed onto caliber .177". The reason being is that I grew up (since I was 13 years old), shooting air rifles caliber .177". I currently hold three air rifles caliber .22" and two caliber .177". By the way, I would like to purchase a .30" caliber air rifle for personnel defense at home, since in México it´s kind of difficult to carry firearms out of home. I would appreciate your recommendations in regards of acquiring a .30" air rifle" caliber. Best regards.

I wouldn't try to duplicate this, but a lot of people still think of a lever action Daisy BB gun when you say airgun. There are plenty of small caliber airguns that have as high or higher muzzle velocities as a .22. Heck there are large caliber ones with just about as high velocities that can easily take bigger game at ranges you'd expect to use cartridge rifle for. Hearing one of those fire with the sonic *crack* from the slug (I won't even call it a pellet at that point) is pretty darn impressive.

Air rifles are legal for deer hunting in North Carolina, where the state regs allow "ANY" rifled device (not machine guns) to hunt deer. It does NOT require a minimum caliber, and the device does NOT have be a firearm. It just has to be rifled. One exception is the airbow, which for hunting purposes North Carolina considers a rifle. So yes, you can legally hunt deer here with a .177 air rifle. Perfectly legal.

I have been a gun enthusiast for years and I am also an Army veteran (MP). I have fired just about every type of pistol and rifle. When I had kids, I sold off my guns and just over the last 10 years, I started buying air pistols and rifles. BB pistols aren't that powerful. Most of them fire at around 300-350 fps using CO2 carts. Will barely cause a bruise and might break the skin. BUT....When you get into rifles, it's a whole different world. Pellet rifles range from 500-750 fps. Some, can even go up to 1200-1500 fps. That's about the same speed as a 9mm or .22 round. I have a Crosman M4 .177 that if fully pumped could easily take down an animal or even a person. I fired a pellet at 5 pieces of sheet rock, leaned against each other and went through those and embedded in plywood. Air guns, in general, should NEVER be underestimated. Under certain conditions, they can be as deadly as a firearm.

Yeap 100% in agreement, I would not hunt anything bigger than a jack rabbit with a airgun. You need more weight and velocity to penetrated to any vital organs. A .177 does not meet that. I have friends in S.America that hunt bigger animals but they are using .25 or 30 cal air pellets. My little gamo whisper and goldflite can't even penetrate a tire side-cut out nor a block of gel more than 2.5" inches. @@Templar-jj3ig I agree. They're super powerful, and I wouldn't want to be hit by one either. But a .177 or .22 or even a .25 caliber pellet shot from a break barrel air rifle would have to be such a perfect freak accident where the pellet passes between the rib bones and both lungs of a mule deer. I seen a small white tail doe, under 120 pounds, taken at 25 yards with a .357 cal 145 gr pellet shot from a Benjamin Bulldog. The pellet did pass through both lungs but not the hide. It wound up in the side of the deer's neck at the hide. That was a 145 grains of pellet shot from one of, if not thee, most powerful .357 air rifles on the planet. All I'm saying is that assuming this small caliber pellet was shot from a break barrel air rifle rather than a precharged air rifle or a rimfire .17 hmr is 'jumping the gun' so to speak. 🤠

Hi Amit. The power (energy) of a bullet depends on ONLY 2 things!... The weight of the bullet and the velocity at which it travels! The mere fact that a bullet spins can't give the bullet more energy!!! a Rifled barrel don't give more power to the projectile that you shoot, it just stabilizes the projectile (which increases accuracy). a Round projectile don't have to spin to be stable in flight since it is round, therefore all side same side... However a biablo pellet is shaped such that all side is not same side... a TUMBLING (head over heels) diablo pellet will not fly straight while a tumbling round ball will still fly straight... Also a diablo pellet tumbling head over heels will have MUCH MORE wind resistance than a round ball, therefore the diablo will loose its velocity more rapidly! Downrange the round ball will eventually have higher velocity (remaining) than the diablo, therefore the energy of the round ball will eventually become more than that of the diablo. However since the diablo spins (which stabilizes it) this don't happen. It is really a pity that you are not allowed to use rifled barrels, since that gives you a larger choice of projectiles to use! I believe the best you can do is to shoot ROUND LEAD 4,5 mm (. 177) bullets since they don't need to spin in order to fly stable! You can shoot steel BB's as well. Steel BB's will be faster and have a flatter trajectory than lead BB's but lead BB's (since they are heavier) will have more energy!... Get both steel BB's and lead BB's... Lead BB's will also be less affected by wind than steel BB's... Get both (lead and steel) and decide which one to use depending on the circumstances! To shoot a small bird or a rat (for instance) at short distance while there is not much wind, use a steel BB... To shoot something larger/tougher (maybe over a longer distance), use a lead BB... Most important, know the capability of you and your gun and don't take a shot when you are not comfortable to take that shot!!!

The first air rifle I seen that worked out gas years ago boy told me it would kill a deer told him no way in hell we was doing some conservation work and we'd go around at night and harvest some doe he had the BB pellet rifle and I laughed for me harvest about four that night then on the way in he said see that deer out there in the field and I said yes he said I'm going to shoot it with a pellet rifle and show you so I set up with the big rifle just in case he hit it it wouldn't suffer he shot and it folded up so yes be very careful with pellet rifles I could only imagine what the new ones will do

I own a Crosman Quest NP Elite SBD Air Rifle Which fires at 1400 fps and when you shoot Heavy 15+ grain bullets out from that gun like the Rabbit Magnum II, which is 15,74 grains heavy, there isnt really any chance for any human or prey so survive a well placed shot, the pure power of velocity goes through even thick wood

Bro...that rifle is pushing those 15gr at 800fps lol at best
@saramorin4792
@saramorin4792 3 жыл бұрын
@@nicedward7544 Yes its the power that the rifle is firing at, of course the velocity is different for all the different sizes of pellets and bullets, heavy ones are good for the powerful rifle since they wont drop or fly in random places as in with more lighter ones but yes, lighter ones do fire a lot faster but you need to think of what you want to achieve with the rifle, I own a lot of different pellets for the rifle and for my other one as well.

@@nicedward7544 Also the Rifle is potentially dangerous up to 650 yards and yes it does kick really similarly as you would feel in an AR, personally i dont feel the difference between the guns even when shooting both of them at same time at the range.
@nicedward7544
@nicedward7544 3 жыл бұрын
@@saramorin4792 I'm just saying that 1400fps is probably with a 7gr alloy pellet or lighter. Pellets aren't accurate at all past 1000fps. People in competitions are sending them 850 to 900 at 100 yards. 25 and under even slower. 10m guys doing 5-600
@saramorin4792
@saramorin4792 3 жыл бұрын
@@nicedward7544 I can just add that in most cases that Air Guns have been used against humans and they have been killed it has been about point blank so there is no need for accuracy, honestly doesnt even matter what kind of pellet you are sending to someone if its a rifle that packs a punch, no one is going to walk from that.

Surprised you are shooting just over 12flb, thought you would be shooting about 16 in the US. I dont care how powerful your airgun .177 is not a suitable calibre for anything over small pest size and definitely not a deer

@@tonydavisbusiness Rock, because it has about the same chance of a kill but with an actual chance of reload. Pellets on the other hand are valuable in that situation so don't waste them on something which will most likely just run away.

Hunter 10 safety comes with HANDLING arms, not with hunting!!! Before you are not fimiliar with arms and not able to use arms safely, you should not even consider to go hunting!... Before you can go hunting you must train (a lot) and safety is part of training!

I'd first attend a hunting safety class, which here you must do if you was born after 1980.anyways, cause you can't get a hunting license without it. Secondly as stated above.. practice, practice, practice.. as for the pellets, if they are lead, you need to treat it as such . Don't eat them, and I think there's a warning now on them saying you need to wash your hands after use..
