I'm normally a quiet old gal, but I wanted to tell you that the practice test you did was very helpful. At my age, you begin to wise up and recognize good people. You are one of them. You explain it so thoroughly and with a kind and happy heart. I enjoyed this video Immensely!!! I'll have paints ordered by the end of the month. Happy Painting Jodi☺

Love “mad scientist” Jodi🥰!! You are to courageous and I’m grateful you let us come along for the ride. You stayed so perky through the whole “not giving me the cells I want” I would have swearing up a storm and there may have also been some throwing of records out the door if I had been running these tests. You are persistent that’s for sure and that’s what makes you such a good artist. You do not give up come hell or high water…. or no cells that’s for sure. Thank you for showing us how you work hugs as always D

Aww haha! Thank you so much my friend! This was a fun experiment and just proves a couple things to me, both the Amsterdam paint and the AUS floetrol are magic and from another planet 🤣. 😃 I’m so glad you enjoyed it Lissanne 😃 I kept hoping I would see some bubble cells come out and eventually some appeared but not like I hoped. It’s so interesting that some paints work better than others. But that’s also the case with the Aussie floetrol too (a bit more rare but there are a few). I’m glad this helped!! 💜💜

You’re welcome Dublin and thank YOU! 🤗 I agree about the consistency part for sure depending on what you are using and I do have on my list to test just Amsterdam paint & water. There’s just something about that paint though! I have tested a thicker ratio of Amsterdam oxide black with Aussie floetrol and it works just as well so the theory of being thinner may not apply with Aussie floetrol and certain paints. So interesting! 😃🤗💜

Hi Jodie. Funny I should find this new video, just when my AUF gets sent back. I spent all day yesterday using Am paints, USF experimenting, again, because I'm now using the bloom recipe for everything I do where my previous experiments were with glue and USF PM.. Funny, our test results were almost the same (way amazing to me). You did get a little better reaction with the white than I did, but nothing to really get excited about. I used AM oxide, red, titW and a local professional prussian blue, and Liquitex dioxine purple. In the end, I had to do the minwax mix to get anything usable, but the blue, purple, and black worked the best. Still not good for blooms. I added silicone and did get a better reaction, but haven't decided if I'll continue with it. I'm still mad as heck!! By the way, I took all day to do almost the same experiments as you, and you got yours done in under 40 minutes. Very impressive🤣😂. Thanks for all your help Jodie, You do a lot for everyone. I guess you're not in this for the money😝😂. See at your next video🤗❤

Ugh I’m still so sorry your floetrol got sent back that just stinks! I do have on my list for this year to experiment with non floetrol ingredients to make a cell activator for those that can’t get either floetrol. The US still works pretty good once you get it just how you want it. Does take some tweaking and persistence at first. That video took probably a couple hours but I had to edit it to be viewable so don’t feel bad. I still think Amsterdam paint is the best with US floetrol. Have you tried just Amsterdam paint and water? I haven’t yet but I’ve heard others have. That’s on my list too 😉🤗💜

@@ThePaintedDreamer hahaha, that's on my list for tomorrow. I hate days I have to clean the house or shop. That's the last one I can think of to try, other than fool around with the others. I have a studio full of CA that doesn't work, so I'll just keep looking for ways to make it. My prussian blue was one of the best, so I'm going to try a couple more from that brand, since it's professional and see.🥰🤗

So yesterday I went to the grocery store and when I came out there was a paper bag that looked full of something sitting on the ground against the cart return near the front of my car and I was curious what was in it so I went and looked and it was full of old records. Jodi, Thank you for all your experiments!! I've learned so much from watching you! I'm having a problem with cracking when I use PPG Multi-Pro as a base. I know it's drying slower than the top. I spin as much as I can, but it stops moving, so I can't get more off. Do you think it would help to thin the base coat a little? What would you suggest I try? Thanks!!!!
@ThePaintedDreamer

You’re very welcome Sherry, I’m glad I’m able to help! 🤗 For the cracking it could also be your color paint consistencies in relation to your pillow if they are a bit thicker since it sounds like you are taking enough paint off. Maybe also try adding a little GAC 800 or in a pinch US floetrol to your pillow to thin it just a little and see if that helps any. Hope this helps! 💜💜

I started to paint a few years ago but lost interest when Spring came. I'm somewhat familiar with the frutrol and paint, but the Australian is unknown to me. This was around the time it was getting quite popular on U-tube. I have started watching you and you have a great eye for color. What's the difference in them ( flutrols)?
@ThePaintedDreamer
@ThePaintedDreamer 2 жыл бұрын
The US floetrol and Australian floetrol while both made by Flood are made a little different due to the restrictions of ingredients in their respective countries so for cell activator purposes react a little differently. The Australian floetrol is sometimes called the magic sauce as it just cells up super easy. The US floetrol can too it just needs a bit more finagling and a few additional ingredients however I have gotten it to work at higher ratios of floetrol to Amsterdam paint. As a pouring medium they probably work pretty similar, I’ve only used the US for PM though but others use the Australian as PM and it seems to work equally as well. But since it’s so expensive for us to get here in the US I use the Australian strictly for cell activator. Hope this helps Linda! 💜

I think she was testing the Atelier with the US Floetrol because it had already done well with the Aussie Floetrol. Maybe she will test the others you mentioned as well sometime though. 😃 The Atelier I've wondered about though because of the interactive aspect that you can use when doing regular paintings. 🤔 I wonder what difference that makes with pouring and whether it is still interactive after it dries after being mixed with the other ingredients. I haven't watched until the end though so maybe she mentions this later. 🤔
@ThePaintedDreamer

That’s a great question, there’s just something about that Amsterdam paint I think but I’ll test other paints along the way I just had this atelier on my mind because I have been loving it so much with the Australian floetrol I wanted to see how well it might work with the US floetrol. Even with the Australian floetrol there are still certain paints (even colors within a brand) that just don’t work well so I found it interesting that the white and the blue started to work pretty well but the black and the gold, not so much. 🤗

Both, when using the US floetrol I’m finding. Some colors work better than others like with this experiment with the atelier the blue and the white seemed to work the best. @ThePaintedDreamer
@ThePaintedDreamer 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure I can accurately answer that, some days it could be a 2, others a 3 and sometimes even 4 which is why I try to show the consistency of my paints at the beyond each video. Your consistencies don’t have to be exact there’s a range you can work with and it also depends on the environment you’re in. I’ve totally had my piece fly off the spinner, put some paint down on the dry spinner and then affix your piece to it. As you start spinning and the paint is flowing down it’ll stay put 🤗

awww, dang, thought this was an awesome experiment!, but i thought i would of been super awesome if you were able to use another separate canvas so you could have an "after-dried", and more of in-depth and thorough, side-by-side comparison......i think one of the biggest questions i ask is how and why it reacts the way it does by adding +/- wood conditioner, and glue, this is absolutely amazing experiment. but dang, how much of an educational reference value would it be to do a magnified examination! lol, maybe not that crazy but u know what im shayin!? ....haha, regardless thank you! i still got tons of value fr0m the video the way it is. :)

I’m glad you enjoyed and you got value from it 🤗 that’s pretty much how I experiment either off or on camera. I don’t really know the technical or chemical reasons the wood conditioner and glue work (glue is a type of binder I do know that) but it does and it works even better with Amsterdam paint. For some reason that paint is just magic whatever it’s made of, works really well with both floetrols, different mediums and with just water. 😊

Jodie…I listened to a video from a man whose name I cannot remember. He has done much pouring art. I don’t know if adding a little water to USF would make a difference. Seems too simple.
@ThePaintedDreamer
@ThePaintedDreamer 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda, well it is true that the Aussie floetrol is thinner than the US floetrol but the makeup of each floetrol is different as well due to the availability and restrictions on ingredients in each country. I did have to make it thinner here to get it to work better so you are on to something 😉. You do want to get the US floetrol thinner for sure I’m going to test your theory when I’m able, adding some water to the US floetrol and then go from there to see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion 🤗💜

Omg JODIE lol I've got sooo much to say and ask and thoughts on this video you really had an amazing video today I'm seriously about to watch it again and pause between each piece to make my comments just so it makes sense so you are going to have a bunch to read from me I hope that's cool but I had a lot of thoughts and curiousities in each piece that you did. I just LOVE the testing videos I swear I wish you would do a testing Tuesday atleast once a month just because I love them so much and theirs a million things you could do lol you know I'm your biggest fan just can't get enough!! Now it might take you 3 weeks to read this but before I start rewatching and reposting I'm curious about the water based minwax pre-stain and how it would react with American floetrol alone since Aussie floetrol is water based stain and paint conditioner and American floetrol is just paint conditioner I bet the mix if you found the right ratio would work exactly the same as Aussie floetrol. Let me know if you have tested it before please now off to start my list 😂
@cwv-artistry
@cwv-artistry 2 жыл бұрын
Okay 1st piece absolutely no reaction without the pre-stain but I noticed something, in the areas where you first started your swipe that got the most cell activator is the only areas where you got good cell response so I'm curious if you was to put your cell activator on really thick if you would get better cell response? I'm still curious about the American floetrol by itself if you were to go both ways try it thicker than try it thinner because we know atelier works great in Aussie floetrol so I think it's something to be said about the thickness of the paint itself but seeing as more of the cell activator is causing better cells I think that means it needs more paint in order to create those cells. Ok that's it on the first piece on to the next 😂
@cwv-artistry
@cwv-artistry 2 жыл бұрын
#2 again the areas that got the most cell activator seemed to react the best except with that white idk if maybe you put it on a bit thicker on your pallet knife but it had great cells all the way down and since thinning it seemed to help so much I'm curious if you used a 4:1 like you would with Aussie with the American floetrol and just thinned it with water if you would be able to get it to react without the minwax??
@ThePaintedDreamer
@ThePaintedDreamer 2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Girl you wouldn’t be you if you didn’t have a lot in your head about this 😉. I really need to get some water based Minwax Prestain to test it, I’ve not tried it yet but adding it to my list (you don’t want to know how many categories of lists I have 🤣)
@ThePaintedDreamer
@ThePaintedDreamer 2 жыл бұрын
I see what you’re saying about the thicker paint but I kind of have to disagree only because the thinner I made the mixture the better it responded (even if it wasn’t the cells we were looking for). And then it was only the blue and the white that black and gold just fizzled out and that can happen. Not all paints work as CA with either floetrol some just suck period lol I found a few that suck with the Aussie floetrol even 🤣, but it’s rare. But having said that I think you’re in the right direction about maybe just more CA needs to be added because at the beginning of the swipe it responds more than at the end of it because there is less CA on at that point, if that makes sense.

Sadly my phone died and I didn't get a chance to come back and finish what I started lol the chemistry of it really excites me too I see that same sparkle in your eye I get when I see something new that I can deconstruct and rebuild in my very own way and if it doesn't work out I start thinking of what I can do to make it work lol I just want so badly to see that american floetrol react with the A.I. paint without prestain involved but I do see your point about the thinner consistency being better that's why I suggested 1 part paint 4 parts am flo and 6 parts water because I think it would create that thinner consistency without the glue or prestain lol I just can't help myself I'm sitting here thinking about which of these heavy body paints I can pull out to try the mixture myself but I don't have any A.I. paint yet. 2:1 Behr 3300/poly seems about right but how does it feel to you is it too thick or thin. I don’t have a ratio for paint to PM you need to look at your consistencies is it running off the stick smoothly or is it gloopy. There is not perfect recipe, you need to experiment with that you have and fine tune as you go. Amsterdam paint will work in your favor as that works really well with the US floetrol for cell activator. Start practicing and tweak as you go but also remember to have fun because this is what it’s all about 😊
