Lots of similar material out my way (AZ; have a turkey roaster load of similar working material cooling down now!); most of the finer chalcedonies/agates & jaspers out west slick up very well in heat treating. Many raw stones are already "heat-treated" by frequent range fires as well. Small quartz geodes are common, and one gets used to working around them. Interestingly, there is a dark & dark-green "camo" patterned material that shows up (along with some other cherts, agates, and fossil corals) along the Colorado River in AZ that looks/knaps pretty similar to that (prehistoric Yumans knapped it extensively).

That white looks like a quartz inclusion obsidian usually is good but sometimes there could be inclusions I think. (Emphasis on I think I’m not a geologist I just saw someone else nap and run into some) Or I could be wrong and some sand got into it
