"The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.
If you are new to my channel, I strongly recommend reading the description under the “about” tab, which will provide a clearer understanding of what to expect in my films: / solitaryrambler
There is also a short “Introduction to the Solitary Rambler” video, which briefly explains what my films are all about: / solitaryrambler

Hi Patrick,Thank you again for a lovely video Millers Dale was a place we never visited, it was great to see the viaducts and the magnificent victorian engineering , its a good job you was not holding the camara when you slipped down, you don't want many falls like that as you will be ending up like Jean having a knee replacement. Wishing you all the best, from Dave & Jean

Morning Dave and Jean, glad you enjoyed the video. Millers Dale viaducts are great aren't they. Thankfully I don't slip too often, but I guess that goes with the territory of the great outdoors. Thanks for watching, all the best 👍

A most excellent presentation, Patrick. Seeing Millers Dale takes me back to when I was a youngster, seeing the trains going through, it was just simply a busy line and easy to get to London St Pancras, too. The village used to have a pub just down the road from the station. It closed many years ago. Wormhill is a lovely little village, and that church is so unique with its unusual tower. The village did have a pub called The Bagshaw Arms, again that closed many decades ago. Monks Dale seems a great place to visit, as well. Many thanks for this video and the great music accompanying it.

What a lovely walk and I especially enjoyed seeing those absolutely magnificent viaducts; hats off to the Victorian and Edwardian engineers and the brave souls who constructed them. Look at the featureless bridges we construct these days and it puts into perspective just how amazing they are. Thanks for your effort Patrick and I had to snigger when you slipped over at the end. Hopefully only your pride was hurt lol.

Not heard of Millers Dale. Another new area for me but looks a lovely. I have heard of the Monsall Trail though. Good job you have head for heights on the viaducts. Quite a lot of history attached to the area. Nice arpeggio piano and guitar arrangements. P.S. that fall at the end had my heart in my mouth!- a self prophesy! Well done !

Thanks Shanita, yes it's very high when you look down from those viaducts, but worth seeing all the same. I love the remnants of history seen around Millers Dales. Pleased you enjoyed the piano and guitar score. Had to share that outtake at the end, it looked worse than it felt too! 👍😂

Hi Patrick. A really lovely route. I'd never seen Wormhill church either, will have to pop in next time I'm in the area. Monk's Dale is so beautiful, but those slippery rocks are real ankle breakers aren't they? Nice to see some water flowing, as it was bone dry last time we walked it! All the best and take care 👍😊

Evening Des, yes the church at Wormhill is very well hidden, certainly worth a look if you're up that way again. I've never enjoyed walking through Monk's Dale to be honest because of the rocks, fallen trees, etc, but it is indeed beautiful. It was good to see the water there too. Thanks for watching Des and all the best 👍😊

Where that bloke be going with that tripod and camera. Me thinks he be up to no good. Some people do make me laugh. Lovely walk and the countryside has that autumnal look. Hope you got your cup of tea, it was well deserved. I adore your walks and it takes me back. As a youngster i would go with my parents to the buxton area for picnics. Back then it seemed the sun always shone and days were long. Now however time flies. Wonderful video as always and great fall at the end 😆😆😆 Cheers Patrick

My thoughts exactly Kelly! I can appreciate people wondering what's going on when they see me with a camera and tripod, but it's the fact that they often seem suspicious about it. I just have to get on with it really. Yes I love filming this time of year to capture those autumn colours. Pleased you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching as always, and I'm glad you liked my stunt at the end! 👍😆
