All my friends are extroverts who love big parties and doing big events, and I'm the total opposite. I have one tradition which is to eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then do one chill thing like get my hair done or see a movie, and I'm good. It's hard sometimes to celebrate with other people because they're always like, "that's it?!?" "Don't you want to do more?!?" and I'm like, no, this is my idea of perfect.

When I was in my 20’s, I got a Costco shopping spree every year for my birthday. I would by toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, garbage bags, and anything else I wanted. By the time I used up everything it was time for my next birthday. It was a great present for a practical person.

Halie might be interested in checking out learning to do actual pottery. It is so relaxing and fun. Many of the community colleges have programs in their Continuing Ed classes, for non-credit classes. They also have credited classes. Making pottery on the wheel and also hand building puts me in my Zen place. It is so much fun! If you can not find it at a college, many artists offer classes from their studio.

Halie is so calm I love it 🥺🥺 see if I had that 18 minutes I’d be screaming & running like a mad idiot 🤣🤣

The best advise I can give for parents that have lil adults is to teach them proper stress management. People talk about teaching their kids how to cook, clean, do laundry but I feel the most important task is stress management and how to process stressful situations. That way when (and I say when because it will come) situations come they will know everything will be ok and how to deal with it.

I am so thankful you were able to tell your parents what wad going on because I didn't know how to tell my patients because I didn't know what it was. Now that I will be 42 years old I know what it is and I am getting better every day. But you even at 18 years old are an inspiration to me and you help me remember to always check in on my kids. Halie, as someone who has anxiety and depression. I recommend the switch game, animal crossing! I got it right as the pandemic started and it definitely helped my mental health. I loved taking my mind off of things and building my island(I still do 2 years later).

You seriously have the best kids. Halie has always been my favorite though because I just see something really special in her and I can relate to some of the things she has dealt with. I hope she had an amazing 18th birthday.

i did 21 gifts for my son when he turned 21. put up a poster with all the numbers from 1-21 and he picked one each day for 21 days. BOY was it hard no matter how well you know your kid I started in April buying things and his birthday was in August. out of the 21 gifts he loved 19 so I think I did pretty good. One he had already vans slip ons and he didn't feel like breaking in another pair cause the first gave him blisters and a silly musical instrument of a shaker egg. He and his friends online play weird instruments so I added to his collection but he was kinda laughing, he absolutely LOVED the game each day of picking a gift and unwrapping them. :)
