Why are people over complicating hiring? If you need to conduct a group session on why you are hiring someone then you probably shouldn't be hiring anyone. With this system you are hyper-typecasting a role for a very specific agenda, which is destined to change over the course of a year, and should evolve as industries, trends, software, work environments change anyway. The evidence is in their professional portfolio and reference contacts. If you can't call their previous or current employer then the candidate is sneaking around behind their back and will do the same to you. If they don't keep a work portfolio then they are not intensely passionate about presenting their body of work in an organized storyline, and are asking for you to take a chance. It's that simple. And if you can't get a good sense if the candidate will be a good fit with your company in one face-to-face interview (Including virtual face-to-face), then you need to work on your "people skills" as an employer.
