Join me as I haul a load of wood with the 1923 Ford Model T that has been in my family for over 70 years. I haul wood and look back at the many good memories shared with my Dad before he passed away.

That's so awesome, Robert. I watched a show about Rt. 30, (the Lincoln Highway) last night, the first coast to coast route. This old stuff never gets old to me, I love history and old machinery like this...Cheers bro!

Well hello Gear Drive! Happy to have a visitor from Michigan, where Model T's were made! Actually they were made other places as well, this one was made in Canada! Still Michigan is where it all started! I am doing the best I can, with the tools I have, I really appreciate the comment, your subscribing, and just taking the time to watch, Thank you!

@@dryrockstudios3231 Yes would your Fords have all been built in Walkerville ON? That's just across the Detroit river from us now just absorbed into and part of Windsor ON. The Walkerville plant was built in 1903 or 04 from the McGregor Wagon Works to avoid tariffs even before the model T's started As Ford Of Canada. They must have built Fordsons there also for the same reason? I don't think the Oakville ON Ford plant came until the 1950's? In my opinion Henry Ford was one of the greatest men that ever lived. All of my family worked in the auto industry and farmed. This was very common to work at a factory in Michigan and also farm from about 1905 until about 2010. The factories replaced the timber business in Michigan as a second source of income for farmers. My dads dad was your dads age 1928-2014 and worked at the drop forge at Oldsmobile in Lansing and my moms dad worked as a painter at Fisher Body in Lansing.

So I think the Canadian A's as well as the T's were built in Walkerville. But I believe the Fordson tractors were all built in the US, as well as at a plant in Ireland. Henry was definitely a visionary and an innovator, his ideas changed the world, and yes I think he was one of the greats. He also seemed to go the way of Howard Hughes as he got older and wealthier. They say money and power corrupts and I think we usually take that in a financial sense, but perhaps with some, such as Henry, it corrupted his thinking. Everything you can read about the man points to a very complex and interesting individual.

Very nice video, Mr. Merz. How can a such small engine, by so low revolutions, do this pretty havy job? And how can you maintain an old rig going for so many dacades? Thank you for sharing these nice memories. Greetings from Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil.

Thank you Bruno from Southern Brazil. Horsepower is just force multiplied by time, Less horsepower requires more time to apply equal force, so lots of gear reduction equals heavy load is moved. Okay I know there is something wrong with that math, but I think you get the idea! The Model T's 20 horse engine just needs more time to do the job of a more powerful machine! As to maintaining, it is a fairly simple machine, and I tried to pick up a few tips on how to from my Dad! Hey thanks for watching, and leaving a comment, I really appreciate it. And return greetings from central British Columbia.

Hey Bob, didn't you have another channel? I remember watching these videos before, years ago. I'm not complaining though, I love the videos. Do you still own the old farm with all your Father's tractors and equipment? Your Father was really a hard working, smart, great man!!

Yes I did have another channel, and still do. About 4 years ago it took a real nosedive in popularity, long story short the "algorithm". Apparently it was too diverse for YT to market. So I have separated the subject matter and am slowly transferring some of my content to this channel, and seeing a very good response, I guess I should have done it awhile ago! Now the 2 channels can each have their own focus. In the future there will be new content as well at least that is my plan, and the good lord willing! I never did have even the opportunity to own my Dad's place, apparently greed and jealousy rearing its ugly head is not that uncommon in families when there is an estate to settle. I did however manage to save most of the things my Dad and I had collected and created many good memories with, and I am doing the best I can with them, trying alone to honour his wishes. Thank you for the king words about my Father, all very true! And thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it!

As you seem familiar with T's you already know that a T engine has to have a T transmission attached to run, if for no other reason then to circulate the oil. In addition to the factory T 2 speed there is a 3 speed Muncie and a 2 speed Ruckstell 1 ton rear end.
