Hello, lovelies, I was randomly looking for vintage cosmetics on eBay, and I stumbled upon this vintage 1930s cosmetic haul. I love looking at all the vintage packaging from all of the different decades, and the 1930s does not disappoint. All of the packagings reflects the design trends of the decade. Everything has clean minimal lines with an art deco inspiration. I noticed a lot of silver and black lids on the of the cosmetics which seemed consistent in most of the packaging. I also noticed the women's face on the cold cream and the shampoo resembled the typical makeup style from that decade with thin eyebrows. I would love to see if I can find another vintage time capsule collection on eBay to share with you.

Max Factor is the King of all things Makeup. Revolutionary. I'm saddene that no one carries his products in the US. Only in Europe mainly UK. That sucks because the Pan Stick Foundation, and 2000 Calorie Mascara were two holy grails of mine since age 19 years old. Miss those products.

Marjorie Margel why are you using the past tense?? Eau de toilette is usually the cheapest version, lots of celebrity fragrances are eau de toilette and more high end fragrances are eau de parfum. At least in the UK this is the system for both perfumes (for women) and aftershaves (for men)

I have a small treasure. A gold Coty rouge compact from 1945. My father gave it to my mother. In 1960 when I was 5 I found it in a shed. When I was 13 my mother saw it in my drawer and was shocked to see it once more thinking it was garbage long ago. I am now 64 and I still have it. Thank you for sharing your purchases with us. I also can’t get over your books. Your Sharon Tate book was also beautiful.

ritaroad I’m now in my late Sixties(yikes!) I remember Coty was a major makeup brand sold in all the big department stores all through the late Sixties. Wouldn’t be interesting to do a video on those old makeup companies histories with what they used to sell, and if they are still in business today? Good idea?

This made me so emotional. My grandma had those push up lipsticks and she kept some in a little pouch in her drawers. One day she took me aside and showed me them ( I was around 12) and she said that her mother gave her those when she was a teenager. Now she's gone but I'll always remember her Scarlett lips and amazing stories.

before the 20s, makeup wasn’t really seen as something to enhance your beauty. People who wore (visible) makeup were called painted ladies and i’m sure you can imagine what that refers to... Your usual woman didn’t really wear any makeup and if she did, it probably would’ve been homemade. Makeup from before the 20s is therefor very hard to find.

HI Laura :) I loved watching your vintage makeup haul. The May Company was Meier and Frank down here in Portland, Oregon. Meier and Frank was bought out by Macy's. They used to have a really nice Meier and Frank store downtown for years, it closed about ten years ago. I loved it was very old-timey with the old wooden display cases. Clark Gable even worked there before he became famous. I love the Art Deco 1930s lipstick cases. I wish they would reproduce the cases because I would buy them. I love your videos :) Have a nice day Laura! Becki

Hi brings back my mums memory 1965 the lipstick with the little lift attached she had always red as her icon was marilyn monroe and my mum had a little mole just like hers where she use to dab it with a dark brown pencil. Loved watching her get made up. She had the red lippy but in those days it was a drier matt not moisturized as now adays. She also used a puff powder no foundation and no mascara. Always perfume always her omega watch with a black leather strap. Her shoes matched her bag always.

I absolutely love, Love your videos! I It’s funny....I’ve loved make up since I was about 7 or 8 years old & I would wear my moms liquid foundation, “to school” & no one said a word! But it’s funny, the young people these days have no clue as to anything you show on your videos! My sons girlfriend is in her 40’s & has never seen or heard of any of the products you have! I’m a collector of Ladies Vintage Compacts, Carry-All’s, evening bags & purses! Even friends my age don’t know about my vintage compacts! The packaging in those days were always so beautiful, even if it was just the name of the product, they were a work of art or Art Deco! I haven’t bought any compacts in a while but since watching your videos I’ve been looking at them on EBay & I’m getting my collection out & cleaning & polishing them! I have a lot of silver plate compacts that I clean & polish, then I keep them in small plastic zip-lock bags so they don’t tarnish as fast! I even found one of my compacts that still has a tiny note in it from the manufacturer that states refills for the rouge can be purchased for 25 cents in any shade & a powder puff for 10 cents! I do remove all the rouge from the little pans because it usually smells bad & I also get rid of the powder if it smells bad to so most of mine are empty! Although I have one that has never been used, it still has the raised imprint on the rouge! I really love the older compacts with the powder sifters in them! I only have 3 of them! Where do you find all your vintage containers etc? You’ve gotten me in the mood to start collecting again! Thank you for your lovely videos & for your appreciation of the beautiful things that are no more!

Laura your site is awesome. I use to work in a cosmetics store and we used to sell alexandra de markoff cosmetics. I used to wear it but unfortunately it's hard to get it nowadays. I would love to see you feature it on your site one day.

My dad had an old jar of Three Flowers (except now I think it is made in Mexico and called Tres Flores) and the label looks kinda the same except now the jar is plastic. It is a pomade/brilliantine, so yes like gel except it is greasier, more like the texture of Vaseline. I cant describe the scent really, just sort of like deodorant soap

What a haul! Love how the figures on some of the labels reflect the fashion/make-up of the 30s. Also I love the music used in your vids... was wondering where the one in this vid is from?

I remember seeing “three flowers” or as I’m more familiar “tres flores”, in the medicine cabinet as a girl. The May Co used to be a department store here in California - I think it’s only been gone for maybe 15 years or so 🤔

My grandmother died in the 60s in her late 40s i believe (breast cancer. My mom was 13) and she owned a slide up, refillable lipstick with a hinged mirror as part of the case. My mom remembers her using it so i imagine it was still a thing in the 50s and 60s (my mom being born mid 50s)

This was a wonderful video. Especially the page in the book that had the lockwood premier powder since that’s my married name. Have you ever thought of doing a video about vintage men’s products back in the day? I’m sure it wouldn’t be a very long video; mostly probably shaving cream and hair pomade but I just be curious to see.🤔

The Three Flowers brilliantine is still made today and carried in grocery stores. My dad used to use it on his hair. :-)

In Mexico they still sell The 3 flowers cream. A lot of men use it for there hair. And the packaging still looks the same, now it's in a plastic container.

Three flowers is like a hair pomade for men. When I was in middle school all the boys used to wear it! It has like the smell of men’s cologne.
