This Oliver OC46-3G crawler had its head gasket replaced and some other work done, then it was stored in a barn for 13 years. The coolant is low and the oil is high. The owner is concerned the head gasket repair has failed. Let's see what we can do!

Used to be loads of little crawlers like this in the UK on most farms . Mostly all scrapped now which is a pity as they make great wee projects that are different from the usual Fergie T10s and 35s. I love this content too for something different but the car stuff is really interesting , especially the fault finding . 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I have an earlier model of this tractor. It has a 4 cylinder flathead Hercules engine, but other than that and the dashboard, it’s pretty much identical. It’s a pretty easy machine to work on. You can have the final drives off in an hour or two. Ours has a dozer blade on the front. Good machine that’s worth fixing for sure. It will pull until it digs a rut a foot deep in hard ground.

I too have two of these old machines, one OC-3 early 50's the other is a 1960 OC-4. the 4 is a basket case now with final drive issues. the 3 did run and drive but now no. been sitting to long. and I am way to disabled to work on it any longer. so If someone want to buy these I will sell. thanks for this video brings back memories.

My father bought the same model crawler with a doser blade. His had a shuttle shift trans between the clutch and trans. He rebuilt the engine, lots of torque. My brother still has the machine. The small track rollers had Acme flat head grease fittings. They took 90 weight oil and were changed over to grease. HE made track pins and replaced them. It has done a lot of work since. That is a familiar sound. Thanks

Fairly easy to work on. Check on the sprockets. I've seen some where people slotted the sprockets. Then all you do pull is the small cover off the outside final cover. Just pull the axle on both sides then the center comes right out. If not you have to split tracks and pull the sprocket off. Even on these things everything fairly heavy. Have fun. I have couple of these things. Really strong machines and reliable. Wish some of the new stuff would be as reliable. Only down fall the 3 cylinder motor is strong but finding rod bearings are not readily available except through one person. Have fun. Neat info. This is one of the few machines ever tested that will almost pull 100 percent of it's own weight. That's saying alot.

It has gone past its usefulness so unless you slow it down, I would put a brush hog behind it and go for it as it is so fast that it beats all the competition for travel. i really enjoy the "back to the basics" testing you always put into your projects. Its the best troubleshooting method you can use fine the issues right away. "Spark, Fuel & Air". Another great video! Keep them coming!

I absolutely love that trailer deck! I wish that I had a trailer deck like that along with that wide, two axle trailer that even has a spare tire that I bet is full of air!

I know jack-sh*t about these things, but that rearend reminds me of, basically, a non-posi diff with two independently actuated brake pads. Looks like the left-side pad is barely moving in comparison to the right. It also looks (maybe) like someone welded on the adjuster nut. When you pull the lever, it's not clamping down enough to transfer power.

The brakes are not the issue. At least I don't think so. You can hear it pull the engine down when I pull the brake lever.

@@WatchWesWork Seems like the old Case 310 crawlers were like that with maybe a tractor rear end with individual steering brakes.

@@WatchWesWork the discs are worn in the spot turn unit. If it had planetary drive you wouldn't have that. About all loaders had spot turn for maneuverability. Farm machines had planetary system which put full power to both tracks without any clutches.
