It's GREAT for recording. You hardly have to EQ it. And paired stereo with a Princeton the tone is heaven.

One mod you can do on your Guild guitar is to lift one connection on the bright cap for the bridge pickup and this will remove that high treble and its completely reversible. It's a very popular mod for Guild guitars. Sounds awesome, nice setup!

It must be the rare factor driving the price up of the originals . Considering these were cheap amps in their day they do sound superb.

thanks man! I tend to use my Tele with the supro after having a few months. Such a bright amp and the Guild is a very bass-prominent guitar.

Fuzz pedal on 11’? Tele on the ‘supro’ input…champs have gotten out of my budget. That might be fun. I have one of the bigger valcos with 2-10” Jensen and the famed (and quickly Inflating/disappearing)6973 RCA’s and it’s not a bad sound but slap a fuzz in front of it and it erupts. Fun amp. Looking for a 5 watt to set up a wet/dry with an old Gibson Falcon. Thought it might be a pairing. Thanks for the demo🙏

There's no difference between the inputs according to the schematics, they're all the same. It was made as an affordable amp for jamming and singing with a high impedance mic iirc.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a vintage example of a plain non-reverb 1606 just wondering if these amps have ANYTHING tat approaches headroom. I know headroom is not what these amps really do but I don't like constant distorted sound. i want just a little 'cleanliness' and complexity. Help!

Not much headroom in the vintage ones at least, i start to get breakup between 11 and 1 o'clock. But it depends slightly on the pickups too. My Jaguar doesn't distort till the amp is cranked.

If you mic the amp live its fine. They aren't clean amps, but they aren't full of noise either, just have to find the sweet spot with your pick attack and the volume level if the amp.

Tim you might like a Fender Champ. Beautiful, heavenly and lush cleans at medium volume, and probably more headroom than on the Supro. And you can turn it all the way up, turn down your guitar volume a little, and it cleans up nice. And you can get one for a price comparable to the Supro, $500-$600.

I have a 62 gretsch which is identical to a supro 1606t, paid 600 for it. Also have a 74 fender champ which I paid 550 for. Yes, the fender has more clean headroom and takes pedals very well. But they're both great amps for what I paid

I had the same amp 10 years ago .was all original stock mint it was 1959 .sold for cheap big mistake.now ive been crying 10 years.

Try the reissue it's pretty close to the original built like a tank the downside is its built in china for £679 its loud great tone tradeoff Chinese built
