Hey Robert, I've been following from the start and I do so appreciate all that you've shared with us, I am using your techniques and it is really helpful to see the actual products that you use. I am still hoping to see how you finish up the front rocker extensions to the lower cowl sides (where the front fender heel mounts go). It's the worst area on my 61 bubbletop.

Hi Robert: I'm loving the '62 Impala videos. I'm in the middle of a '62 Bel Air project and my buddy and metal man that's doing the work is checking out your videos for guidance! What paint products do you like to use to duplicate the gray/white spatter finish in the trunk for the '62 cars? Thank you. Keith

The frames have so much flex on these cars, when putting the quarters on you have many jacks keeping it level ?

THanks for the comment, the car frame was supported in key areas, time stamp 11:25 the door gap wouldn't be this nice if the body was twisted.

I have so enjoyed this video series, and can’t wait for the next. Is that the original frame or did you go with a donor? How do you find the replacement panels compared to the original for thickness and detail rust not included. Cheers
@guzzifabrication3448
@guzzifabrication3448 Жыл бұрын
Yes that is the original frame, the thing about metal, old vs new is that in the past as with everything, it was about quality and I am speaking to the purity of the metal itself.... now with all of the recycling, low quality materials, etc the properties in the metals that are produced can't compare with the older higher quality materials used..... Thanks for watching !

Nice work man. Question. On the rear deck lid to quarter panel on the top side of that flange you were punching holes to plug weld (beginning of video) what did you do along that outer seam? You mentioned you were going to plug weld the flange that sits below inside the trunk but on top is what I’m curious about. Do you run a weld bead across? Bondo? I wanna say stock it comes welded.
@guzzifabrication3448
@guzzifabrication3448 Жыл бұрын
Nothing goes in that same from the factory it's tacked on the ends with brass and resistance welded on that flange, that's all
@ChristopherL0rtiz
@ChristopherL0rtiz Жыл бұрын
@@guzzifabrication3448 is that specific for the 62? Application I’m referring to is for a 64. Mine had a bead which was ground down on each end. I was just assuming that was factory. Not on the under side but on the top side from window seal to trunk weather channel.

Hey man I have another question. Did you test fit the trunk in prior to welding the quarter in? I have both quarters sheet metal screwed in on mine and at the taillight side the trunk opening gets tight with the trunk in. I’m wondering if each quarter panel has to be an equal distance from the center of the trunk. I’m glad I checked before welding everything in. I was just assuming because everything was fitting that the trunk was gonna fit but the spacing gets really tight closer to the tail lights.
@guzzifabrication3448
@guzzifabrication3448 Жыл бұрын
Yes I fitted the trunk before fully welding in the quarters, that rear area can get tricky !
