When in doubt, snip it out! This year and, model of Truck is the very first Truck I drove out of Truck Driving School in 1976! I used it locally, and, routinely hauled 60 thousand lbs on the single axel, it never failed me!!

Amazing truck man, I have a special love for White lol I’m a Cleveland native 😂 plus my dad owned a semi international dealership and he had a old wrecker that was a badass White, had a Brockway too lol, thanks for saving her from the scrap pile!!

Not much can beat an old Cummins engine. Take any late model engine of today and throw it out in the field and come back and 20- 25 years and try that. It just won't happen. Great to hear it lives another day

That 220 Cummins will be alive after we're all dead. We had some working in local single axle tractors up until the early 90's. I don't remember doing anything to them except oil and filters. We only retired them because the cabs got so bad the doors were falling off

Hard to kill an old mechanical injection diesel. Cool old rig. I've never owned a diesel but this has me looking on FB marketplace to see what I can come up with ;)

Let's watch the movie Duel!!!! She had potential. I hope you find a another 64 White. Hopeful in Texas. To use the donor truck for body parts. And give her. A good sand blast. On the body. Get rid of the cancer. Clean up and paint the motor. And put her back into service. Doing dirt or gravel. She is like the Norfolk and Western 611. She sat for 10 years. And the guys and gals took her. Apart from the blueprints. And made her alive again.

A little bit of work and that old truck will be ready to go back to work

One thing I don't understand Hayes trying to jump the gun getting an engine crank. Not lubricating throttles and rods in this and that to make sure they're working properly it only takes a spray or two and then again a spray or two or more I don't know maybe I just do things differently anyhow guys I really love the content good luck with the old white definitely a piece of History stay safe stay well and as always God bless

Um, most of the time when a diesel is over full that much, it will cause a run away! The only way to stop the engine from imploding is to choke the intake completely. One of our mechanics did this years ago, and thankfully, he choked it out in time before it blew up!

Sorry to say, but they did have a thermostat. Worked at Cummins Ontario in Toronto Canada and this truck would have only been 12 yrs. old and I worked on many of them.

@weekendrestoration14983 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from 1000 to 3000
@alan68324 жыл бұрын
You had to have the batteries wired wrong because I don't see how any switch can turn 12 volts into 24. If you wire the batteries in series, for 24, i can see how a switch can turn that into 12, but not the other way round.
@weekendrestoration14984 жыл бұрын
We also had an extra battery cable that went to the switch that kept arcing not sure if the switch is shorted
@alan68324 жыл бұрын
@@weekendrestoration1498 I think that a series parallell switch would use an extra cable. my first guess would be you wire the batteries in series for 24, then put the extra cable in the middle to tap into the 12. but you can probably google up a proper wiring diagram somewhere.
@weekendrestoration14984 жыл бұрын
@@alan6832 we did do a Google search on the way it is supposed to be wired for a 12/24 volt system and thats when we found the 3rd cable that kept arcing so not sure whats going on. I wouldnt think it would be a positive ground on this truck.
@joshhunter56144 жыл бұрын
So you tried starting something that has been sitting for x-number of years without going through the wiring? Real smart.🙄
@weekendrestoration14984 жыл бұрын
We don't worry about wiring when you fire an engine that was just a cigarette lighter that gave problems nothing else
